I took it to mean that they were training for moving VIPs to their designated places if necessary for continuity of government. If something happens that requires evacuation of senior officials there are plans in place.

I think they are saying this is what they were training on:

Site R, also known as the Raven Rock Mountain Complex, is located six miles north of Camp David and serves as the Alternate National Military Command Center. The deep underground facility can fully support the Pentagon's mission essential functions including nuclear command and control. Army helicopters are on standby at Davison Army Airfield to evacuate senior Defense officials from the Pentagon to Site-R providing hasty access to the secret facility by following Blue Light and Iron Gate procedures.

Note - this is not an official White House site. It does have real info on the White House, but I can't guarantee everything is true. I only included it here because of the bolded part above, referring to the helicopters.

I don't know which senior defense officials would be on the helicopters, but I suspect the SECDEF and CJCS would be shuttled to whichever plane the president would board - AF1 plane or the "doomsday plane" depending on which were local at the time. Maybe the service secretaries and chiefs of staff, and the deputies/assistants would be relocated on the helicopters?

Now here is something interesting to dig on... Last night the Doomsday plane was already in the air flying towards the east coast. Supposedly there was some sort of exercise in New York I believe? What if the helicopter that hit the plane really was in an exercise and the crash really was an accident? If they were doing a cog exercise it reasonably could include scrambling the helicopter with simulated senior defense officials on it, and flying low, dark, and fast to site R - or to wherever they were going to land the doomsday plane so they could simulate a successful transfer of the "officials" to the airborne command post where the POTUS would arrive and take off. That is entirely possible.

It is also possible everything I just said could have been used as a cover-up to hide what really happened to the plane. I wonder if we will ever know for sure...

There's always yearly re-training in the military for everything, especially when a new Presidential Admin takes office. Everyone has to be seen justifying their budgets and positions. This would be no different.

As weird as this event is, and the questions surrounding how this could happen, I think people around here are reading into things a little too much.

I'm more concerned with who exactly was on that airline flight and how a fully trained and qualled MH-60 crew could just drift into incoming flight traffic.

So your position is that an armed forces member(squad) would train once on something as important as a "continuity of government" mission.... and thats it? Get out of here. These are executed constantly! That is a very high risk mission if/when that is live. Not something that should be trained once on and never revist it. These pilots are under constant training/ training and orientation flights. The constant search for conspiracy in any action of this board is tiring. All flights include a percentage of risk. Accidents can and will happen. The grasp of the smallest thread to make it something more is lame.

Retraining in this context is simply the same people doing the same training over and over to make sure crap like this doesn't happen when it's go time.
