Actually railroad time. The railroads set up the standard time zones for train scheduling purposes. Real local time varies from town to town and made scheduling very difficult.
Republicans may have noticed the citizens they represent are getting upset at their complete non-action. Now they're gonna be like, look! We're doing stuff!
now that change would cost a crap ton of money. Imagine all of the payroll calendars that would change across the USA. Some places pay on the 1st and 15th, some on the 15th and last day of the month, some months have 5 paydays if they pay weekly - all of those would have to change their payroll, databases, wait for their payroll companies fix their systems, computer software and operating systems would have to patch calendar routines... lots of expensive change.
Then think of all the calendars. All of those places that make things like Firefighter or Hot Babes with Guns calendars would have to find a 13th model. Well, maybe that isn't a big issue but it would have to happen...
Really, when we "Spring Forward", we should do 1/2 hour and then make it permanent.
So if you live near the 40th latitude, you get roughly 8a to 5p in winter, and 5a to 8p in summer.
Trump actually spoke about this. He researched it and it is basically a 50/50 issue. Based largely around where in the US you live. North wants no daylight savings, AZ ignores it. A lot of the rest of the country can take it or leave it.
I'm in the relative North, and most of us from where I'm at would like it permanent. The only ones who dont are farmers. I'd rather the sun go down between 9 and 10. Going 6 months of the year with pretty much no sunlight sucks.
Then you must love getting up at 4 am and having it get dark sooner in the afternoon. I couldn't give two shits when the sun comes up, because most of us are just getting ready for work, going to work, and working at that point in time. I'd rather have that extra hour of sunlight in the afternoon when it actually matters.
Farmers don't care what the clocks say. They work from sunup to sundown. I'd much rather have standard time year round. That's what we had when I was growing up. A better standard would be to use GMT or Zulu time, which would be the same everywhere in the world.
Businesses can choose when to open, regardless of what the clock says. The time zones were created in the US by the railroad companies to get away from local sun time. People used to need to know local time in various cities when traveling.
This issue is like 100th on our list of problems but... Standard time is the way to roll. Anyone who gets up 6:30 or earlier can attest to how late the sun comes up in fall before we go back to regular time.
This should be a nationwide ballot issue and not a law needing congressional floor voting arguments. Congress is too inept to make this choice for us. Fuckin' clown show only works so many days and they can only duck, dodge and dither so much in the allotted time before campaign fund raising intervenes.
I literally don't even realize when the time changes happen other than it getting dark early as fuck. As in, I dont even know it has happened until I'm like "wtf it's dark already?"
If people want that not to happen so abruptly, I'm cool with that. I'm also cool with it staying the way it is. There are pros and cons to both sides that I looked into before.
As others have said, I feel there are more important issues to think about, but you can do more than one thing at the same time.
I'd like standard time, but I would also go for Zulu time, which is the same all over the world. I don't like DST. It doesn't really save any daylight. Blame Benjamin Franklin and who he thought were lazy French store owners.
BTW, for farmers, it doesn't matter a bit what the clock says.
just please keep standard time
That's our preference also... God's Time
Actually railroad time. The railroads set up the standard time zones for train scheduling purposes. Real local time varies from town to town and made scheduling very difficult.
Right. We sure don't need to save any daylight in Alaska. Even in the winter - we just adjust.
Yes, make noon the middle of the day ugh - they can’t even get that right
Why are they working on this frivolous stuff when there's so much fraud they need to be taken care of and putting the Safe Act into effect?
Changing people's timing throws off their sarcadian rhythm which keeps your vibration out of sinc. It's a really big deal
I would think fraud and stealing our tax dollars is way more important.
A close second to fucking with our physical and mental health
I'm not making excuses for the retarded congregation, they stumbled upon an issue without knowing it.
It wastes energy, costing people more money. The sooner it changes the better.
There are more important things right now.
My bad , circadian
Who knows GG...
SMH.
Republicans may have noticed the citizens they represent are getting upset at their complete non-action. Now they're gonna be like, look! We're doing stuff!
Just the absolute lowest priority though.
Yes.
Now let’s flip the script and re-introduce the 13 month 28 day calendar.
YES!!!

Extra check for us on SS !
I think there are old calendars we can refer to. Sept=7 Oct= 8 Nov=11 Dec= 10
April 1st = New Year’s Day That’s why they dubbed it: April fools
Looks like this proposed in 1902, and the 13th month was called SOL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Fixed_Calendar#:~:text=The%20International%20Fixed%20Calendar%20(also,months%20of%2028%20days%20each.

That’s what I want
Trump actually spoke about this. He researched it and it is basically a 50/50 issue. Based largely around where in the US you live. North wants no daylight savings, AZ ignores it. A lot of the rest of the country can take it or leave it.
Fixing it is literally a waste of time.
I'm in the relative North, and most of us from where I'm at would like it permanent. The only ones who dont are farmers. I'd rather the sun go down between 9 and 10. Going 6 months of the year with pretty much no sunlight sucks.
"I'm in the relative North, and most of us from where I'm at would like it permanent."
I'm in PA, and most of us from where I'm at are sick and tired of 'Daylight time."

Why would farmers care? There is the same amount of daylight regardless of what “time” it is.

I agree!

I'm up at 2:30 every weekday. Can confirm I hate the time change.
This should be a nationwide ballot issue and not a law needing congressional floor voting arguments. Congress is too inept to make this choice for us. Fuckin' clown show only works so many days and they can only duck, dodge and dither so much in the allotted time before campaign fund raising intervenes.
It's not a big issue, but it is an issue.
If you do any business internationally, it's a royal PITA when we go on and off DST when you're trying to schedule a meeting.
Truth!
GMT would be better for business, especially international.
Now fix our ridiculous calendar.

Exactly fren!
The change really messes me up, every time. Can't sleep etc...
THEY STEAL BILLIONS, but on the way out they throw us a little doggie treat.
See a pattern 🤣
Absolutely!

About time.
I personally dont care which one (std/dst), if this EVER gets done I will adapt.
This is a distraction technique usually.
Is this really the priority in congress. I mean these guys dont come tonour houses and turn our clocks back do they. Lets just stop following it.
Just please make the decision long before the day of…
I started out so children didn't walk to school in the dark
My ancestors, including children, got up at 430 am, to get the animals ready to hitch to the plow, while mother and other children prepared breakfast.
I am guessing it was dark.
That was the justification given to the public. True reason is to weaken the poilation. Death by a thousand cuts
