I burned my hand pretty good last week. I ran cold water on it and then DMSO cream. It quit hurting in about 10 minutes or less and never developed serious burn damage.
Do your due diligence and research this before you use it. It is a super absorber and if used wrongly can do more harm than good. I think it's a good thing, but use wisdom.
I have been using to treat a condition on one of my cats but I did buy a book on its use for animals.
I strongly agree with you. There are things people have to take into consideration before using it for their health. But once you figure it out, it’s so beneficial. Thanks for the warning in the heads up because it is important.
DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) was not completely banned. While the FDA did briefly restrict its use in the 1960s due to concerns about eye toxicity in animal studies, the ban was lifted and DMSO is now approved
Web MD: DMSO, or dimethyl sulfoxide, is a by-product of paper making. It comes from a substance found in wood.
DMSO has been used as an industrial solvent since the mid-1800s. From about the mid-20th century, researchers have explored its use as an anti-inflammatory agent.
The FDA has approved DMSO as a prescription medication for treating symptoms of painful bladder syndrome. It's also used under medical supervision to treat several other conditions, including shingles.
DMSO is easily absorbed by the skin. It's sometimes used to increase the body's absorption of other medications.
DMSO is available without a prescription most often in gel or cream form. It can be purchased in health food stores, by mail order, and on the Internet.
While it can sometimes be found as an oral supplement, its safety is unclear. DMSO is primarily used by applying it to the skin.
At the end of March of this year, I developed radial nerve palsy and I couldn't extend my fingers on my left hand. The neurologists did nothing for me other than running a lot of tests. I started rubbing DMSO cream on my hand, wrist, and forearm when I returned from the ER and all of the numbness went away and I regained full use of my hand.
At the end of June, I suffered a stroke, and had a number of related injuries. I left the hospital in a wheelchair and once I was home I started taking DMSO orally and I can now walk. I continue to use it topically and orally in an attempt to address the numbness and lack of feeling in my right arm and hand. I expect that it will work as well as it did before.
DMSO is an amazing, natural drug and I will have it in my medicine cabinet from now on.
My cousin has proved this with her 99 year old father. He’s had a few strokes/TIAs. She puts a few drops on his tongue and it pulls him back within a few hours, with signs that it’s working in minutes. They don’t even go to the hospital anymore when this happens.
Wow, that is awesome! Thanks for sharing. I was also thinking that DMSO would be a good self treatment for the micro-clots in those that took the shot.
Chat GPT summary of studies treating tinnitus with DMSO.
DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) and Tinnitus — Evidence Table & One-Page Summary
One-Page Summary (TL;DR)
There is a small body of historical and preclinical research exploring DMSO for inner-ear conditions and tinnitus.
Key signals:
Older uncontrolled clinical reports claimed symptom improvement in some patients.
Plausible mechanisms (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, vasodilatory, solvent/carrier properties) support hypothesis generation.
In vitro cochlear explant studies show concentration-dependent hair-cell toxicity at modest concentrations (≥0.5% in some reports).
Small animal intratympanic studies suggest low concentrations (≈0.5–1%) may be tolerated in vivo, but did not demonstrate clear therapeutic benefit in ototoxicity models.
Overall: Interesting preclinical rationale + weak/confounded human reports + real safety concerns. Self-administration near the ear is not recommended. The table below summarizes the most relevant studies and their limitations.
Evidence Table
Study (first author, year) Design & Model N / Subjects Route & Concentration Key Findings Main Limitations
Caro (1975) — clinical report Uncontrolled clinical series 15 patients (subjective tinnitus) Topical external canal spray + IM DMSO/vasodilator mix; regimen every 4 days + daily IM Reported tinnitus resolved in 9/15 and improved in others; effects lasted up to ~1 year in some Small, non-randomized, no placebo, combination therapy confounds attribution; limited methodological detail
Organotypic cochlear explant (neonatal rat) In vitro cochlear explant culture Explants (n variable) Bath applied DMSO 0.1%–6% Dose-dependent hair-cell toxicity: little/no damage at 0.1–0.25%; clear apoptosis and loss at ≥0.5% In vitro model — uncertain translation to adult human cochlea; neonatal tissue sensitivity differs from adult; exact protocols vary across labs
Roldán-Fidalgo et al. (2014) — intratympanic rat In vivo rat study (otoprotection model) Small cohort (rats) Intratympanic 0.5–1% DMSO 1% DMSO alone did not worsen auditory function; DMSO did not prevent cisplatin ototoxicity in this model Small animal sample; species differences; study tested otoprotection not tinnitus per se; lack of efficacy vs cisplatin
Reviews / Otology summaries (various, historical) Narrative reviews & textbook notes NA NA Consensus: historical trials were inconclusive; DMSO explored but never established as standard therapy Often secondary reporting; variable quality and dated; few modern controlled trials available
This is an excellent resource. I’ve read through these documents. What I like about this format is there so many other things you can click on and learn about other things as well. 👏👏👏
I saw someone comment about researching DMSO usage. This is true. You must make sure your skin is clean with no lotions or deodorants. Your hands must be clean too. I used 3% Hydrogen Peroxide on a cotton pad to clean my skin before applying DMSO. There are videos on YouTube and books available on Amazon that can help.
And also you’re not supposed to put on any gloves. If you put on a nitril early late text glove and apply the DMSO, whatever is in those gloves it gets pushed into your skin. So no gloves. Thanks for the reminder about that. Yes your skin has to be super clean.
Apply it liberally to all parts of your shoulder. Even under the armpit. There will be an itchy burning sensation for about 15-20 mins. With every use the itching tends to lessen. I would put it on at least 2 times per day, 3 if you feel you need it. I use 70% DMSO/30% aloe. It might not completely heal your injury but should improve it considerably. You could take a break for a week and start again to get more healing. My thumb was healed in a week. Not like a shoulder injury though. I also took it orally for fibromyalgia and had great results, but had to stop because the smell was too much for my family to handle. GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for the advice. It’s not a bad injury, it’s just something that popped up. That’s starting to cause me discomfort. Other than that, I can move my arm in my shoulder, pretty normally. But I figured why wait till later, when I could do something about it now. I have the role on, but it’s 99% and yes, it does burn when you put it on. I’m gonna buy the aloe that you mentioned. I have a link to it in Amazon. Thanks FREN.
I was the same. I had it for 6mos. Forgot about it. Then got an injury. I have found it to be completely safe. I’ve been giving it to my 91yo father for stroke recovery. He’s much improved.
I totally get it. I bought mine over six months ago and I haven’t used it yet. I have used the roll on before, for a spot that looks like it could be cancerous on my skin. It seems to work to be lightning it. And it’s diminishing.
There are a lot of things to take into consideration if you’re gonna start taking it orally. This should answer a bunch of questions. Keep it simple, my friend who weighs 160 pounds, she puts 10 drops into a glass, it has to be glass, not plastic, and then she pours cherry juice into it. She drinks it that way. You just have to be careful if you’re taking any pharmaceuticals or other medication’s. The DMSO will speed the metabolism of your meds. It’s recommended not to take any medication’s two hours before, or two hours after you’ve taken the DMSO.
I don’t know about that, but if it’s on the Internet and anybody can access it then it’s up to that person whether they want it to be public or not. I don’t run the website.
Only wet the fingertips sparingly and apply, not much is needed. I rinse hands immediately following and let the DMSO dry to touch where applied, only about 10 minutes.
One caution, if you take any prescription drugs DMSO can magnify what they do. Start with only one fingertip and apply that small amount to see how it affects you. Also it must dry before you cover the area or whatever is in your clothes can absorb into you blood. (I use redlight therapy on the area, dries in minutes. Normal dry time is 10-15 minutes.)
Thank you for saying that because I do take meds and supps! Important info. Also, I know nothing about the red light therapy. Is that specifically for eczema? I had heard there was some type of laser they used on it, but know nothing about that either. Any info you have is welcome. Thanks, fren.
Oh you are in for a treat. This doc is so based it's scary. He literally goes into multiple conspiracy, with excellent perspective. The benefits of red & infrared light is off the charts. And no, you don't need the insanely expensive ones. Got mine on Amazon for $39.
This is long but oh-so worth it and good at high speed.
Enjoy

Recently had an earache/infection. Took a z pack. Put a little dmso on the backside of my ear where it hurt. Did that for two days. The 3rd day i woke up and just couldn't hear out of that ear. Got a q-tip, and out came the biggest gob of wax/crap - problem solved. Never had that happen before, but also never used dmso before.
I didn't disclose the type of vitamin C and lysine I used until the third or fourth time I posted about the artery cleanse, mostly because I didn't want to be seen as "endorsing" anything.
But when anyone mind chiming in which brand they trust? Preferably something obtainable from Amazon.
I get nearly all vitamins from https://www.lifeextension.com, which is top quality. Not cheap, but prices become quite reasonable if you take advantage of sales and membership discounts.
I use the lysine from Now. I used to take the vit c in capsule form. Being an idiot, i got the big 1000mg uncoated ones. I got tired of gagging on them. Switch to liquid from Lipoblosom. Just squirt it in my water and wash down the lysine.
Hi John,
I'm reading this 4 months later, but here's my reply about brands
For Vit C I use sodium ascorbate powder by NutriBiotic (1/4 teas. = 1000mg)
For L Lysine I use Pure Encapsulations - both are labeled as being non-GMO.
I get them from Vitacost.com, where I buy most of my supplements.
Yeah, I bought glass bottles with glass droppers. So I can make different solutions distilled water if I want a 30% to 70% mix. I could put it in the bottle, and have the glass dropper. I haven’t done it yet, but I need to. It’s part of the plan. 😁
I burned my hand pretty good last week. I ran cold water on it and then DMSO cream. It quit hurting in about 10 minutes or less and never developed serious burn damage.
Same result twice with my kids. Ive been using it for a while and have many stories. It's great stuff
What brand, if you don't mind me asking?
Its called nature's gift and is 99.9 pure. 4 Oz jar, I bought it on Amazon IIRC.
Is this the one?
https://a.co/d/9X3SjCB
Same brand, but it has a brown label and a higher strength, but this would work fine i bet.
I use the one shown in the glass bottle shown on your link as you scroll up.
Thank you!
I buy mine from the feed store. I like the roll on, but good to have the gel on hand too. 15 years of stories about how amazingly well it works
I'll have to check our local feed store out then.

Will it make my penis larger? Asking for a friend.
Actually probably yes because it increases blood flow.
I’d be careful with rubbing that on partner, because it does burn and stinging if you put too much on. That would be a very sensitive area yikes. 😱

Apparently it can treat strokes directly, so that if you take it immediately, the stroke can be cleared before any significant damage is done.
I wish I had known. There was almost a 2 week gap before I started taking it.
Yes, believe a Fren used on their husband immediately with great success, mentioned in an older DMSO thread here.

Definitely something to look into. I wonder if dmso and pineapple juice, (bromelain), would be good or too much blood thinning. More research needed!
