It's funny how the idea of conspiracy has somehow become so unthinkable recently. People conspire all the time. The media conspires when they come up with their shitty headlines. Government conspires when they come up with laws. Big tech conspires when they come up with their shitty policies. I don't even want to get into the hypocrisy of people railing against "conspiracy theorists" when the very same people were promoting one 4 years ago. At this point, pointing out their hypocrisy means nothing, they know and they don't care. Thinking about what might be the ulterior motives of <insert organization> should be considered critical thinking, not conspiracy theorizing. It's normal to question what people in position of power tell you. It's not normal to just nod your head and accept it, especially when those people do not have a good track record of caring about your interests.

Theory = a working hypothesis, based on evidence.
Conspiracy Theory = a working hypothesis, based on evidence, to understand why 2 or more people might be lying about certain important events.
Every murder trial, where 2 or more people were involved, is a conspiracy theory.

Every stock market maniuplation investigation, where 2 or more people were involved, is a conspiracy theory.

Nobody conspires more than politicians.
2 or more cops lie about what really happened in a shooting or false arrest = conspiracy, and anyone who wants to speculate as to the fact that they might be lying are free to do so.
That goes for all situations of all types of conspiracies.
The biggest conspiracy is how Big Media, Big Government, Big Pharma, Big Business, and Big Education all conspire to hide the truth of their vast conspiracies. -- by falsely claiming that such things could never happen, and anyone investigating them is somehow mentally unstable. They are the ones who are mentally unstable, so of course they don't want anyone looking into their many conspiracies.
Conspiracy is illegal. Funny thing for something that doesn't exist.
I think we could even say that it's normal to accept what people in authority tell us, but only after we fact check them. I believe even the Bible says to accept leadership that way.
The problem is that we have the media playing the role of activists and opposition for certain ideas and politicians. They don't just report what's going on, they feel the need to give us an earful of what they think along with it. We don't feel the connection to our leaders because they are so far removed from our lives. It should only be normal to accept what someone tells you when you have a connection of trust them and they have proven it to you. In today's world, our leaders and experts are pixels on a screen. We have people on a mic in front of a camera telling us what is going on, rather than us looking outside for ourselves. Wrongthink-detectors AKA "fact checkers" rush in to tell us what to think. It all goes against the human experience. It's so shady, and their actions and suspicious behavior ring alarm bells. It's a system designed to squash dissent and sensible dialogue.

There has been so much abuse by various employees of government against the people, that the employees of government have given up what otherwise might be considered the "benefit of the doubt."
Today, they are suspect and presumed guilty (like they unlawfully presume of us), unless they prove themselves innocent.
They are not "authorities" simply because they have a job in government. That is a factual falsehood.

You're just missing my point, I think, which is that we serve good leaders by keeping them in check. We still do as we're directed/led by actual leaders in government, but only when we're sure they're right.
I'm talking about the opposite of blindness here.

Philosophically, I believe TPTB are trying to remove the concept of the “possibility of evil” and the ability of people to think freely in order to do as they will with them.
I’ve heard the term conspiracy theorist was “created” by the cia in the jfk days as a way to distract people away from their distrust of government. I see it as a red flag when a poster brings up the term to dissuade discussion and free thought there in. Quite a telling thing as you have said so well. Props for seeing the trick for what it is.

I have a feeling, the use of the very term "conspiracy theory" exploded just recently. Just ~10 years ago it was an obscure term rarely heard and which just few understood, but suddenly MSM started promoting it and framing it correspondingly. Preparing for what was about to come?
If I recall correctly, it started after 9/11. (Those who questioned the "official" narrative had to be discredited and shamed.)
