Right? Make it embarrassing, those cards look like you're just using a credit card. Have only one cash register that accepts EBT so there's a huge line and tax payers can get in and out of the store quickly (it's not like anyone on food stamps is in a rush to get to work).
They sell them. I used to buy my addict uncle's food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar. I'm sure lot's of shady restaurants would love to cut their costs in half, $30 jug of curry sauce or soy sauce for 15$
time to end snap altogether. then anyone who truly needs can apply for them and be approved only when needs are truly proven. we taxpayers are so sick of getting screwed and not even getting kissed!!

I know of several people scamming their tax returns claiming to “babysit” each other’s kids for write offs and refunds. They even recruit others to be in their “pool” of daycare providers.
20 years ago the Milwaukee Journal, lefty as they are, wrote a 5 piece expose of how bad the food stamp fraud in Wisconsin was. The first couple days, everyone was talking about it. The third day, it wasn’t there. No explanation, just abandoned. The fact that the state silenced them told us all we needed to know.
Not surprising, since inception, they were traded for booze, smokes, etc. Once it went digital, it was bound to happen, when they had the actual monopoly money it was harder to get away with huge scams like this. We (the people made a stink about this, to keep it very state funded and to keep up with the monopoly money and the tubs of peanut butter, flour, rice, pork and blocks of cheese. If someone wants to trade a block of cheese for case of beer, not the same thing as this scam.
They forget that us plebs live in the real world. I used to be pretty lefty but I never bought into the idea that fraud wasn’t a problem because I knew about those stores. Seeing people blindly refuse to talk about the issue and deny deny deny was one of the many things that made me start to shift away.
This is just one of the reasons they need to go back to "Stamps" or coupons for specific items like WIC.
They did the same with food stamps.

This also happened in Mass when Deval Patrick was the gov. Only one local talk show was talking about it.
