Frens, here's your Sunday evening (evening in Egypt, anyway) Ever Given update: It's 7:30 pm, local time, and the convoys are leaving the Great Bitter Lake. Who's left? Big EG, the Chinese heavy load carrier, XIANG RUI KOU - it's reported that this vessel is carrying a dredger and plans to offload it somewhere to dredge something (will keep tabs, but my guess is the section of the canal at the extreme southern edge of the lake where two other vessels briefly ran aground last week).
Aaannnnd.....as of 4 hours ago, the mystery cargo ship satellite ping is back! Right alongside EG, where it was spotted yesterday. What is it, what is it doing there? I don't know - but it's definitely something to watch!
The UHL FAME, with its big cranes, anchored for a while in the lake about 2.5 nm away from EG. It got our attention, but never got very close to EG for any length of time, and is now transiting north in the canal, so no lifting maneuvers out of that one.
At the moment, there are no tugs in the lake, but there are two of them (SALAM 9 and SALAM 6) headed that way from the south.
Earlier today a Cargolux plane, which would have left in the dead of night, was making its way overhead me from Luxembourg, seat of the EU, to Chicago. I know Luxembourg does export some metals, minerals and chemicals, but generally to its surrounding neighbours, chiefly of course the Netherlands. Interesting.
Is Barry in Chicago? They got a hot dog shortage there...
??
IDK, but they certainly wouldn't be short of anything Luxembourg had to offer. Well, openly offer at least.
Ooh! Burn!
So Big Mike stayed home? No hot dog shortage there.
Thanks for the updates!
My pleasure! :)
Tip of the hat for the update.
ThanQ, fren!
Any other non-boatie metric fans who keep thinking nm is nanometres instead of nautical miles?
Context is everything! :)
Newton meters!
That would be capital N and often with a dot between, like this: N⋅m.
Non-Maga?
That's just communism.

ThankQ for the kind words, fren. Will do!
According to the Suez Canal Authority, one of their guides was aboard, yet they’re trying to pin the blame on the Captain implying he must have changed the orders given by the guide, resulting in the crash. Smells dodgy to me.
My first sticky! ThankQ, mods!
9:30 pm local time...update: SALAM 9 and SALAM 6 have both turned tail at the southern tip of the lake and headed back south. EG, China XRK and mystery ship are all by their lonesomes.
Here's more info about the dredger aboard the China XRK vessel....it's supposed to be the first of two huge dredger ships, contracted by the Canal Authority back in 2017 and will be part of the Canal Authority's fleet. This dredger ship, called MOHAB MAMISH will be berthed in the Great Bitter Lake full-time. What I find most interesting about all this is the timing of its arrival - it set sail from the Netherlands just 4 days after Big EG ran aground. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. But I bet the EG situation might have turned out very differently if this dredger was already on the scene to deal with it.

Awesome! First date fagging, then plane fagging, now boat fagging. What’s next? Space fagging?
I hope soooooo
Noticed that too.
Great sleuthing! Thanks for keeping us updated fren!
Thanks for sharing your information mate... much appreciated...! ?

and?????? no US CARRIER and no Destroyers,,,,,,,
Can u hey eyes on the lake and see what ship is next to EG?
I'm watching, and I've noticed that this ship that I've been referring to "mystery cargo ship" has separated a bit from EG (it was previously butted right up against her, which made me consider the possibility of a second EG beacon, but I can't think why that would exist) but now that it has separated a bit from EG, it makes me believe that it is indeed a second ship, one that shows up on vesselfinder.com (but not on marinetraffic.com - weird!) I'm scouring every open source resource I can think of, but I'm just an amateur boatfag, so anyone with more insight, I'm all kinds of interested! If I discover what ship that is, I'll make a new post with the update. UPDATE: After 2 hours of watching this beacon sitting next to EG (about .1 nm away) it just vanished. Poof. I'll keep watching, since it has done this before.

The forecasting and "decoding" related to the EG has been a never-ending source of disinfo. and inaccuracies.
