US accepted less than 12,000 refugees in 2020. It's not easy to get approved. Most immigrants are just illegal aliens and don't get a check from the federal government.
Free breakfasts and lunches in the schools. And free schooling. Among many other things.
Add free health care, free college education to that. This is why Congress needs to be defunded.

I feel your pain fren because I see it first hand every day as a health care provider. The refugees however don't seem to fair as well as the illegals. Families roll up in an Escalade or BMW, they are wearing expensive shoes and designer jeans, and even the kids have iPhones- and we are paying for all of it. Most do not work and the ones that do have a job are being paid under the table. They get housing, food stamps, Medicaid, and several other forms of assistance all while the average American is struggling to make ends meet. There kids get free dental care including expensive orthodontia work while American kids go without.
These people are gaming the system and they don't care. I have seen instructions that are handed out to these people the moment they get in on how to bleed our system for cash. They are actually coached on this by the various NGOs that are also getting paid big wads of cash to help these illegals navigate our system. It is sickening. I have seen with my own eyes how they use several different names to apply for the various programs they sign up for. Sometimes they forget which name they used when signing in and their information can't be found. Then they go through a various list of names until they get the right one. I am not a fan of a digital biometric system, but this is the one area where it would be useful. But that would be making an assumption that they want to stop this theft.
If we are stupid enough to be handing all this money out, why should they not take advantage of our stupidity. This is the magnet that draws them here. If they don't already have kids they will start popping them out in short order soon after they arrive which is a guarantee they won't get sent back. They know exactly what they are doing - the Great Replacement.

I always joke about renouncing citizenship since there's only negatives to it and tons of positives for not being a citizen. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if people already have done exactly this, and I bet it will just become more and more common as the punishment for being a citizen increases and the rewards for being here illegally skyrocket.
At one point I worked 45 hours per week and made just over $2300/month. These people sit on their asses and get that for NOTHING?!

As of several years ago, the Welfare trap (gap) is about $60k wide.
You have to EARN over $60k per year to actually start making more money than you can receive on welfare. And if you dare earn more than minimum wage, you actually lose money until your natural earnings climb above $60k. That's the fucking trap.
I do not support welfare, but if you are going to insist on giving people money don't also give them an incentive to never work their way off the program.
I'm not surprised that refugees are being welcomed to the USA and stuck right into a similar trap. Why else would they volunteer to come?

And remember that the $1,400/month is BEFORE MediCare grabs its $170+/month in "premiums"!
And remember, we pay into MediCare throughout our working years. Then when we need it, we have to continue paying for it! And buy additional coverage so that we don't end up in poverty due to medical bills. The insurance companies that provide this "insurance" get (I can't remember the exact figure) $12,000/yr from MediCare to "cover" us.

Anyone legally immigrating must be able to support themselves. If they are here legally, they can receive a 2 year work permit. They stay where they are assigned, so they can be tracked. By 2 years they either apply for citizenship or they are booted out.
If here illegally you get NOTHING and your children get nothing. No free education, no health care, no food stamps, no housing. If there are religious groups or others that want to house the and pay everything until they are caught and deported, let them do it, but not the government and not the U.S. citizen.
