I'm not a stock trading guy but I'm trying to understand the sitch: Gamestop was being targeted by the Brokers on WallStreet to drive their price down so they could get a deal on the stock. Then the anons on reddit got wind of their evil manipulations, came up with a way to screw the greedy manipulators by using the Short sell strategy against them. This could only be done in great numbers and only if they could all work in cahoots, which the internet now allows. If this strategy works, they will have out-manipulated the manipulators and can do this to WallStreet over and over, throwing off the control collars of the 1%. That is returning power to the people. Is that correct, Stockanons?

Why on earth would they "feel afraid" to do literally anything? Look at all they have gotten away with - illegal FISA warrants, perjury, blatant, sloppy out-in-the-open election fraud, extortion, bribery, etc. - with no consequences, except some of them "retired" from their jobs. The banks were bailed out by taxpayers for all of their illegal shenanigans and then went right back to the same old same old. And this time if the taxpayers don't bail them out, it will be the banks' depositors, except, of course, not the elite depositors - their assets will have been relocated before any "bail in" happens.
To my understanding naked shorting isnt illegal, but just should be, due to the massive risk. So far, hedge funds were happy as pigs in shit because they could manipulate that risk for huge gains. Now that they are on the losing end though, they are crying like little whiney bitches.

Walk street elites were not pushing the price low to get a deal , they took massive shorts on GameStop - which essentially means they bet it would crash.
When you take a short you’re exposed to unlimited risk - if it goes down ; you make money. If it goes up , you owe how much it’s gone up by. Meaning if they took out a million dollars of short positions at $5 - now at $350 - they owe $345 per position they took - or $345 for every 5 they shorted. Huge losses for hedge funds.

Margins are different again - Margins are when you invest x but a broker will provide 2x or 5x or 10x right up to 1000x sometimes. So you only put in a tiny fraction of your own money - then are lent the rest- BUT if you have 2x leverage , and it goes down 50% , you’re forced to sell as you have no equity. If you have 10x leverage , a 10% drop will wipe you out.

A while back, a hedge fund borrowed the stocks to sell at $10 tomorrow (naked short) they have to buy them back to give back what they borrowed. If the price tomorrow is less than $10 the hedge fund wins. If above $10 hedge fund loses. It’s currently $250. They will lose billions tomorrow.
Does that mean that tomorrow the price of GME will rise when their shorts expire? (because they have to buy them back, sending the high price even higher?)
That’s what the theory is. There is 140% of float out there. Meaning when they have to sell tomorrow, they have to find the 40% of stocks that don’t exist. They gambled hard, got exposed and now, the the SEC doesn’t save their asses, then we are golden

They actually should not sell. They should continue to hold onto that stock because the Ask is now 5k USD or so.
The Hedgefund already took their loss so investors should sell their position if possible to avoid a major loss because there's no reason why the stock should be $250/share and will definitely retreat back to where it should be sooner than later.
This....and also Melvin Capital shorted Elon Musk for awhile now. Guess what Elon Musk did? Tweeted about Game Stop. Shorters were basically trying to cash in on gamestop ending and everyone decided they had other plans.

They either allow people to freely coordinate trading together (just like the hedge funds do), or they clamp down on freedoms, which wakes people up to the fact that they now have neither the right to vote nor to trade without the outcome being rigged. Melvin Capital (the hedgefund in question) has been doing this for a long time. They shorted Gamestop HARD. A short is when you BORROW shares, and then immediately sell them. Like borrowing a car and then selling it. You still OWE the lender the shares, but the value of those shares can change over time. If the value goes down, then the shares they have to return to the lender are less valuable, so they made money. If the shares they borrowed and sold at $20 are now $400.. well they now owe the lender $400 per share, and they're fucked. This is about exercising our freedoms in the most rebellious manner possible to expose a corrupt system. You just finished fucking our country for 8 years and claim we have the right to vote? All major platforms have blocked users from buying these stocks thus only allowing you to sell. TD Ameritrade, Robinhood, Merrill Lynch (owned by Bank of America) etc.. So now the majority can only sell. Some are holding and watching the value of what they had tumble as a big f*ck you to the man. Others are dumping and trying to not get burned. So essentially the big guys were losing so they changed the rules so they can win. They still might lose but not as bad. Reddit users had a goal to drive this thing to $1000 a share. They can't now because only sells are being allowed on platforms. THIS WILL RED PILL MILLIONS MORE PEOPLE! THEY CAN'T STOP WHAT IS COMING!

Yup. Last night I placed an order for pretrading hours. When I checked at 7am price was already over my limit. When I tried to change the price and resubmit the order, I got a msg saying that stock was not avail for extended hours trading. So I waited until 8:30 but now there is a block and you cant place ANY order for GME.
I did manage to snag some NOK just before that also got blocked.
