The film went to Washington DC to be edited. Disney invented the multi-plane camera but by the 1960s the CIA or the FBI could easily have had their own multi-plane camera at their disposal.
When the film was edited into what we see today, it could have been projected onto a screen. The fakers could simply film this "new version" of the assassination using a Brownie camera identical to Zapruder's.
Kodak's 8mm film cameras did not capture images in sharp focus. The blurriness of a second generation film would pass for first generation, and the piece of film would give all the appearance of never having been edited as it was not edited, but merely filmed off a screen (or perhaps copied in a Moviola device.) But the Zapruder film we are allowed to see is not the film Zapruder actually shot.
Zapruder was paid well by Life magazine for the film, and his family was paid even better decades later by the federal government. Their silence was purchased.

The film was faked with the use of a multi-p[lane camera, a device developed by the Disney Studios in the late 1930s. The multi-plane camera allows you to create what appears to be one piece of film from what is actually a stack of several images each on its own transparent surface. The sweeping view of Pinocchio's village in which the camera almost seems to be floating through space was created with the multi-plane camera.
They would have copied Zapruder's film several times over, masking different portions of the image in each copy. Thus one would show only the limo and its occupants. Another would show people in the background. Another would contain only foreground objects, et cetera. Each of these separate films could then be re-assembled to create a new version of the event.
The first "plane" of the picture would be used to add cover-up images, like the street sign from which the limo appears to emerge after JFK was hit in the throat. There is also a very obvious (in high definition) black rectangle that masks the enormous bloody wound at the back of Kennedy's head.
They could conceal the slowing of the limo by changing the background behind it to one that is moving more rapidly. We know the people in the background are not in their proper place timewise because many of them appear larger than the people in the foreground, which is an impossible effect to achieve with any normal camera lens.
Also, Mary Jean Moorman and her friend appear in the wrong time and place in the background of the film that we are allowed see. The film shows them on the grass, where they were seconds before. We know she is supposed to be standing on the pavement because her famous photo can absolutely pinpoint where she had to have been when she took it (The very pergola that Zapruder was standing on is in her photo and it helps to place her exactly where she said she was.)
They had only one weekend to whip up a fake version of the Zapruder film. It was a rush job and a crude forgery. High definition video gives away much of the fakery. But the multi-plane camera is what makes it look a single piece of 8mm film.

Allegedly, Oswald was supposed to be killed shortly after JFK was shot. There was a team of police waiting in the alley behind the movie theater where he presumably had been instructed to hide. When the film stopped and the lights came up, the cops entered the back of the auditorium. They expected him to run out one of the emergency exits into the alley, where the cops would gun him down.
But Oswald had already surmised that he was being set up to be the patsy. Once the cops entered the movie theater, he began shouting, "I am not resisting arrest!" and they had no choice but to take him alive. Apparently there was a great deal of panic in Dallas and elsewhere until they sent in Jack Ruby to shoot Oswald, ridiculously in the presence of eighty Dallas Police Officers.
