what if we started taking the opposite strategy - just keep them talking for like an hour just ask questions and grill them for as long as theyll stand it. give as little info as you can just turn the tables and put them on the hot seat. hell 8 committed/retired patriots could keep a pair of knockers bust for an entire 8 hour shift if they could each soak up an hour... that could delay and derail thw whole thing
Put a no trespassing sign on your property that has the actual city ordinance written on it. That’s all you have to do.

Best thing I can think of is don't answer the door, just like you don't answer your phone when caller UNKNOWN appears.

Make sure you keep the door locked and never ever answer the door. Preferably with a camera system that will catch anything if they pull a shady one. When I was a teenager I had a cop walk right in my front door without even knocking. He claimed there was a 911 call and hangup when my dad started questioning him. Got the phone records and there was no call so we really don't know why the hell he was there. They will pull shady shit if they think they can get away with it.
I dont think a no trespassing or no solicitors sign will make any difference. Ive never seen either one stop a cop before. Yes you can trespass them but that won't help in the moment. If they have to boot your door in to talk they may think twice about that. With the way things are going though that may not even stop them.

Get a recording of very large dogs growling and barking and tell them you can't find the leashes through the closed door. Best option is don't answer the door. I hope it's just a matter of time before some criminals use the opportunity as a ruse to gain entry for home invasion robberies. That would definitely put a hamper on things. In fact, I heard that there are groups already doing this. Wink wink.
