Similar situation here with my son, minus the football. The university of Kentucky is a complete joke. He won't test, therefore they sent a letter home saying the only way back on campus is to either test every week while home on Christmas break as punishment or get the vax, otherwise he's not allowed back on campus. Ordered his transcripts, can't wait to get him out of there.
I was yelled at at a cross country meet- outdoors of course. I argued loudly, then bought some popcorn and ate it for the next hour as slowly as possible while they monitored me from a short distance ready to pouch and kick me out. I can play their game too.
