Maybe some 5D angle I’m not seeing but I see so many ways is will be scammed and abused by foreigners who already are scamming the immigration system. I doubt it will create many American jobs. Just jobs for more invaders.

We already have EB-5 visa system which is completely abused. They just need to "invest" $800K to $1 mil in specifically authorized rural areas. This allows the bureaucrats to decide where this money goes and they can tale kickbacks to approve these visas. The whole thing is corrupt.
What Trump did was to take away the whole subjective decision making from the equation and make the visa 5x more expensive, but since its flat price the money becomes very easily accountable.
Also since they are already paying 5 mil without any subjectivity, it takes away the incentives for bribery or corruption.

Well it's better than the EB-5, that's for certain.
But selling citizenship is selling out the citizens' patrimony. It'd be better to sponsor citizens who want to start businesses and grow the talent without selling out.
I've seen plenty of neighborhoods gentrified with an influx of rich foreigners who make it unaffordable for the locals and end up changing the culture. The idea that someone who has gotten rich by leveraging the corrupt system that they're coming from (and if it's not corrupt, why would they want to come here?) will come here without eventually corrupting our system as part of their way of life is a dangerous one.
Its not "selling citizenship". Its selling "pathway to citizenship". There are plenty more steps before they can become citizens.
IDK, once on the path they might forget to stay on the path and head for the bushes. A millionaire in America can disappear pretty easily. For a third world millionaire it would be very easy.
Why would they need to disappear? They would be legal residents and the money for the Gold Card would be collected up front. This program will replace the corrupt EB-5 program and take away the incentive to scam the system and at 5 times the cost and it's collected up front.

I live surrounded by beautiful lakes. my grandparents and many other locals families used to own homes and cottages around them, it wasn't really that expensive. Now it's all foreigners and out of state people that own it all. Prices are $10k/foot of lakefront property. I think a tax plan that gives locals an exemption on paying property taxes while increasing them for these invaders would be a good start. The Hawaiians have the same thing going on only worse. I'd love to hear how they would suggest changing it also.

I see gold cards coming in (or consortium of migrants pooling money together to sponsor one member to act as the front man) then turning around sponsoring other work visas and importing infinity Indians etc. like they already do. Americans need not apply.
I think that there is quite a bit of vetting planned before the GCs are issued. So it was said during the Oval office announement.
Plus, any imported labor will have to be done legally, as well, I expect. The new companies will need native English speakers in any case, so there will be plenty jobs to go around.

EB-5 visa’s aren't a new thing, Trump just wants to fix them so they at least have some actual merit. I want every illegal deported, every last damned one and retract birth right citizenship for the last 35 years!

Their not all bad. We have some Mexican families right here on our street with Trump signs in their front yards. Some of the hardest working and nicest people to know. But these are all people that have been here before the Great Invasion.

if they vet folks and keep them honest over some period of time they pay down debt and likely open businesses employing citizens. I also suspect after the $5M income dries up that our immigration system could be based upon payment from immigrants even if they only pay say $10,000 nonrefundable for some kind of pathway to citizenship. only true refugees should be allowed in free of charge. if someone wants to live here badly enough they will be willing to pay a toll

Different path than EB-5. The $5M goes to the government to pay down debt. And they will be closely vetted. EB-5s were often used to buy a Chinese restaurant for a million, meet the time requirement and then sell it to the next Chinese person. Just one example.
