Determination of "top speed" is notoriously uncertain, because you are operating somewhere near the engine's (and vehicle's) limit of integrity. My point is that there is no precision involved in this, and you admit that the number for the tyrannosaurus was pulled out of the air at the time. If you can't stand up to a claim being taken seriously, you shouldn't make the claim.
The fact that Air Force One was en route to Asia at the time makes any such "intercept" a physical impossibility. Submarines do not have anti-aircraft systems with on-board tracking, nor missiles with the required range, not the ability to track over the horizon. Those who continue this line of speculation clearly have no idea how surface-to-air missile systems work and what their limitations are.
My examination of the photo persuades me to accept that it may have been a rogue launch of an SLBM on a trajectory to Russia, negated in boost by a "classified package" as Q described it. A successful hit on Russia would have stirred the pot considerably. So few here have any idea of what kind of bullet we dodged.
Something is impossible if it can't happen. If there are no happenings, there can be no mathematics. It is an empty challenge. Plenty of coincidences happen for the first (and only) time.
The comparison with the Model T automobile is risible. The top speed of the 1908 model was 42 mph, and the estimated running speed of the tyrannosaurus was anywhere from 10 to 45 mph. Of course, it helps to fictitiously claim exactitude in order to argue for precise coincidence.
Meanwhile, folks in Utah at the Dinosaur National Monument are still digging dinosaur bones out of 150-million-year-old mountain rock.
History is replete with plans and plots that unravel and go out of control. What we have is today, and today Hamas has cheerfully committed mass atrocities, with the support of its supposed population. Whether or not there is anyone in the Israeli government implicated in the attack is a matter separate from what to do about the attack. Any and all malefactors should be captured, tried, and sentenced accordingly---but the terror-genocide gets no such pass. The slogan arose from a time when the objective of Hamas (and its predecessors) was the complete extirpation of Israel and Israelis, so white-washing it will not work, either. "The jews have perpetrated..." is simple evidence of your own anti-Semitic outlook.
As usual, no one thinks about bridges until something happens---and then they are amazed that things can happen, and object to a world in which things are happening...and that anything happening is ipso facto evidence of evil-doing.
I've lived in a region that has plenty of bridges. Ships running into them and putting them out of commission until replacement or repair. Or natural events (storms) causing significant damage to be repaired. Or major improvements implemented to accommodate traffic growth. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge was dramatically destroyed by winds in its first incarnation ("Galloping Gertie"), before it was even completed. So, for us, who pay attention to bridges, concern and caution are the order of the day.
Elevated highway causeways are another concern, and earthquakes have caused a lot of damage thereby. We fix and repair...and forget.
More likely they were told it was "okay for now." "Now" tends to go on for decades as Department of Transportation (state & federal) have budget priorities fixed on de-automotivating society. NASA did that for a long time with the space shuttle external tank foam shedding, until the Columbia disaster, whereupon they went "Oops." Boeing released the MCAS software on the 737 MAX without testing it in a critical failure scenario. "It's only a minor code rewrite." All these people knew better, but had no integrity in the face of kicking the can down the road. Simple human lapses of judgment and character, not a conspiracy.
You think you can have vicious dogs on a leash...and you find they have chewed through the leash. Plenty of room for mistake, but the culpability must be proven, not rumored and simply assumed to be fact. It doesn't stop the Gazans from being enthusiastic supporters of Israel's genocide, 75% approving.
I truly don't understand that. Most people are sensibly averse to looking directly at the sun, but the warning is always given so long as I have been alive. One might suppose this could be relaxed once the eclipse is in progress and totality has been reached. I have been told that it is even dangerous to look at the sun at totality, but I can't credit it. The only thing you can see at that point is the corona, and the sky is brighter than that all the time, and we are in no danger from looking at the sky. "Look at it only through smoked glass." I have a hard enough time going out in broad daylight and being dazzled by the brightness.
Incidentally, there is a plot twist in the movie "The Four Feathers" (1939) where one of the characters (Ralph Richardson) goes blind in the desert from looking at the sun too much. (It is a great movie, worth watching.)
It's been repeatedly pointed out that internal polling of Gazans shows ~75% support of Hamas, whom they voted-in as their government. The Gazans are "all in" with Hamas. Hamas committed unspeakable crimes of terror during a cease-fire. It is the last straw. Israel has no obligation to tolerate an openly genocidal and belligerent adversary on their own border. To say they must is simply taking the Hamas side of genocide against Israel and Israelis. To my view, Hamas against the Israelis is no different in principle than Ukraine against the Donbass Russians. Their ruling power must be destroyed for any hope of peace. At least Ukrainians have room to hide. Gazans have made their bed.
The Earth rotates underneath the orbits, which makes it seem that the orbital paths are moving around the Earth (not to be confused with the fact that the satellites are indeed moving around the Earth).
"We" are on the Earth. The orbits are not on the Earth, but they typically go eastward because that is the easiest way to launch satellites. If they are not equatorial, half of the time they will be going northward and the other half of the time they will be going southward.
What "x"? Are you referring to the star on the left side? Or are you referring to the intersection of the two orbits? Surely, you realize that is an artifact of this simplistic representation. Orbital mechanics has been around for centuries.
This is nonsense. Those are not eclipse paths; they are orbits. And they could hardly be anywhere else on the logo. An equatorial orbit would be out of view and a polar orbit would go through the Eagle. Not a "coincidence." Not even a similarity for anyone who knows what they are looking at.
And you are losing your bearings about where the "moral ground" is located. It is established by international treaty that situating military forces in civilian structures or venues is an Act of War, being the use of human shields. No belligerent is required to respect such shields. The CLASSIC example is putting soldiers and military operations in a hospital and relying on the red cross painted on the roof to protect you from being bombed. That is exactly what Hamas did with the hospital in Gaza. It has also been the standard approach in Ukraine, whereby Zelensky & Co. can point to Russia as being a "war criminal" when they are the ones performing the war crimes.
I.e., they have lost their fucking minds. In so many things, it is like there has been a cultural-wide amnesia of all knowledge. This is what happens when a primitive people have never seen nor heard of an eclipse. The sky will fall. Likewise, major accidents have also never happened before and seem to be a violation of the natural order of "nothing happens". Earthquakes. Hurricanes. Tornadoes. Volcanic eruptions. Never before experienced in all history. But wait---no one reads history any more! "It is all lies."
Possible lack-of-thought process: "Since they are not citizens, our laws have no applicability to them." (Not arguing, but it wouldn't surprise me.)
Ah. No problem. My default is to take everyone seriously unless flags are up.
DoE has authority over nuclear reactors. And nuclear weapons. Remember Admiral Hyman Rickover? He had two hats, DoD and DoE.
And that means zero in the world of clearances. It also means the set of rational numbers. There are all kinds of usages for the letter Q.
That would not be unusual for the Navy, which operates aircraft carriers and submarines propelled and powered by nuclear reactors.
Not true. I was in line for Q clearance, but the circumstances changed and it never came to pass. (I have held a Critical Nuclear Weapon Design Information [CNWDI] clearance.) It was discussed in the clear. The characteristics of clearance levels are not necessarily classified, or one would have to be read into that level before they could know about it. This sort of obscuration is reserved for compartmented programs, not clearance levels per se.
Yep, I took you to mean future events, not even that this was a "DEW event." But my remark was that there first must exist such "events" before it makes sense to "prepare" against them. People have actually been killed by being hit with a meteor, but do we "prepare" against that? (Aside from the question about how it might be possible to do so.)
We have people already spooling up to raise the flag of "demolition charges," who see things that weren't there and believe the collapse of a truss structure is mysterious. All the intersection points in a truss structure are crucial, because they transfer loads and allow the structure to bear them. If a key support is taken out of the equation, those loads don't go away. They force the destruction of the remaining truss by unbalanced loads, and the whole structure unzips.
The requirements for a bridge are set by people farther up the expertise chain than we are. Should an airport be able to handle a direct hit by a crashing 747? Should every highway lampost be able to handle a direct hit by a semi-trailer? There comes a point where the trade study incorporates the cost of preventive measures instead of the cost of building a miniature fortress that would experience damage anyway. I expect more will come out about the criteria used for the bridge design.
Except that it doesn't.
Most manifestly, you are anti-Israel and exculpatory toward Islamist terrorists.
