If we are in continuity of government, if there are 10 days of darkness and the EBS, then we won't always be adhering strictly to the Constitution. That may become necessary. Even our founders recognized that at certain times we would find it necessary to throw off tyrants. And Q says deception is necessary (which admittedly makes me grumpy most of the time.)

Stephen Miller, as usual, gives a common sense explanation of why “the Republicans refused to codify DOGE cuts” in the Big Beautiful Bill is a false narrative.
TLDR: The Big Beautiful Bill is a reconciliation bill. Reconciliation Bills can only touch mandatory spending. DOGE was almost exclusively focused on discretionary spending; therefore, DOGE cuts cannot be included in the Big Beautiful Bill.

The Rescissions package Trump supported to codify the cuts was passed on back in March. I don't think the argument was ever that they be included in the BBB. The problem is that there's not enough time before midterms to get it addressed again, so they chose the go with the BBB bc it's easier to sell those results and they didn't want to burn political capital before such a close vote. If the Republicans were unified on it, they could have done both.

You’re right about the lack of unity. Something like the rescission package will get sunk by RINOs and fiscal conservatives alike. One will say it’s too much, the other says it’s not enough. The end result is we’re stuck in the status quo.
TBH I'm not fully aware of all the backroom discussions either but I know Johnson wants to bring it to a vote and that there are cuts to the state department and NPR included.
This happened in 2018 too when it passed the House and not the Senate. I think they just want to avoid a repeat for the exact point you made about RINOs/fiscal cons.

Musk was a special government employee which only allowed him to work 130 out of 365 days. He was bound to leave after said amount of time. Funny thing is, don't discount DOGE from continuing their mission.
I don't understand why people think this means DOGE itself is being shut down. Do they think DOGE belongs to Elon, like it's Tesla or X, and he's taking it with him when he leaves?
US government agencies don't shut down just because someone working for them leaves (no matter how famous they are).

I, for one, have never heard of Amy Gleason. I am glad that Elon is not in charge of DOGE as he was being killed by the public and the politicians against Trump. He needs the rest-or to get back to running his businesses. Please explain who Amy Gleason is, at least to me. I am not too involved in the political end of this as much as I would like to be. Sometime it is really confusing to spot all the "players".

No, it doesn't matter what department they work in. They are limited, by law, to 130 days or fewer working for the US government as an SGE. The US government stays the same, no matter what department the SGE works for.

He was brought in as an SGE. A "special government employee". These are people who are not government employees and who are taken on temporarily in order to provide their particular expertise in a matter.
That way, the government can benefit from their experience and knowledge of certain matters (like efficiency).
But since they are not official government employees, whose job comes with things like background checks and whatever specific criteria is involved in qualifying for that job, along with the matter of potential conflicts of interest when one's "real job" conflicts with the federal government work they are doing, they are constrained, by law, to a limit of working only 130 days or fewer in a 365 day period. This is not a new law. Musk and Trump knew all about it when Musk was brought on. (Well, I should hope they would have known that basic little fact, anyway. If AP News knew about it, I sure as shit would hope the President of the United States would know about it.)
I don't know if anyone remembers, but there was some hoopla a while back about Trump claiming Musk was "head of DOGE", which as a special government employee and not a federal employee, he can not be, by law. Also Musk had made claims about working in DOGE permanently for Trump's entire term. Which, again, by law, he can not be. (I have absolutely no idea why he would think he could stay the entire term.)
I knew it was going to cause all sorts of excited speculation when Musk eventually had to leave (again, because of federal laws), just because of him saying he would be staying on full time.
I'm pretty sure I caught a 3 day "dooming" ban back when he originally said that- because I was trying to tell people that he couldn't stay on for Trump's entire term because of federal laws.
So, figures, I get a ban for "dooming" when I told people he wasn't going to be staying on for the full term, no matter what he says. And look, I was right!
And I 100% won't be surprised if I get another "dooming" ban when I try to stop people from believing there is some shady super secret conspiracy going on with him "suddenly and mysteriously" leaving DOGE. 🙄

I was reading the article to see if it got the facts right. Very disappointed that it got the facts wrong, especially since it leaves out the fact that Elon Musk is a SGE, and is legally mandated to leave DOGE at this time.
We must be vigilant against click-baiting fake news on all sides, even supposed MAGA sites. And we must tame our biases, else we are no better than the enemy we claim to fight.

Can you blame Musk? He worked is ass off and found the tip of the iceberg. Naively thinking the Republicans would take it seriously, he learned the hard way what we’ve all known for a long time. The Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same Uniparty coin. The corruption, greed, dishonesty is on full display along with the bribery, blackmail and influence of big money be it from PACS, lobbyists, drug cartels or off shore interests. At this point the only way forward is to either give in and declare the American experiment a failure or go down the road of quick trials and quicker executions.
