Control over your own devices isn't a problem. It's how they setup the networks and the expectation it's NORMAL to be observed and watch electronically. It's all conditioning but it doesn't mean that the devices aren't used for good. You still use a car right? They can control and listen in those too now.
Remove the telematics module. You lose onboard maps, but you have android/apple auto for that if you need it - and you can heavily constrain what information your phone provides to the car.
My "car" is a 12v Cummins powered big ol long boy. There isn't anything listening in here and if there is it cannot hear over the heavy equipment motor that is under the hood.
Joking aside, I do not talk to voice systems on phones either. I also quit all social media in 2013. Now if everyone else would quietly and kindly turn off the faucet of data that would be good.

Sheesh, I'm sure glad I have an iPhone. Siri is better mannered than Google and Alexa, I'm 1000% sure.
