As much as we eschew public execution in other countries, I think the only thing that will wake people up in this country is to make our executions public for some sort of shock value. Every day I go into teach at our county high school, I see the damage done by the lockdowns. That covid bullshit set kids back years. I'm glad I'm not in a higher up position in life, because I would like to get a hold of people who pushed this and wring each and every one of their necks. It's going to take quite some time to recover from the social damage, if we can recover at all.
I'm on it, but I don't frequent it as much anymore. I think in the beginning there was a rush for people to get as many followers as they could, but since then it has leveled out a bit. I don't give a flip about followers, as my ego is not that fragile. There is some good info there, and of course, if you follow Trump you can get it hot off the presses, but I've decided the prudent thing to do is to evaluate what information is on that site and use it to draw conclusions just like on any other site. A boring approach, but at least I can sleep at night not worrying about shit.
Just watched The Hunt for Red October again for the umpteenth time. Gets better with age. Interesting to watch this considering all the Red October comms. The music is really good too, Basil Poledouris did a great job on the soundtrack.

To give you an idea, here is a lesson I had my math students undertake: they were given one billion dollars to spend, and I told them the daily limit was $10,000. They could spend it on anything they wanted as long as they came up with the exact price of each item, and then list it.
A few of the really bright students quickly figured out that at a rate of ten grand per day, it would take them close to 300 years to spend it all. 300 years. We haven't even been a country for 300 years. Now, a quadrillion? Do the math. At 10 grand per day, it would take one hundred billion years. Now multiply that by two. Two hundred billion years. Whether or not you believe the Big Bang occurred, the Universe is about 14.5 billion years old.
It has been estimated that on the Earth alone, the total monetary wealth, taking gold and silver into consideration, is worth 34 quadrillion dollars. If that were to be distributed to each person on this planet, with an estimated population of 8 billion, that would mean that each individual would receive $4,250,000.

I know the Vice network has been showing stuff about the story of Qanon, but I only see it in the program guide and I know Vice is about as far left as you can get.
One thing to consider, as if there aren't a billion things to consider: Red October refers to the Russian Revolution of 1917. Look at what is going on in Russia right now, with the situation in Ukraine. There are a hundred observations and corollary discussions to be made, but one thing is for sure - the 1917 October Revolution changed Russia forever when the old Czarist hierarchy was overthrown, and to them at that time Russia became a "New Order." If Russia succeeds [and I believe they are succeeding] and Ukraine is absorbed, the world order will change, and it is how the West responds that will be under the microscope.
Don't think you're going to get it all the first time you watch it. It's such a powerful movie that you could watch it over and over again and still learn something new. There are so many good scenes, but you will probably develop some favorites. I find myself quoting that movie all the time. The exchange between Ramius and Putin, the political officer, refers to the end of the world, and it is pretty telling when Putin reads the passage from Revelation - "...and the seventh angel poured forth his bowl into the air and a voice cried out 'it is done!'" Could be a harbinger of things to come.
