The story of Gilgamesh is from a poem written about a "maybe" real person around 2000 BCE. However, Gilgamesh is in the Book of Giants ( and mentioned in the Book of Watchers ) and is said to have been real, and a giant himself.
Iraq is basically where ancient Sumer / Sumeria was and that is significant to these theories. To continue down this particular rabbit hole ( Gilgamesh ), I highly suggest you take the off ramp to the Sumerian King list - and it's a little nuts if it's actually true.
Fake story to smoke out that leaker? You know, the WHs have known exactly who many of the cabal minions are for years, maybe decades, but still they need to give the beasts an opportunity to ply their evil in a way they can nail them in a more public way.
