SS would be the largest bank account on Earth and retirees would all be getting $10,000 a month IF, the criminal politicians had not stolen it for ....Welfare to millions who never paid a dime into it. I want Trump to make them Pay back what the stole since 1964.
THIS! And a law making it damn near impossible to be touched outside paying monthly benefits. It was supposed to be set up that way, but of course Congress found a way to finagle around it. I think ALL that wealth they've accumulated since joining Congress should be stripped from them and put into the Soc Sec fund. Most of them STOLE it from us thru BS NGO's funded by USAID or other agencies so, repayment time.
I’d love full retirement at age 60 (my current) along with no SS tax (or no federal income tax at all). But I’ll take what President Trump provides, gratefully.
I'm a few years younger, but the way the job market has been going, I'd be happy to take less SS and retire at 62 (or whatever the minimum is). I'm tired of dealing with stupid people, both above me and below me.
That said, if GEOTUS turns the economy around and we started valuing competence and productivity again, hell, I'd work until 70.
I love trump but he better do more than just stop ss taxes. All income tax is slavery, the annual filing of taxes and enormous burden on people and the system. All of it needs to go or MAGA is a farce. He promised MAGA and I believe he can do it, but unless it's done we've lost the MAGA fight no matter what else is accomplished. I for one believe the irs and income tax and possibly a ban on other taxes is coming.
Last year I paid $16.00 in SSI taxes. Mehhhh doesn't affect me that much other than saving money on turbo tax. I worked a lot of overtime in the hospital and that would have been nice but the water has passed under that bridge for me.
I am retired and do receive SS, and yes I am happy to hear an end to taxes on it. BUT!!! I am way more happy to see an end to any and all income tax on EVERY living person in the U.S.A.
I'm not retired - almost could be but likely never will - got things yet to accomplish.
I was IRATE about them taxing SS. WE ALREADY PAID THE TAX. THAT IS OUR MONEY.
I would like to lobby for a one-time payout option, to get every DIME we paid into the system, plus interest, in one lump tax-free sum. The notion that we have to live long enough to get ALL of OUR money back is absurd, and represents a huge grift by the govt scammers who set this up.
Retirees who are still renting could buy homes. Folks like me could launch another business. Grandparents could send their grandkids to college, help their kids buy a house, travel what's left of the world, or just go out the way they want to.
Sure, there's a risk that people would run to the nearest casino and give it all away. Well -- IT IS their money, so they would be free to do with it as they please. For the Govt to mete it out " for our own good" violates our personal freedoms. Nevermind the fact that they used SS funds as a grifting well and GAVE our money to folks who never paid into it.
The program should be voluntary. Perhaps the lump-sum payout could be secured by a trust, through which a trusted family member or other designated person could run down a checklist to ensure that they asked each question, compelling the spender to think it through before squandering their money. But for folks who simply don't have such a trusted person to rely on, just give it to them if they want it.
I'm in AL too, and have never paid federal tax on SS, but have to pay state tax every year. It has to do with amount of SS income, and any other income. Passive income isn't counted the same as active income. Even though I have a bit of rental income, the standard deduction makes my federal amount owed -0-.
People who receive large amounts of SS may have to pay federal taxes.
I'm all in. In fact, I'd like to have the option to get back every penny I paid into this program and drop out altogether and manage my own retirement fund; or to continue on with earned monthly payments but with a refund on taxes withheld from the first date of collecting them in a lump sum....
But truthfully, I'd accept what ever POTUS is able to produce for us!!!
Mine currently is reduced because I have a public pension. Even though I am fully vested..Trump mentioned getting rid of that rule...I am hoping for it
I just started collecting social security last April and the idea of not paying taxes (again) on that money sounds pretty nice. It's somewhat tempered by the fact that POTUS was claiming he's going to not tax overtime. From the age of 18 until I retired early at 65, I averaged over 500 hours a year in OT. I had over 900 hours in 2001 alone. If I could have gotten in on a few years of no OT tax before I retired it would have been a nice chunk of change to supplement my current income. I can't really complain because it's sure nice doing whatever the hell I feel like doing now.
It's a good start. But it does not begin to take into account the inflation tax imposed by the 37T national debt dilution of the value of the dollar. The year I graduated HS gold was $35 an ounce. So a dollar now is worth about one of the copper pennies I grew up with.
Its good though i already receive my VA disability tax free our social security never reached a taxable level. What i would really like is never to have to file again.
It's double taxation, is it not?
Ending it is past due.
u/#pepedance
Double dipping yep
I want them to add a lot more money into my monthly check for all the crap they gave away.
Me too!

Yes, and imagine if it was at least partially invested in metals instead of t-bills.
Yeah, we don't get the best investment advice either it seems.

They extended the retirement age. I'm born 65, and now I have to wait til I'm 67 for Soc Sec.
you dont have to wait- you can just take less earlier.

Wonderful...as long as my rising property taxes don't gobble it up!
In my situation, having property taxes eliminated would help me much more than federal taxes being eliminated.
Very excited.
Every little bit helps. Because of my wife's condition(s), our monthly expenses are about TWICE our SSA benefits. Savings are disappearing quickly..
I love it----now do away with the IRS! Kek
This is great!
Now do property taxes. Those are what cause seniors to lose their homes.
My husband and I are both super excited!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😀😀😀😀😀😀💵💵💵💵💵💵💵

How only 16$ ?
Federal tax: The portion you pay depends on income and filing status. No state income tax in TN.
Retiring later this year. It would be huge for me.
Going on SS next week --WOOHOO!! Great timing - M(SS)GA!
I am retired and do receive SS, and yes I am happy to hear an end to taxes on it. BUT!!! I am way more happy to see an end to any and all income tax on EVERY living person in the U.S.A.
VERY EXCITED 😊
I'm 4 months out from reaching my FRA of 66 and 8 months. Freedom from the BS earnings cap coupled with the upcoming no tax on SS heck yeah!
No tax on SS means around 1500 more in my pocket each year.
Did Trump say that he wanted to change the earning cap for Social Security too?
Nope, i'm at FRA so cap is gone.
What is FRA?
Full Retirement Age.
Full Retirement Age which for me is 66 years and 8 months...
I'm not retired - almost could be but likely never will - got things yet to accomplish.

I'm ready now - give me MY money, feds!
This is a great point. Trump please do this next.
Think I'll pen a letter to him.
My dad lives in Alabama. Says he's never paid SS tax. So he's not excited about not not paying taxes.
How does Alabama not have to pay SS tax? It's federal

Income is too low
Bidenflation has hit us very hard. Anything that adds to our fixed incomes will be more than welcome.

well, my property tax bill just came in. Do I send my check to Ukraine and cut out the middleman ?
sick and tired of being taxed on EVERYTHING
Mine currently is reduced because I have a public pension. Even though I am fully vested..Trump mentioned getting rid of that rule...I am hoping for it
All very good, promises made promises kept right… i’ll accept whatever comes my way!

Has this gone into effect yet? I mean will it be applicable for this tax season currently? I cant find a EO addressing it. Any help is appreciated.
negative, trump mentioned it and press secretary announced it as his proposed tax plan. It'll have to go before congress.
Thanks found this. I really could have used it for this year. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/02/06/exclusive-tommy-tuberville-bill-will-end-taxes-on-social-security-benefits-delivering-on-key-trump-pledge/
I'm on SS but single and my income is under 25,000 so I pay no SS taxes. This won't affect me at all.
Every little bit helps!
Very.
