The FDA’s 50-Year War on the Safest Painkiller Ever Discovered
If you thought what they did to ivermectin was bad, wait till you hear what they did to this drug.
Jul 02, 2025
In the 1960s and 70s, DMSO was hailed as a medical breakthrough for its ability to erase chronic pain and heal debilitating injuries.
But there was one problem…
Because DMSO couldn’t be patented, it threatened to replace lucrative NSAIDs and painkillers with a cheap cure.
Later, the FDA declared DMSO “dangerous” and let Big Pharma keep selling toxic painkillers instead.
DMSO has been shown to treat everything from pain and arthritis to nerve damage, inflammation, and even cataracts.
Find out how this one cheap cure became medicine’s best-kept secret.
DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) isn’t just a chemical solvent---it’s a medical game-changer.
It can erase chronic pain, speed up healing, calm autoimmune flares, and treat arthritis, strokes, spinal cord injuries, and more.
No wonder it once swept through America like wildfire.
The information in this article comes from the work of medical researcher
A Midwestern Doctor
. For all the sources and details, read the full report below.
The Remarkable History and Safety of DMSO
Doctors, pro athletes, scientists, and even politicians once demanded access.
And it wasn’t just talk. Thousands of studies confirmed its effects.
Pharma companies even rushed to invest!
It was unstoppable… until the FDA stopped it.
Why would the FDA stop something so promising?
Well, they didn’t even simply stop it. They launched a war against DMSO.
They stonewalled Congress and ignored their own advisory committees.
They claimed, without adequate evidence, that DMSO was "dangerous."
The only dangerous thing about DMSO is that it threatens Big Pharma’s profits.
It couldn’t be patented the way Big Pharma wanted.
If people used it to heal themselves, it would break the monopoly over medicine.
That’s why the FDA stepped in.
And so DMSO was erased from history.
It was quickly banned for most human uses and labeled “dangerous.”
And it worked.
Even today, most people (even those in the natural health world) have never even heard of it.
Here’s what the science actually says..
There are more than 10,000 articles on its biology and more than 30,000 on its chemistry.
And decades of human use have led to millions being treated safely.
There’s a long list of conditions it can help. And it’s all backed by evidence.
Some of A Midwestern Doctor’s readers have shared incredible stories:
Bruises gone---overnight.
Excruciating nerve pain---eliminated.
Decades of arthritis pain---reversed.
Cataracts---shrunk.
Vaccine-injury-induced spasms---vanished.
And so much more.
Not only is DMSO not dangerous, it’s nothing short of a miracle.
Here’s a few of its incredible qualities:
✅ No cumulative toxicity.
✅ Doesn’t damage cells---it actually protects them.
✅ Tolerated at absurdly high doses in animals.
✅ Millions of humans used it for decades with few issues.
Let’s be real… While DMSO is an answer to prayer for many, it does have some side effects (as most things do).
But they pale in comparison to side effects from the drugs so many of us have been prescribed.
The most common side effects include a mild skin irritation/itching when applied topically (this usually fades quickly), a garlic-like body or breath odor (this is due to metabolism), and occasional nausea or vomiting.
Potentially serious, but very rare, side effects include allergic reactions (1 in 1,000--2,000 cases).
That’s it. That’s all.
Cancer? Birth defects?
Nope and nope.
DMSO protects DNA from damage and does not increase risk of cancer (in fact, it’s used to treat it).
The only available evidence of birth defect risk is when DMSO is injected directly into embryos in lab tests at huge doses---not from normal use.

What is DMSO?
DMSO also known as dimethyl sulfide is an industrial Sullivant and organic sulfur compound. Sulfur is in every human, plant, and animal. It’s very gentle and they even use it to store things like stem cells, organs for transplant, and human embryos. DMSO contains a bioavailable, high-concentration, organic sulfur that your body can easily use. DMSO can easily penetrate the blood-brain barrier and the skin really easily.
It is an extraordinary product with loads of benefits.
DMSO is great to help treat these things:
Is that Irish? 😁
u/#popcornjones
it means hawk eyed.
but perhaps it is a misspelling of the word solvent. It is an industrial solvent. They've been keeping the healthy benefits of ingesting industrial solvents (they cross the blood brain barrier!) from us.
Ah interesting...new one on me... and I work with a lot of industrial solvents but never heard that term used.

😁😁😁😁😁
Aye
It works but one word of caution. It amplifies any medications you are taking so they are more potent and it takes whatever is on your skin into body, so be sure it's clean. Just pay attention to side effects of drugs you currently take. That nausea could be your blood pressure med being amplified.
Topicals yes. Same with lotions or dirty skin oil. Washing the area before application is necessary.
So, with all this said, WHERE can one buy DMSO nowadays?
It's sold on Amazon. I recently picked some up. Found 1 that seemed pure. I read that it should be slightly diluted with pure water to prevent drying out the skin.
It was pharma grade from the DMSO store. Tried a little so far. Not much to report yet.
OK, I see, so it is... but what is considered the best way to take it, orally or topically on the skin? I see that drops and cream ointments are available.
I would not drink it. I read the comments for several products on Amazon figured it's best diluted and used on the skin.
I diluted a little with water (about 50%) and put it on my shoulder, which sometimes hurts enough to make it hard to do a full workout. I think it's slightly better, but haven't been working it much lately.
Thanks. I also work out, 5 days a week, and have osteoarthritis in my hands and shoulder. I think I'll try this stuff, thanks for the info.
Please give an update once you've given it a fair shot.
Keep us updated. I have really bad restless legs and sometimes the only fix is a large amount of ibuprofen, which is prickly destroying my organs.
besides the solvent, which is also close to being in every plant and animal on earth, aren't we getting enough sulfer already? As stated, it is in every plnt and animal on earth. I ingest plants and animals every single day. And of course solvents.
As DMSO turns into methylsulfanylmethane, or MSM, inside the body, I would try that. I just found out that MSM stops lactic acid from forming after workouts. I have a younger friend at church who is using 3,000 mg per workout and totally avoiding soreness later on. He started with 2,000 mg and added the extra 1,000 mg when it wasn’t quite getting it done. No stomach upset, easy to dose.
Thanks for the info. It's probably safe, but I would want to know more before ingesting it.100 years ago people were ingesting radioactive materials thinking they had healing powers, only to die of cancer a few years later. Obviously an extreme case, but also a lesson to be learned.
I'll check out the link below.
DMSO was safe for me. Took it for 20 days with no side effects. Relieved my fibromyalgia pain and brain fog too. I feel it’s as safe as taking IVM. However, everyone reacts differently. DMSO worked for me!
There are several books available that talks about how to use it. Two that I saw recommended are by Amanda Vollmer and Morton Walker.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/1646040023?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_title Good book.
Thanks. Added to wish list
Yep, that is a really good book!
Do not mix it with tap water! Whatever is mixed with DMSO is taken straight into your cells. If you want to mix it, do so with steam-distilled water. There are plenty of books that you can pick up on Amazon about the benefits of DMSO and how to use it.
Yes, it's gonna sting a bit when you first start to use it, but if you keep it up, it goes away.
You can find an alternative or integrative medical practice and they can administer it intravenously.
Amazon has it...
But be sure to research before using. I only ise it topically.
Mangled yourself and need stitches? Put some DMSO on the gash and in less than 6 weeks it's TOTALLY healed with NO SCARS!!!
It's truly miraculous in this regard.
I dispense it 3 parts DMSO to one part distilled and apply topically to CLEAN skin.
FYI - discovered this morning it gives INSTANT relief to sunburn sting/pain ...
Works well @75% concentration topically applied for arthritis and muscle pain. It's not as effective for bone/disc pain, but it's a powerful antiinflammatory and muscle relaxer, so that can be helpful in those situations.
It's cheap... just get some.
Oh.... and it's supposed to reverse the damage caused by stroke of administered right away...
My cousin has pulled her dad out of a stroke SEVERAL times with DMSO. Real world proof it works for this. He’s going to be 99 next month. I couple drops on his tongue and so far, it’s worked every time.
Good to know!
For stroke probably not topically, I assume? I saw the Mike Wallace DMSO special on intravenous administration.
Correct.... you gotta ingest it
I would do both. Take orally and put on stroke side temple. Can also put on arm and leg if effected but head is very important.
Here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BSYQ0XC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details. Pick up some 2 or 4 ounce amber glass spray bottles while you are at it.
Some of the lower ratings on that product say that it has an offensive odor...also that other people can smell it on you while you might not be able to smell it. Is that your experience with it?
Some have reported a garlic/fish taste/smell.
In fact, this is the sole reason they can't do a double blind study because they KNOW it's not the placebo.
However... I've only gotten a slight sense of that like once, using it topically and it was nothing so terrible it stopped me from using it again...
It's one of those YMMV situations depending on your individual chemistry and sensitivity.
I took it for 20 days. My family said I smelled terrible so I stopped. Wanted to do a 30 day protocol. The smell goes away in 12- 24 hrs after stopping.
I can attest. Gets into bedding even washing machine the stuff is horrible
DMSOstore.com
Here is a good podcast on DMSO https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Cdj38FB8c/
And talking it orally is safe and very effective. I'm taking 30 drops 99% in 4oz organic aloe juice daily. Also use the 70/30 cream on my face and scalp after showers. It's great for cuts burns sunburns bites poison ivy.
I’ve used DMSO on my hands and my skin got wrinkly. Do you have that same problem on your face? Do rinse the DMSO off after a while? Sorry for the question but I’d like to try it.
I did not have that problem. I think it smoothed my skin and got rid of the bags under my eyes. I do rub it on my hands too after putting it on
Thanks. I’ll give it a try.
May I ask why you’re applying to your face and scalp and if it’s helping?
I use it just for overall skin health. No particular reason. It increases perfusion to your skin and scalp. It's supposed to help with thinning and hair loss and promote re-growth. We'll see over time. I've been using it daily for a couple months now.
Cuz it "improves blood supply"
Big R
I tried Murdock's, but they didn't have it in my area. Farm supply store
Because (((big pharma))) makes billions every year on Rockefeller petroleum byproducts force fed to us by "medical professionals." That's also why therapeutics companies' stocks are penny stocks. If we had a truly free market with forced suppression from any angle punishable by hard time and bankrupting fines, all big pharma companies would very quickly go bankrupt and carried away like a fart in the wind.
They won't make enough money with actual cures. They give us bullshit to keep us sick. If you go against the tide, random people will push back, and say you're doing something dangerous. See the keto/carnivore diets.
Anyone know if it helps with chronic headaches? My brother has been suffering for decades. He’s tried every drug and treatment/surgical option you can think of. No relief…in fact, they still don’t have a diagnosis!
In wondering if the topical use would help alleviate a bit of the constant pain.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks Frens!
50/50 dilution with distilled water applied to the temples is the prescribed method.
His pain is mainly in the back of his head. Would that still be effective?
Gonna ask a dumb question…
So I need to order the pure liquid stuff and then mix it with the water? Like .5oz of each?
Thanks!!
Chronic headaches can be due to a variety of things. Posture, spine arrangement, tendons overstrained, salt buildup/clustering in the brain, lack of hydration, etc.
Personally for headaches I recommend cayenne pepper tea. Alternatively you can get capsules (I use "cool cayenne" via Amazon). It massively increases blood flow and MANY other great things! Cayennepepper.ino
Also electrolytes. Getting good salt (sodium/potassium/magnesium) is critical for cellular hydration. I like dr berg electrolytes via Amazon, the small tubs. Or LMNT electrolytes but those are slightly more expensive.
Try those first, then if headaches still remain it's possible that it's a posture/spine/tension related issues
DMSO is more for inflammation of tissue, healing capillaries, detox of the skin, etc. Still great stuff but headaches in my opinion are more of an internal issue, rather than something topical DMSO is likely able to fix
Has he tried a low carb diet and magnesium yet?
No. Because of all the years of trying and failing to fix it, he’s very stubborn about trying new things.
SO ANNOYING.
What kind of magnesium? I have read about all the kinds but I don’t know which he should try
Magnesium glycinate is my first choice.
Magnesium citrate is the version recommended before a colonoscopy.
Both work to reduce magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium Theronate can increase magnesium ions in the brain and improve cognitive function.
I take this when I need to ensure a solid night’s sleep.
Alternatively you could get him to eat 15 cashews a day to increase magnesium levels that should help immensely when it comes to headaches.
Won’t hurt to try! Report back if you do!
I bought some topical gel (70/30%). I have some nerve damage in my right arm.
After two days, I saw a significant reduction in tremors. So I started to apply it in a larger area. I'll have some muscular weakness from years of atrophy, but I know how to target that with therabands and other equipment.
It can cause some weird skin thickening or appearance at higher than 50/50. It goes away however.
I hope that the Q plan involves executing everyone involved in suppressing these cures. Will be sorely disappointed if it does not.
All they have to do is, make them take their own medicines. 😏 )))No anything but that!((( 😮😫😭
Interesting will try
Do your homework. My great aunt used it for her arthritis. It does have areas of concern as most things do.
Why havent we ever heard of our international rivals using it?
Wouldnt it be an easy way to get a leg-up on the FDA-riddled US population?
I use it very often and take it orally
Is Dimethyl Sulfide a Sign of Alien Life? So now they say Aliens brought it to Earth. I mean, there is no way to confirm or deny that the aliens brought. But if they did, did they bring it to help human suffering, or did God give it to us to use for pain and suffering? https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-is-dimethyl-sulfide-the-chemical-found-on-exoplanet-k2-18-b/#:~:text=What%20Is%20Dimethyl%20Sulfide?,models%20and%20other%20atmospheric%20science.
they brought industrial solvents and sulfer to us to be nice. very cool, aliens.
DMSO is a byproduct of the paper making process.
The FDA is worthless.
Exhibit A: vioxx
That all sounds great. I wonder if it would also work to prevent hair loss?
You spelled erectile disfunction incorrectly.
This Canadian Naturopath has a hair loss product using DMSO in her store (this is not an endorsement). Here she talks about the product:
https://yummy.doctor/video-list/dmso-hair-regrowth-spray-works/
I'll need a gallon. 😂
I embrace my hair loss. Sometimes you just have to wear your genetics proudly
you mean always. not sometimes.
I have been corrected and will change my ways.
Women don't care, fyi. Not the ones you would want to hang out with, anyway.
We found and bought DMSO a few months ago. It's been a true God-send for my husband's neck and back problems. It literally took all of the swelling down around the two vertebra in his neck within a week. We bought the roll-on kind. It has also helped my on-going hurting and weak wrist.
Where did you purchase it?
I can' remember/ I think it was the Walmart site. It's the roll on.
It is probably racist, and it is supposed to cause Global warming also. It is a volatile, flammable liquid that is naturally produced in marine environments and by certain bacteria. DMS plays a significant role in the global sulfur cycle and is a precursor to sulfate aerosols, which can influence cloud formation and potentially impact climate. It's also found in the aroma of some cooked foods.
DMSO cannot be double blind tested.
https://www.allstarhealth.com/de_p/37730/DMSO_DMSO_Cream_with_Aloe_Vera_70PERCENT-30PERCENT.htm
This is what I use topically.
2x a day when you start.
Besides pain relief you should feel significant results within 10 days.
I'm talking significant significant results. Like you for getting that you had arthritis or reducing pain and swelling in your lower back almost completely.
MAKE SURE YOUR SKIN IN WASHED AND CLEAN. It will carry anything on your skin through the protective membrane into your blood / fat / muscle.
Crazy question - I can understand the DMSO getting in to an inflamed knee for arthritis, etc., but I have hip/tendon issues which are pretty deep. Really painful, like walking on sprained ankles 24 hours/day. When I sit down for a while it seems like the areas swell... if I walk for 30-40 painful steps, things seem to loosen up but I am still not able to walk for exercise. I am plump, not slim (nor obese), so how deep would I expect DMSO to penetrate? I'm hearing that my loss of tendon flexibility is due to decreasing estrogen levels (common starting around 40 years) but also lowered collagen production. Turmeric really seems to help (it is said to work similarly to hormone replacement) but it also wears off after about 8 hours. I've been reading not to take turmeric more than once per day. EDIT: Aging sucks.
I'm no expert and have just recently started using it so I can't give you a qualified answer but it's about $25 for a good sized jar and you only use an amount the size of about of 2-3 peas 2x a day so the value is great and if it doesn't work it's still cheaper than just about anything so not a big loss.
Give it a try. My inflammation is down and the pain gone in my hands, knees and lower back in less than 2 weeks.
There's also people taking the oral version and that may be better suited for some things. I have yet to try that.
Ok, ty for responding.
Aging does suck but it beats the alternative.
So exactly what is DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) and is it something that can be created in a garage? After all were getting rid of bill gates we can replace him with someone that makes DMSO, right!
Dimethylsulfoxide (Dmso) - Uses, Side Effects, and More

Many years ago I had a rash on my face that was becoming scaly and spreading. Saw a YouTube vid on washing with borax and water and letting dry on your face. Rash was gone in one week. Never took it orally though.
Thanks fren for the info. Will definitely take a look.
