I'm not so quick to blame the kids on this one. My daughter graduates in 2 weeks with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from a top school. While she has a job in her field after graduation, almost none of her peers can find a job in their field. I'm hearing similar stories for other Engineering degrees. I don't think that's normal but I'm not in the job market.
That is unusual. Usually firms snatch up junior engineers. When the democrats run things, there is a lack of new starts for senior engineers, especially in defense. I expect things in both categories will pick up in the latter half of the year. The industry took in quite a few of the government workers who took the deal. That probably created a temporary glut.
Where is the understanding and empathy? The job market is bleak. Costs are outrageous. Many of the good blue Collar jobs are being stolen by East Indians. The only thing running the economy is generational wealth and that is weakening by the day. The USA is being destroyed economically, spiritually and culturally.
It always amazes me the amount of hate the younger people get in these types of posts. Maybe I'm the one who is out of touch because the younger people around me all have jobs and are, for the most part, hard workers, but then I'm in farm/ranch country so not working isn't much of an option.
Also, 1,002 people is a pretty small sample. I wouldn't come to any conclusions based on that.
Yeah, blame the kids for the education system and for their parents having to work two jobs so they're essentially absent 90% of their lives.
Blame them for the media and society convincing their parents and grandparents that divorce is fine if conflict feels inconvenient.
Blame them for their families never taking them to church or talking to them about school or politics.
Blame the kids for mega corps selling all our jobs overseas and importing H1-Bs.
Blame the kids for quadrupling the cost of living within the last decade.
It's all their fault.
I look forward to the hateful boomers dying off. Absolutely zero empathy for people who were kneecapped by the government and society their whole life.
Don’t go that far, but there is definitely room for improvement on realizing that we are running dangerously low on burrito coverings.
Yes, I know I’m being generous.
Boomers need to realize that youth have no capital, the job market sucks in a lot of places for a while now, and there is hiring preferences in a lot of places for foreigners.

Who does? I only know one person that has a new phone and it's because it was free with switching phone providers. Do you even know someone under the age of 35?
Polyworking is a thing. Where you can't find FT job, but can find multiple PT Jobs.
I'm not looking to return to FT work, but my company now has an App where they can post temporary, new sites, and call offs. They now have a lot of people chomping at the bit to get shifts. Often they want someone with under 40 hours in.
Contrast that with 2024 and earlier, where those of us who wanted OT could get it.
They used to be trouble covering short shifts, now people snap up the 4-6 hour pop-ups.
This is security guard work and they never had the ability to eliminate most OT before.
If you don't have hard to get skills, count on no FT jobs in many fields. I am 68 and will work from the APP every once in a while just for extra pocket money.
A prime example of Polyworking would be delivery and rideshare. Many of these drivers are doing multiple jobs at the same time taking whatever is the most lucrative run. Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, etc...
Uber rates are climbing slowly up, is it that there are less illegals now?

Agreed. Things look pretty bleak from where I’m standing as well.

So is your daddy/grandpa dead yet?
He is.
Good. The less boomers the better as far as your concerned....
Cool!
Yet they all have the latest iPhones.
Who does? I only know one person that has a new phone and it's because it was free with switching phone providers. Do you even know someone under the age of 35?
Go away troll low comment score.
Lmao sorry I didn't mean to disturb your false reality. It'll be okay, grandpa.
Please do more ever comment to me again.

Lazy fucks
Tell em to git their ass out and git a job! Plenty of opportunities.
Ok boomer lol
Yeah! When my adult kids blame Trump for the bad economy I just say Get outta my house!
;)
And yet I constantly hear employers talk about how hard it is to find good employees.
Looks more like a mismatch between what jobs young people are looking for and what actually exists.
Translation: People that actually want to work....
And have a work ethic.
You guys are on target.

81% of young adults probably couldn't tell you which side won the Civil War, or even which decade it was fought.
81% of young adults also have never read a novel.
Education standards have fallen so far.
Who's fault is that: the kids or their parents?
Attitude adjustment recommended. jmo
