Actually, there is a constitutional requirement. Article II Section Three: He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.

As you can see, there is no set time it has to be done, just "from time to time" which has traditionally been annual. You are correct that it is usually done after the first year in office.

Why do people keep saying that this trip was planned in advance? Cruz himself has stated that his daughters asked him about leaving on Wednesday morning and they left hours later at 4pm. This wasn't a vacation that had tickets and hotel reservations that they couldn't cancel. It was a last-second trip because his wife and kids were bitching about the cold.

Stop defending this guy simply because he has an (R) after his name. You wouldn't do it if he was a Democrat and rightly so. So of course, Cruz wouldn't be expected to actually fix frozen pipes, that's such a bullshit strawman excuse. He could have worked with local officials, could have raised relief funds, could have acted as a go-between with State and Federal officials, he could have looked like he gave a damn.

But no, his wife and daughter were "FREEZING", so let's head to Cancun.

That's not what the experiment is about. They will spray about 3.4 pounds of calcium carbonate up around 12 miles. They will then use the data to make computer models of what real geoengineering would do, both pros and cons.

3.4 pounds of calcium carbonate sprayed into the sky 12 miles up is not going to block the sun so your set up (which sounds great, well done on putting it together) will act as it was designed...

I'm pretty sure by reading the rest of the pages on this that the letter did not come from JFK Jr. For one thing if it did, I don't think the FBI would be investigating it as a threat including taking fingerprint analysis and handwriting samples. Also, why would JFK Jr go to Worcester MAto mail this when he could have just dropped it off at his local post office in NYC?

Basically, some nutjob wrote this letter to Biden and signed JFK Jr.'s name to it for whatever reason.

Why are wind turbines in Greenland and Antarctica able to function in freezing cold and snowy conditions? Because unlike Texas, they use turbines that can handle it. Your state went cheap because they never expected this type of weather. It's like in Georgia when you see cars unable to drive in 2 inches of snow because who needs to buy snow tires in Georgia.

Even if 100% of your power came from gas, coal, and nuclear, you would have still had the problems because your state government and those people who run ERCOT screwed the pooch when it came to preparing for this type of event.

So what do you do when all the oil refineries close down as well because of the weather? The complaints have to go to Gov. Abbott and the Texas legislature for going cheap on the power grid infrastructure. That's what's causing the blackouts.

Texas has its own power grid called ERCOT that is independent of the rest of the country. So if you have any complaints or think that heads should roll, send all complaints to Gov. Abbott's office...

Not if the exhaust pipe is clear from obstructions or if people aren't stupid enough to do this in a closed garage. Some people die in their cars during blizzards because they don't clear snow away from the pipe. That's not the case here. I'm sure you've driven for hours in your car without dying...

Since Trump isn't the President, then the CJ does not have to preside over this trial. I'm not sure why people don't understand that as it's pretty plainly written...

Article I, Section 3, Clause 6:

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Since Trump is not currently the President of the United States, the CJ does not have to preside...
