I used to watch a lot of movies, a couple a week at least in the winter. If it was a really good one, I'd go to the theater.
I haven't been inside a movie theater except once in ten years. I don't subscribe to any streaming services anymore for almost as long. If I have an interest in an old movie, then Argh Matey. There's virtually nothing recently produced I have an interest in watching. Last "new" movie I watched was Sisu in 2022.
I have plenty of disposable income and often could use a relaxing distraction. But I ain't buyin' what they're sellin'.
I also quit watching movies and there is hardly anything recent that I can stomach. Last year I discovered that all 9 seasons of Little House on the Prairie was on freevee, so we started watching from the beginning and would watch several episodes per week. That show covered every life lesson. The struggles they went through, the small town with people helping each other, and parents that didn’t always know the answers but figured it out. A family that prayed and had faith that God would get them through things. The consequences of lying, cheating, and bullying. IMO, it was the best TV series ever made and that is what we need back on our TV screens.
They saw everything was a "program" or psyop filled with bullshit they don't want in their heads.
It became primarily a psyop that may be entertaining... but mostly not.
Same as everything else though... when you're marketing to people asleep... like shit food with zero nutritional value they just keep a shoveling into their gullets..."Hey if they'll eat this slop, they'll watch THIS slop".... yanno?
This isn't going to be a popular opinion but ostensibly 90% of these jobs are blue collar people who have nothing to do with "above the line" producers and actors.
I remember the day i quit watching TV. was watching something on prime time, probably 7:00-8:00 time slot.
at first it was tolerable. There was about 5 minutes of programming then 3 minutes of commercial break. By 7:45 the ratio had flipped to 3 minutes of programming and 5 minutes of commercial.
At about 7:46 i got up off the couch and said fuck this shit and never looked back. i really wanted to see how the story ended, but the commercials were just too distracting and too long, and too often.
They absolutely ruin the experience by interrupting the show and distracting you and scrambling your thoughts. Its impossible for me to enjoy the show. I can’t keep the plotline in my head, so when they come back from commercials i already forgot who was who and what was what
In the end, i want to thank them for helping me break the TV habit, and ive been so much happier and productive ever since i quit TV
nice. this reminded me of my mother. She had a green card and was from England... because of her I was able to see faster... I stopped watching the news when I was still in Grammar School, but I always watched people watch the news and laughed at them...
in the Army my Mother would order me magazines like Time and I believe she did this knowing that during mail-call they would say my name and I would go retrieve my mail of propaganda news.... My mother was a troll before the internet existed. hahaha.
The people in the Army would give me stares and such and I would just get the mail and discard it but the perception is created by that..
"And the reason all that content failed to attract subscribers was because almost all of that content was shit, and almost all of that content was shit because it was poisoned with social justice, woketardery, gay stuff, grooming, obnoxious girl-bosses, and smug, humorless heroes"
And they will, bet on it. It's only a matter of time before we start seeing major-studio films that have no live actors at all. And no, I'm not talking about the usual Disneyesque animated films.
Hey Hollywood, leave them kids alone

I’m exactly the same, except I pay for YouTube ad-free.
Regular people on YouTube have channels with much better and more interesting content than anything on commercial TV imo.
Why pay for youtube when an ad blocker does the same thing, but with the added benefit of not giving Google money.
Exactly, once you see it for what it is (garbage) its hard to un-see and enjoy it. I take same approach as you.
They have confused propaganda with entertainment
I am enjoying thier slow and painful death. May it continue.

Someone please drive the stake in now!! No more Hollywood crap.
However at Angel studios....
it's a shame. Movies could be great with the advancement they've made. Must be dreaming again.

Billy Joel, “Say Goodbye to Hollywood”.
I think about 2017ish, I read an in depth blog post discussing how Hollywood would be dead by 2025 because:
I gotta deep dive and see if it was archived because that guy was spot on.

Hollywood vs A.I. Influencing the mind yields great power - Streaming
Starting to see why Trump said he was planning to build a new Hollywood in Nevada yet?
The boss knows what he's doing. Give me my ten new super cities, baby!
Those werent real jobs. They produced nothing of value.
good to hear. I never gave into the hollywood idiots anyway or music industry premade bands/people
They don't care. They have AI to make future movies with.

SO MUCH WINNING!!!
Hey, when I want entertainment, I come here to GW.

We didn’t follow the stars...we saw through them
Good! Clean it up or shut it down, and all the woke hollyweird folks can kick rocks.
Hey... wasn't Mark Wahlberg, Mel Gibson and some others going to open a new type of studios in Vegas?

Is this why I'm seeing them on cheap commercials touting cheap apps?
