I keep hearing from Trump's administration that "everything is historic" but this year, food, rent, and gas has all gone up. My roommate (mom) is depressed and losing hope. To be short, we both share an apartment. I've been losing hope. I cannot find and stable jobs, nor can she, and the cost of living could literally put us out of this place. We've been praying to God to protect Trump so he could make america great and affordable again. Does anyone here have any solutions on how to survive in this damn economy?

This has been my biggest frustration with Trump: The whole trillions of dollars investment he is selling us.
I haven’t seen that help Main Street at all. Tons of people losing their jobs.
the frustrating part is "historic, better than ever before" but I'm just not seeing it
I agree.
There is nothing for mainstreet. He keeps saying "Wages are up".
Yet people are struggling big time!
My wages are double what they were 10 years ago but the buying power is less now than then. I was better off financially when I made half as much. This whole system needs to go. Hell I've even quite paying credit cards off cuz fuk them and the credit score system and the usury of it all.
And taxes
My wages/income are way less than 10 years ago but I struggled through back then to get debt free and now I need a lot less to live on. Sacrifices are needed to get to that point (and maybe a little luck too) but you'll be happy once you get there. I see people saving for retirement while spending thousands a month just making minimum payments on their debt (not saying that is your case so don't take that personal). If they worked on paying off their debt, they wouldn't need as much to retire on.
Nowadays, I just buy things with cash - if I can't afford to do that, I figure I can find a better option or just save more money until I can afford it.
The problem with "wages are up" is nobody getting salary (which is a large part of the workforce) and a lot of hourly didn't get a sudden pay raise and won't until March/April of next year. Their pay is basically frozen as are any union contracted companies.
The only people seeing an increase are people getting new jobs after being unemployed or those job hopping for better pay.
We may see a surge after Q1 2026 when wages get reevaluated for the year if employers feel the economy is in good shape. I haven't had an annual raise keep up with inflation since Joe got into office.
Yup and I keep hearing about all these tech layoffs in the Seattle area but more and more and more East Indians keep coming. I am so sick of it.
I do consulting for a tech company in Seattle, I go there once every other month for about a week. Last time I showed up, not a white guy anywhere in the tech side. In just 6 weeks they'd swapped 25 normal dudes for 50 indian dudes.
That's scary bad.
This is very true. I live in Redmond.
I see construction going on and roadwork but that's only illegal aliens. None of them can speak any english
Honestly the way I view it. The only way to adapt and survive in this system is to be invested for the long term in Wall Street and similar assets (e g. Bitcoin).
Why? Becuase the system is rigged to make those assets always go up. Not investing is basically not an option.
Everyone should be putting at least 5 percent. Ideally more into investments. There are index funds where you don't have to buy an entire fund / stock unit so you can start investing for as little as $1.
This is largely due to the monetary policy we have, the currency is constantly being devalued, bailing out failing assets and big banka whenever there is a "crisis", etc.
Ofc this can only help you build weather long term. There will be crashes and days or months where your portfolio goes down. Guaranteed. For an imminent situation like OPs, it doesn't help much. But even still OP should invest $1 today and get in the habit of it .
Anyone who thinks the solution is index funds, I have a great deal on a bridge for you. Guaranteed return rate.
There are no guarantees just probabilities
No, the bridge definitely has a guaranteed return rate!
"A" solution. Not THE solution.
Not “a” solution, either.
Index funds are not only a big part of the problem, but opening yourself up to the Great Taking.
Bitcoin, bwahahahaha. Fake money.
If you are not invested in anything but hard assets I have some upcoming bad news for you.
It's helping the stock market. It hasn't done anything to help me at all. I guess I'm gonna hunker down until the first of the year and pray that the economy is getting better by then.
I agree.
The stock market is a bad indicator of real success.
Have you looked at Gas, it's down 25% according to Trump just yesterday!
He also said food is at a historic low.
Is that not the case?
Not where I am in eastern Washington. Gas prices are up here due to the green taxes and food prices haven't come down a bit, in fact beef prices are UP. Eggs are down from their high a few months ago, but they're up slightly from a year ago. I'm glad my freezer is full.
For me, the biggest cost increases this year have been insurance - car, home, and medical. My homeowners insurance alone is going to bite me for an additional C note a month. Property tax also went up. I know some people who own their homes that have simply stopped carrying home insurance because they just can't afford it. People like Newscum and the insurance companies love the idea.
It is getting harder for regular people considering income is not increasing, and for some, it is almost non existent. But it is not just us here here in the States, globally many others are in the same boat, if not worse. Much of the global unrest is being sparked because people simply can't survive. Those looking to start revolutions only need a slight shove to set off mass destruction.
Auto Insurance is fking INSANE right now... INSANE!!!
It was $200/mo pre-c19, now? $600/mo no tickets, no accidents, no claims whatsoever.
Legalized extortion, invented by the same Csuckers that do the magic money BS.
That's not Trumps fault. That is the democrats doing. Start speaking out against the democrats and their wasteful spending. The louder you get, the angrier the dems get. So be careful. But this is not gonna be pretty the latest election season 2026.
WA State is doom. Taxes on digital ads - Google, Meta, and Amazon Ads start on Oct 1.
Not sure.
I do know tons of people are losing their jobs and struggling.
I don't think that's true at all, Trump said yesterday more people are working then ever.
I am just going what my eyes see.
Food is fairly cheap. Gas, not so much...
Actually I just got back from the store, beef is INSANE, and so are eggs still.
Also, Gas was $3.10 by me.
$6.99/lb for Angus beef flat iron steaks. I just bought 20 lbs. I buy locally. The store buys locally. I try to keep the money local. I don't do big box stores.
Gas is $2.89 - $3.09.
