I watched Trump's speech in Saudia Arabia today on RAV. He came on stage to God Bless the USA and left to YMCA. I thought I was watching a campaign rally!
Not sure if those were the actual songs played or if it was an RAV overlay, but I think they were. And Prince Salman was smiling the whole time!
Yeah - I was waiting for him to recognize the North Carolina women attending their 1000th rally, and pointing out the Brick Suit guy.
I think the only thing that showed it wasn't a rally was when he said he wouldn't say the names of all the dignitaries because they would be there all day and he had a lot of appointments. Classic.

“Jubilee” is the name given to a particular year; the name comes from the instrument used to mark its launch. In this case, the instrument in question is the yobel, the ram's horn, used to proclaim the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). This (Jewish) holiday occurs every year, but it takes on special significance when it marks the beginning of a Jubilee year. We can find an early indication of it in the Bible: a Jubilee year was to be marked every 50 years, since this would be an “extra” year, one which would happen every seven weeks of seven years, i.e., every 49 years (cf. If you remember WAY back, he used to play "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones. They got butt-hurt, forced BMI to remove licensing so he couldn't play it, and sued him. Same thing happened with "Hold On, I'm Coming" when "Chef" Isaac Hayes' son whined about it.
In total (unless I'm missing some) Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, Phil Collins, Pharrell, John Fogerty, Neil Young, Eddy Grant, Panic! at the Disco, R.E.M. and Guns N’ Roses all objected to Trump using their songs (along with the previous 2).
The Village People also objected at first. Then they realized they were making big money on the song again because a whole new crowd heard it and liked it. They made several million dollars thanks to Trump. Turns out, it hit #1 in the UK when the song debuted in 1978, but only made it to #2 in the USA. Until 2024. After 46 years it hit #1 and stayed there for 6 weeks.
I believe Trump just likes the song. He was around 32yo when it initially came out. That was just a couple years after the Bicentennial celebrations. Maybe he considers that era as one of the "great" ones, so it would fit MAGA.
