Dead last in almost every metric in regards to performance and output. Trump is right, as are many who critique the US education system. It's been hijacked and the result is a broken system full of kids who can't read past a 6th grade level and are completely void of any useful life skills.
This is on top of the issue with some of the worst school districts in America being full of disruptors and violent behavior. Not all teachers are deranged lunatics and culture-war propagandists. Many just want to do their jobs and to see kids succeed but are hampered by poor parenting. Teachers are forced to not only educate but also become proxy-parents and disciplinarians when the real parents fail to do their jobs.
Teachers should never be put in a position where they have to deal with 25+ children in a class room. Imagine being a mom with 25 kids. That’s the reality for these teachers and why they can never be enough for our kids. 12 should be the max and even that gives me anxiety lol. Homeschool is still the preferred route it looks as it will take some time to clean out the “old” guard.

I am so glad none of my teachers looked like this, holy shit.
My teachers looked pretty normal back in the 70s but tbf they were total s hit with few exceptions. Mid wits at best.
Our school was rated 3 out of 10 and this was the Connecticut suburbs not the ghetto. We were woefully unprepared for college despite taking the best classes they could offer. The best teachers were private sector professionals who taught just one class. They were actually pretty good ( economics and philosophy) and didn't look anything like the burnt out slackers that taught us full time.
How infantile these "professionals" are now. I visited a high school not that long ago in California with my cousin. Every classroom looked like a teenage girls bedroom. It was embarrassing. LGBT bs, diversity nonsense, toys, animal posters, "edgy" pin ups of their woke heroes imploring you to question the status quo, pretty ironic no? And some of the teachers, holy crap, they looked like Hell. It was absolutely shocking.
Idk, no way I'd go near public schools today. Even the worst home schooling has to be better than exposing kids to this.

My son had an English teacher who had oh so many flags- guess what she didn’t have - Empathy. She was brutal grading his assignments because “ He can’t rely on his privilege “ when she had to make accommodations she threw a bitch fit and had him moved to special ed and he had to go to a different floor in a wheelchair because she was SO compassionate about the downtrodden she couldn’t print notes for the kid who couldn’t write fast enough thanks to cancer. She was an absolute inspiration. She inspired me to homeschool and child 2 is light years ahead of peer group. I admit that until that I was too indoctrinated to realize I should have started homeschooling WAY before that. I see a flag teacher and I immediately think “red flag” teacher

Definitely some great teachers out there but the bad do SO much damage.
Kid 1 btw brilliant kiddo and getting sent to special ED was devastating for him and unnecessary. Literally sent from an Honors class to special ed because she was lazy and also demanded notes from her windbag lectures turned in with each assignment and he was so exhausted and sick that he couldn’t keep up by the end of the day.

My teachers always tried to look nice. The men wore ties or suit jackets. Some weren’t the best but there was effort. I’m probably a little older than you. Also my kids went to Catholic school. Those teachers dressed nice too.
