FedEx also collects tariffs from US companies the receive packages from overseas in the USA. Many times with over collections and incorrectly assigned harmonized codes. They are nearly impossible to correct and get adjusted properly with FedEx when they make mistakes. They should be sued as well!
I can only guess from what I know of FedEx. Which is a fair amount.
They've outsourced drivers to 3rd party. My son drives for "FedEx", but he's not really a FedEx driver. And he's not paid like one either. No benefits offered that I'm aware of. Much like Amazon drivers.
So if I extend this to what I know about illegals, especially here in NJ where they can obtain a driver's license, I'm going to presume that this move is from a marxist organization that hides behind the FedEx banner while ripping off the country and fucking over American workers.
The tariff suit, as I understand it, is if the consumer fails or refuses to pay it on import, FedEx pays it. That alone doesn't make any sense, but I'm assuming that's what they're going to sue for.
FedEx acts as a customs broker and pays the duties in items shipped through them. Then they bill the importer for the customs fees.
I’m no legal eagle, but the FedEx suit seems like it would complicate things. If the importers file claims for the same charges that will be a mess to sort out. Plus, it would seem the appropriate defendant for the FedEx claim would be the importer of record, not the Federal Government.
So, is this like the Somali fraud. They are suing for something that isn't their loss, to get money that is supposed to go to someone else? ( or not go anywhere)
Oh yeah. I seem to recall something about the Chinese using small quantity loophole that was removed. Fed Ex and Amazon We're likely both involved in that.
Edit I think that temu was the big exploited of that loophole.
I haven't dug into Fedex, but my experience as a customer feels a lot like every other company that has been swallowed up by private equity.
It feels like the whole organization is being exploited with H1Bs, cost cutting, and quality slashing purely for short term profit before customers realize the whole shebang has gone to shit, then they'll be left with a hollow husk of their former greatness surrounded by a bunch of unemployed workers while the controlling owners walk away with their gains rubbing their hands together, to go on to destroy another great American company so they can line their pockets.
I don't understand the logistics of FedEx. I got a package several weeks ago from Delaware. It went from DE to NJ to VA and then my house. Last Friday, I got another package (as ordered) from Delaware, but it went from DE to NJ to Memphis, TN to VA and then my house. Why would a package be sent all the way west to Memphis? That seems like a waste of time and money.
I know about the Memphis hub, but I still wonder why one shipment came straight down to me, and the other was sent to Memphis first. That seems a total waste on the second shipment. The shipments were identical in all respects, being the same materials from the same shipper, just two weeks apart.
The ceo is Indian and a lot of his hires have been h1-b over Americans so maybe that’s why. Something to do with that??
FedEx is an occupied American born Corporation. Systemically firing Whites and hiring POC. They are at War with us.
I don't think H1b falls under tarriffs, but the article does not give much detail...
it's Indian retaliation
The british are behind the pajeetery...
300 years they've been in India
Ta-Ta!
Now about that FDIC...and getting your "govt insured" money back...
They pay you installments...over 10 years.
Have a nice day!
Keep stacking...

The Gig Economy has to pay a percentage of gross payments to the Pension Funds or they will be empty in 20 years.

Trying to stir up trouble. They are not going to get any tariff money back. Assuming that they paid any at all.
A simple question: If you paid $100 for an item before the tariff and you paid $100 for the same item after the tariff, who really paid the tariff?

There is a FedEx plane hub in Memphis.

Perhaps an error, time my issues or weather?..
