Not all the Romanov’s bloodline were killed. A portion of the cousins fled to Poland first, and then into Finland or Sweden; if I remember the factual story. I think some of the left over Russian royal family also lives or lived in the US.
So Melania could possibly be a Romanov relative through related DNA if any part of this Fan Fiction is “based on fact”.
This theory would also explain why none of them would even acknowledge Melania, given how much they H A T E the Romanovs.
