Bold of him to assume that we actually want them here. If coming to the US and witnessing a fast-evolving revolution and Great Awakening is too hard for them to bear, then they really should stay at home.
I was thinking something similar. Did it even occur to me to worry about whether European tourists are coming to the U.S.? Do I give even the slightest shit?
Tariffs aren’t paid by the exporting country, but by the importers in the U.S. who bring in goods from that country.
In effect, tariffs function like an extra tax, making imported products more expensive and giving an edge to locally made goods. So the tariff money is not coming from the exporting country but rather by consumers and importers of the importing country.
That is the myth. It is dependent on competition and the power relationship between the buyer and the seller. Walmart is making China eat the tariffs. And since many countries sell similar products, there’s competition for the sale to us. Eating the tariff is part of that competition.
It’s not true of everything. Business that we are protecting will get a little bit more expensive. Take steel. But there’s about a ton of steel in a car and a ton of steel was a little over $1,000. So a 25% tariff will likely mean a 15% price increase. Adding just $150 to a car.
Luxury items like Gucci is where you will see us pay full rate.
True. It helps to have the money to travel and the cost of flights to the USA is not trivial. Couple that with the dollar being oddly resilient at this time in the currency markets, it isn't easy for Europeans to travel.
Remember there are lies, damned lies, and statistics...
I call BS. That's not a real statistic, the chart starts in 2024. Let's go back to 2014, then we can see some real statistics, otherwise it's just a bunch of garbage. They use charts to fool people, and this is how they do it.
When I was in Panama, some Canadians were complaining that they wanted to go to the US, but the new paperwork under the Trump administration made it too hard.
This represents a Year-on-Year (YoY) change, meaning we’re receiving that many percentage points fewer tourists compared to the same period last year.
For example, if we had 100 tourists from Austria in March last year, but only 70 this March, that would indicate a -30% YoY growth.
Good riddance stay in your socialist countries and pay your 70% in taxes to get b******* insurance and garbage benefits that you're paying for with your outrageous taxes
Too much freedom. The brainwashing is unreal.
A European calling trump authoritarian?
Worldwide mind control.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil. Who put dark for light.

the tend to smell bad because they don't shower often.
We don’t want them, just their tariff money.

Europe is also in a recession, so they may not be able to afford it
Bingo!

Irrespective, the graph shows a Year on Year decline. Basically it shows lesser touring coming into our country as compared to last year.
I think we just discovered where all the illegal immigrants were coming from!
When I was in Panama, some Canadians were complaining that they wanted to go to the US, but the new paperwork under the Trump administration made it too hard.
Good
This seems like a win win.

Can anyone explain HOW this can be a negative number? How can you have less than zero Europeans traveling to the US?
