Congress has recently advanced legislation to ban insider trading by government officials. On July 22, 2026, the House of Representatives passed the Stop Insider Trading Act in a 232-198 vote.
A ban on trading corporate stocks. What's the whats the penalty for violating this ban? Another useless censure? Are there other "stock-like" entities that would do the same thing for them, like 2x ETF's?
If they make a federal law, then the penalty is in the law. It's also a felony by default because its a federal statute.
Getting a felony in congress is a big deal, can lead to losing spot in influential committees, can lead to censure or expulsion
Also, the US Media can refer to a violator as a "FELON" instead of "Senator" or "Representative", and they cannot sue you because it is a material fact.
You can say "Felon Pelosi commented strangely today about continuity of government...."
It hasn’t cleared the Senate, and I doubt that this Senate will pass it. Right now, there are too many bills that passed the House just sitting in the Senate with no movement.
No you didn't. You voted on something that everyone knows will never get passed into law. You did it so you could get on social media and score points with idiots who fall for this shit over and over again. And you did this instead of doing anything productive for the country.
Did it pass the Senate... Did President Trump sign it... If not it ain't banned
It’s actually supposed to be illegal already anyway. Mostly what they achieved was a “Look we’re doing something”
Don't think POTUS signed it yet.

As a regular person if I did insider trading, I would be in jail. Why don't the same thing happen to them!
Rules for thee but not for me.
No... No... Correct

How about the people from that state kicked them out of their positions? Citizens are their bosses, you know.
They, Congress, doesn't seem to know.
Because we have been asleep. Me too.
She did clarify individual corporate stocks. So I assume packaged funds are ok.

It was never really legal and they get to keep their money and no one cares.
Of course.

Sure hope.
Pretty sure it was already illegal
Nobody enforcing it?
I'm pretty sure there won't be arrests once it becomes illegal again.
Not yet. It still has to be approved by the Senate and signed into law by President Trump.
Counting chickens.
Howls. I need to remember not to count eggs.
Fuck you Kat, it’s all about you and traitors sitting beside you getting elected. The devil is in the details and you are a cunt.
Wasnt it already illegal?
This woman is a gaslighting twat for saying it passed 'for congress'
It passed the house only --- "07/22/2026-4:52pmOn passage Passed by the Yeas and Nays: 232 - 198 (Roll no. 280). Action By: House of Representatives"
Now goes to senate.
Hopefully it goes through
The punishment is a $2000 fine? This will stop no one taking in millions.
How about kick out of office? We need to start doing that.
What about spouses? Congress can still pass information to family and friends.
The bill specified that.

LOL. I am the idiot who fall for it every time.
