- US gains $7-9 trillion within 4-5 years from this collapse.

The failure cascade is going to happen regardless of anything. It has already started and nothing can stop it or control the ensuing chaos.

The only chance Russia has is like pumping the place full of sleeping gas or something, but I'm not sure that's even possible.
Ukrainians have been killing Ukrainian civilians for 8 years running. Because the entire country is messed up along ethnic, language and culture lines and the only way the peace was ever kept for hundreds of years now was through Moscow's control.
It's like people forget there was a fucking CIVIL WAR happening in the region.
Ukraine was primed as a weapon against Russia, who were too incompetent and weak to deal with it in the late 90s early 2000s when they had the possibility to do so.
And so the only mitigation measure available was to strike first, but the damage will still be done to both Russia and the EU, as planned by the US of A.
As for why you don't hear it in the news -- the tools used by the US are never openly and honestly discussed by the media until they are all used up. Ukraine has many more millions of citizens available to kill themselves against Russia until it is used up.
What Putin really wants is for the West to back down first.
He threw a challenge to the collective West. If the West backs down, he is now much more closer to being the alpha guy in the world. African countries, the Middle East, Asia will all be looking at this and thinking that the current hegemon is really kind of getting old and decrepit and we don't have to listen to him anymore.
This is why the US is perfectly willing to destroy the EU to try and stop Putin. In fact, way more willing than Putin himself, who wants to save Europe if possible because they have always been the best markets for Russian goods. Russia will only lose long-term from the destruction of the EU while the US has trillions to gain.
