The power is out; the power grid is struggling to keep up with demand. People are freezing in their homes. Literally dying. And for some reason people started getting $5,000 bills from the power company.
Yet the banks are fine, and wasting electricity while others are dying in their homes.
The power went out where I live for weeks during a snowstorm; I had nothing to eat but saltine crackers for three days. I feel for this guy.
Damn right, people are calling this guy an idiot for being so mad, but they aren't there on the ground.
At the same time it is a complicated situation. You can't just let the citizens break into the buildings and take them over like Portland. My question is: Where is the Military?
So we have the resources to turn DC into a temporary Mil station for months just for Congress, but we can't get resources to our people who just went through a disaster?
I am not bashing the military, they take orders not make them.
The Military has been helping, but they should be allowed to pull out all resources needed to protect our fellow citizens IMO.
I want to see the mayor of Austin brought up on charges because he failed to implement energy conservation measures on commercial properties not involved in essential services.
Remember how quickly they shut down non-essential businesses and enacted draconian measures for a virus with a 99.98% survival rate? Freezing to death has a 0% survival rate, yet no proactive actions were taken.
This makes sense in austin since hurricanes don't usually stay very strong once they hit land and is the only thing that tends to knock out power for more than a day. Sorry to inject reality into your little moment of joy at others misfortune.
Someone correct my thinking if you think I'm out of line but....
I live in Louisiana. For over a week I knew snow and ice were coming. Me and my husband made plans and backup plans. We made sure we had food, water, and a way to warm ourselves if we couldn't depend on water and electricity. We had backup plans to backup plans.
Why didn't these people in TX make those same plans? Why is screaming at a big Corp worth your time when you had plenty of time to prepare.
It's your responsibility to take care of your family when weather like this is on its way. Not the government or big corporations. Maybe this fella did make those plans like we did but this situation is much worse? I'm not sure but I'm dumb founded by the reaction of people who didn't prepare or made very little preparation.
I'm a weather pepper, so I totally get what you are saying.
I've noticed younger adults are not weather aware.
2.Maybe because its never happened like this, they made the assumption it was overhyped and blew it off if they did hear it was coming.
Maybe waiting on payday, and that came too late.
Or expected someone else to bail them out once it happened.
I'm from Texas. Have family and friends there. Those in my age bracket were ready. The young parents were not. But just like Texas always does, people who prepped are not only cooking extra food on their Coleman, but delivering in case any stranger in need doesn't want to get out. No bigger hearts than in Texas. I miss living there if only for the people and great food.
We prep atleast once a year for hurricane weather so we are pretty use to preparing for days without electricity. But this was another beast. Freezing temps are no laughing matter when you can't make a fire or get warm. That should be your main priority for your family.
The level of stupidity even in my own age group (30s) is astounding. A good friend of mine was on Facebook trying to figure out why Walmart had canceled her grocery order yesterday. Yesterday in our area was being hit by freezing rain. Day before we saw 5 inches of snow. And she was baffled that she couldn't get her groceries. This is an area that never sees this type of weather. We don't have salt trucks or snow plows. Do people live in a make believe world and just don't use their sense? The roads are not drivable and she thinks her groceries should be ready to pick up? Unbelievable.
I lived in south Texas for 25 years and most don't have fireplaces for alternate heat? Why would you spend money on a fireplace when you would just have to run your ac at the same time to use it in most cases? My kids are in your age group, and they really don't pay attention. I don't know if it's bc they know I am and will warn them, or I will have all the preps so they don't worry about it, or I just did such a fine damn job being a helicopter mom, taking care of their every little need growing up that my failures as a parent glare me in the face now.
Kinda regretting our gas fireplace currently. Moving forward we will probably convert it. We definitely learned alot from this experience and we didn't even have it THAT bad.
My parents and my husbands parents are much like you. We do rely on them for back up but still make preps because we don't want to be a burde. Thank God for them when we do need them.
Sorry to burst your bubble but yes. My area was hit by two hurricanes this past fall. We were out of electricity for 4 days straight and i had many family members who went without electricity for up to 2 weeks.
Ice much like high winds from hurricanes will damage power lines. My area isn't made for sub temps and I don't think TX is either. What did you expect? Everything to be ok?
Hopefully they move in the NG to assist and take them out of DC.
Yeah he's making it about JPM. I personally wouldn't blame a company for not shutting of their power.
But I think the main point is that the city (which is pretty vacant ATM) has power, heat, water, etc. while there are people literally freezing to death a short distance away. Look up the vids of people standing in miles long lines waiting to buy necessities (water, food, fuel).
I can’t speak to the specific situation in Austin but a lot of these buildings have their own backup generation(for situations like this).
Diesel generators, can’t just have hospitals etc blacking out.
After that, critical infrastructure is always prioritized to be powered first, who decided banks are critical infrastructure? That’s an issue to take up with your local government.
This was an empty office building and parking garage. If they have a generator, it would be for emergency power only for their servers and limited emergency lighting. Not what we saw. They obviously were on city power and didn’t bother to turn off their lights.
I could only watch a couple of minutes of it as the guy seemed to be making no sense. So he's trying to drum up anger to JP Morgan because the lights in the parking garage are on while others are without power? Seems misguided. I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons why people might not be happy with JP Morgan.
I watched and I get it, I understand. I have moments where enough is enough and you need to just let it ALL OUT....God bless him and I relate to his justified anger of these self righteous crooked people who think they’re invincible!
This guy is having a temper tantrum. Yes I know things suck. Yes I even have friends there without electricity. I remember an ice storm here that left many people without power and trees blocking the roads. Some didn't have power back for 6 months because it pulled main transmisson lines down.
I saw on the news this is the first time in recorded history every county in Texas has been under a winter storm warning. How do you plan ahead for something you've never expierenced? No freaking generator after getting his crap together for 10 years? Same boat. He needs to be thinking proactively.
Just a thought, but the bank would be sued if an individual thinking the ATM was working, went up in the dark (hey, there are some who wouldn't be thinking about the cause and effect), and someone attacked them in the darkness. I believe lights in a bank are left on so that law enforcement can see inside easily.
Someone jokingly indicated a backup generator. That would be a real possibility to keep bank customers, like this angry fellow, from being attacked in the dark.
There I go, thinking like a lawyer again. Maybe the bank shouldn't have thought about their level of liability. But they should have thought about the safety of their customers. I think they did.
doubtfull. generators that size would need plenty of ventilation, and you would here them running in the quiet of the night. like in this video. but you are welcome to keep reaching.
I think people are lacking context.

Giddy “price sharing” used to funnel hedge fund mistakes? Reports of $9 a kwh.

You have the right to be angry at bullshit like this
Damn right, people are calling this guy an idiot for being so mad, but they aren't there on the ground.

"I spent the last ten years getting my shit together"...evidently that didn't include buying a generator.
ROFL
This makes sense in austin since hurricanes don't usually stay very strong once they hit land and is the only thing that tends to knock out power for more than a day. Sorry to inject reality into your little moment of joy at others misfortune.
It has nothing to do with "joy at others misfortune". It has everything to do with being prepared and being self sufficient.
Or more than chips and salsa. But he is right about how ridiculous it is for these empty businesses to still be wasting all this electricity.
Someone correct my thinking if you think I'm out of line but....

Oh so you fully expected to have rolling black outs for 4 days?
Sorry to burst your bubble but yes. My area was hit by two hurricanes this past fall. We were out of electricity for 4 days straight and i had many family members who went without electricity for up to 2 weeks.

For some reason my last post was removed... I'll re-title it this time with the YT title.
Streetlights are on so likely no generators in use. If they are using generators, that only permits more anger for the people who live nearby
9 bucks a kwh? Electeic.companynis loving it.
I would think they have generators
FUCKING CHIPS AND QUESO
Where is Jeb! when you need him?!
Donde Beto?
¿Dónde está el guac?
"MAYRIO?!" ? Sorry...I had to haha
What am I watching? I am confused?
Is the point that jp Morgan has power and others don't?
Yeah he's making it about JPM. I personally wouldn't blame a company for not shutting of their power.

Yeahs these warm businesses are really good neighbors as businesses. NOT
I can’t speak to the specific situation in Austin but a lot of these buildings have their own backup generation(for situations like this).

I just picked up 40oz today (all I could afford)
Get it while you can!
WWG1WGA
They might have a generator. Need facts before reaction
Streetlights are on so likely no generators in use.
if they are in the immediate vicinity of the building then possibly tied to the buildings breakers? im no electrician though
I could only watch a couple of minutes of it as the guy seemed to be making no sense. BREAKING POINT INTENSIFIES
Sounds really rough out there, and I don’t fully understand the situation probably, but why not just go somewhere else for a while?
What's this about? Why is he pissed?
About certain buildings with power? They likely have generators.
What am i missing
Pipes in Austin probably aren't well insulated. Water running to prevent frozen, burst pipes?
They cut the water off so that trick doesn't work.
I watched and I get it, I understand. I have moments where enough is enough and you need to just let it ALL OUT....God bless him and I relate to his justified anger of these self righteous crooked people who think they’re invincible!

What's his problem? I see the lights on all over town. The electricity is obviously on. Why is he even out there?
Just a thought, but the bank would be sued if an individual thinking the ATM was working, went up in the dark (hey, there are some who wouldn't be thinking about the cause and effect), and someone attacked them in the darkness. The expression, 'tilting at windmills' comes to mind when watching that idiot.
dont hear any big diesel engines running in the back ground
likely in the basement of these buildings or somwhere on top?
doubtfull. generators that size would need plenty of ventilation, and you would here them running in the quiet of the night. like in this video. but you are welcome to keep reaching.
hey im just throwing out possibilities is all
anything IS possible, but it still looks bad on chase
