About a decade ago India announced the same Windows-for-Linux switch. The Indian government was immediately swarmed by Microsoft sales reps and given an offer they couldn't refuse. They stayed.
Let's see how this one plays out. Windows 11 may turn out to be Microsoft's Botch Too Big To Salvage.
The reason why everyone is jumping ship is because WINDOWS 11 WAS DONE BY A BUNCH OF FOREIGN PROGRAMMERS WHO THOUGHT THEY WERE SMARTER THAN THE AMERICAN PROGRAMMER(s)!!!!!!!

Linux is a US based organisation even if its globally open sourced. The main builds to my knowledge are redhat and Ubuntu. The first is American, the second is British. So unless they are moving to Ubuntu builds the "reduction of reliance on American tech giants" is nonsense.
Don't get me wrong, I'm destesting ms as an entity and an os lately. My pc decided it couldn't find the programs for modifying display settings suddenly the other day, and as it defaults to kin brightness when I start it up lately it took a while to fix it. So yeah fed up with windows lately, and don't disagree with the decision they made.
All that said... Yeah.... fuck France.
I think Germany made the switch several years ago. I personally switched about 15 years ago. I’ve hated M$ for even longer.
I switched in 1992. Back then it was Slackware, installed from 3.5 floppies, and manually building the kernel and X11.
I think that's about the time I was using OS/2. It would actually multi-task, and Windows programs ran better with that than on it's own platform. I don't think I would have attempted to manually build that stuff. Good on you.

Someone sold them on the idea of Linux is due to the fact that Linux can be downloaded from anywhere!!!!!!! However, it takes a "TRUE" TECHY to keep all the systems updated!!!!!!
