Thanks for the link. I admire and respect Barenboim because he is a master craftsman. You hardly see him smile, but that's not because he is aloof - he isn't. There are few pianists out there who can "coax" the piano along. Barry Douglass is another one, as is Lisa de la Salle.

I look back and remember when all I had to turn to was classical music. It brought me through a lot of tough times, dealing with the pain. I frankly could not have survived without it.

Jimmy Page actually bought Aleister Crowley's mansion and lived there during his Led Zeppelin days, at least that's what it says in Hammer of the Gods: The Led Zeppelin Saga.

When I was a little boy, I didn't speak until I was five. I was a sickly child, but as far as speaking, I didn't need to. I listened a lot. Anyway, I would go into these depressive fugues because [even though it wasn't known at the time] I was autistic. My father found a way to break me out of these fugues by playing classical music. When I was four, he played Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet and that was the first time I had ever heard it - and I was hooked. I couldn't get enough of it. There are certain pieces that take me back, and the two I mentioned in the post are but two of them. The Adagio from Mozart's 23rd Piano Concerto is another, as is Debussy's Claire de Lune.

Until he divorced my mom when I was 8, we had this thing: he would come home from work every day, and after settling in and taking care of other family business, the two of us would lay on the floor and he had an old Hammond World Atlas he would open up. All the while in the background music was wafting from an old RCA Victrola phonograph - Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and some others - and while the music was playing, we would travel around the world and he would take me to faraway places on the map. We traveled the world together, and I remember him telling me that the music was God's way of speaking to us.

I know it sounds corny as hell, but I have never had quite such a wonderful time since then, although I have come close. The stupidest thing I ever did was not pursue the piano, but in a way I am kind of glad because I am such a perfectionist that it would have killed me. So, I decided to re-create the perfect acoustic environment with a speaker setup in my home. At least once a week I will immerse myself in the wonderful world of classical music, and travel back in time to when my dad was alive. No one can hurt me there. Although I am not terribly religious, that is my way of speaking to God. Maybe there is someone out there who understands that. My wife does, but not too many others, and that is okay.

Sorry for the long post.

Was just watching part of Tucker Carlson's interview with Mike Tyson. Occasionally I pay attention to stories about boxing as I used to be one. Simon & Garfunkel's song The Boxer is one of my personal favorites. Anyway, Tyson had this one quote I hadn't heard in a long time, but I find it as fascinating today as when I first heard it a while ago:

"When someone says something and I get offended, I think I'm somebody.... but when I think I'm nobody and someone says something, I'm not offended."

There is a lot of truth in that statement. A lot. It ties right into what I have believed for as long as I remember, that you can't control the other guy - you can only control how you react to the other guy.

I recommend the Berliner Philharmoniker app if you can get it on your TV or phone. I have it on the apps part of my Blu-Ray player, and occasionally will go on there and watch a concert or two. It goes all the way back to when Herbert von Karajan was conductor [he has since passed] but the other night, I watched Daniel Barenboim perform Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto and Mozart's 24th Piano Concerto. I know that not all of you are into classical music, but it is a sight to behold.

That's a shame, because hockey was the last true physical sport there for a while - speed, agility, grace, power, fighting - it had it all. Nowadays it is going to tun out to be another woke joke. Gordie is turning over in his grave.

Zelensky is laughing all the way to the bank. He probably can't believe Americans are that gullible and stupid to keep supporting him, but remember what PT Barnum said: "There's a sucker born every minute." We're the suckers.

Good to know. It used to be much worse, but with my wife's help I was able to bring it under control. I don't know if it would do any good to eradicate it now, but that's okay. I know where the monster in the closet is hiding and have kept it at bay, and besides, I have about 10-15 years left anyway.

Great song. Randy Meisner actually left the band because of that song. He was able to hit the high notes toward the end, but then found after a while he could not do it anymore.

Listening to some classic rock coming home. Aaaaah, the Eagles. Like Larry the Cable Guy says, they're the soundtrack of my life.

The wife, myself, two little dogs, 1.5 acres, food, water, ammo and a generator. Think we've got it just about covered, at least for a little while.

Your post reminds me of the fable of the grasshopper and the ants. If only people would listen, and you're right, most don't. Too bad for them.

There was a Twilight Zone episode where the earth was moving too close to the sun, and I remember one scene where a guy is offering a lot of money to catch a ride to the northern latitudes where conceivably it would be cooler, and another tells him "Your money isn't good anymore!" How prophetic.

I worked on reactors in the Navy. If done properly, it can provide hundreds of years of energy, and the waste is not as bad as people think if handled judiciously and carefully. The problem is the MSM amplified the accidents more than was necessary and didn't look at the overall picture regarding earth's energy resources.

I used to think of my autism as a curse. No point in that now, I've made it this far with the help of my second wife. Trust me, it was no picnic. I am near 100% certain that the vaccines I was administered had something to do with it, but what is even more revealing is that my mother had taken small doses of thalidomide to combat her cancer. I have had health screenings and such, but I don't get them very often because I do not trust the medical profession, and so far they haven't determined any other ill effects ither than stammering, stuttering, and autism, i.e. no physiological defects. That really doesn't matter - I'll die when I die. However, had I known things earlier in my life it may have made a difference, or at least alleviated some of the trauma.

It's all good now, though. I actually consider myself one of the lucky ones, and have put all the emotional, physical, mental and sexual abuse behind me. I could have gone after the Catholic Church for what they did, but all the money in the world won't erase the memories. That's up to me.

Thanks fren. I don't make enough money to worry about any of that stuff, and besides, my family members are dying off and I don't really have too many friends, but this is still good to know.

It is getting to a point where there is about as much speculation on this as who really shot JFK. Turning out to be one of the great mysteries of our time. If this message were true as stated, it would explain a lot, but who knows....

I keep hearing that the market is soon to tank and that the dollar is going to be taken off petro and become backed by precious metals again. This is supposed to happen after the first of the year, but I was wondering if anyone else had heard that, or anything along the lines of whether to keep fiat money or get rid of it because it would be worthless. Responses are welcome as always, as I am somewhat confused here.
