"There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That's one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do we arm the other 11?"
Interesting - I am in UK with 5.1 firearms per 100 people. Not a great show against USA 120.1 per 100.
It's not a straight comparison though as even legally owned firearms here have many restrictions the USA does not have, for example no semi-auto except rimfires. Also you can't just buy firearms there is a background and psych check and a very long waiting period typically 9 months.
Very low-powered airguns here (restricted to 12ft/lb of force) are legally classed as firearms so many of that 5.1 headline figure will be those. Not toys but not really guns either.
Just so you know, depending on what state you reside in, there are lots of checks too in the US. Including state, local and FBI background checks and limits on how many you can buy in a certain period of time - especially pistols.
European friends visiting were under the impression that 7-11 sold guns and anybody could walk in and buy one like a burner phone... Not the case. Same with Walmart - which again, highly depends on the individual state.
For those that still don't know, "semi-automatic" just means, one shot per trigger pull - and the next round is loaded. "Machine guns" or "fully automatic" are reserved for military only. Civilians are not allowed to have them here. Although there are certain exceptions to that - grandfather law etc but rare
Not everyone has a gun here... but it's VERY rare - like tater chips - that anybody has just one. I'd venture to say that the AVERAGE owner has at least 3, if not more - to cover the basics: Usually 2 pistols, a shotgun and a rifle. Kinda like having a full set of screwdrivers - each serves a different purpose and situation.
Everything I learned about UK firearms, I learned by watching Doc Martin π
WRONG on the fully Automatic, you can acquire a permit usually around $200 or more from the ATF for SBR/FULL AUTO/SUPPRESSOR/ ,now some laws have just changed thru the SCOTUS on certain CC/OPEN CARRY/PERMITTING/REGISTRATIONS/STATE&FEDERAL PARKS/SUPPRESSORS' ,although all 50 states and the DC are different in many of the courts decisions ,Reciprocity is still up to Congress for Debate.
USA USA USA........ got my share
WE be on same-same page!!! ππππππππππ
120.5 per 100? Those are still rookie numbers.
C'mon America!!!! We can do much better that that!!!! A good target would be 300 per 100.
Of the people who do own guns. I bet it does reach the #'s you're looking for.
I don't know a gun owner who owns less than 3.

Correct. Additionally, most folks don't realize the price tags that accompany full auto hardware.
Ahh, so you want a real Colt M4 huh? Sure, but hat'll damn near set you back the cost of a new car though.
Thanks for the update - it's a no go in my state
Your comment reminded me of the "expert" that can fire full semi automatic. Sorry in advance for the CNN link.

A rifle behind every blade of grass, lol.
Should be 120.4. I lost mine when I got caught in 6 foot swells in a 12 foot boat on my way to a gun buyback event. What a shame that day was.
Hahah saw that coming.
I can't believe South Korea is at the bottom.
If you want to see an incredible collection of firearms you should check out "The Collector" on YT.
Absolutely mind blowing!
C'mon, America, we CAN do better!
Fake news. It's actually waaaaay higher! LOL!!! But you can always come and find out.
And we need to hold on tight! Too many shootings for my liking lately, which is the demon-rats platform to disarm.
If you have a pulse you need to vote and keep the traitors away from any elected office. And if you can, run for office yourself.
We need pro-Americans in our gov.
Vast majority of βshootingsβ are teen age Dindoβs doing gang and theft crap. Subtract those and shootings are rare.
Subtract data from 10 most violent dim run cities and the USA is 4th least violentβ¦in the world.
Plus we have the best national hockey team, both men AND women. Coincidence? There are no coincidences!!
Over 100%. Kek
Odd that some of the higher percent countries were βenemiesβ of Hillary member when she went on and on about Macedonia
