There is starting to be an inherent distrust for school boards, that there’s some notion that we are out to indoctrinate children or to undermine parents or things like that, when we are on the same team
Here's an idea, maybe stop trying to indoctrinate children and undermine parents. Maybe the parents would respond better.
Excellent to see parents getting vocal!
Notice the AP article portrays the complaining school board members as victims, angry parents as hostile extremists, and again pushes the “masks work” narrative.
The corporate media is the biggest enemy of our society.
In Texas too— I was elected and served in the mid eighties— there was no salary or any compensation— meetings and workshops— learned a lot about the education system in Texas
Good! We need these pieces of s**t to quit. Each and every community should have a clause to recall the school board members that are voting unilaterally, not by the will of the people.
They are elected in and have managed to slither their way in because, people just assumed they were good at teaching kids did not even think to consider that they were only applying for the job to, radicalize and indoctrinate the children. No more assumptions, parents have been betrayed by this, just like most things with the marxist agenda. WE see you now, we do NOT accept your teaching this BS to our children and we do not accept you muzzling our children!
They are elected in the city I live in for the public schools. I don't know if they are paid though, or how much. Nevertheless, this is very good news! I'm so glad to see parents fighting back and standing up for their kids!
In my area, school board members are voted on, just like any other government official.
They are elected in Michigan. It is often a stepping stone political office. They dont care about the children only their careers.
In NJ they are elected.
Good! They should be afraid to walk the streets

Lol. Came here to say this.
That and most people know so little about the people running that they can't really make an informed decision on who is best for the job.
Some are volunteers and others are elected so it varies.

School board members in Virginia are elected

In Ohio too.

Elected and paid here.
Well many ARE elected. But now we need GOOD people to replace them.
Unelected? No, they are 100% elected and you should run for those seats.
They are completely elected where I am.
Do not where they are unelected.
Unpaid? DeSantis is withholding salaries of school board members in some counties.
Elected here and on the take. We believe these school board members locally are getting kickbacks.

the picture they put on there is supposed to depict people that oppose masks as hillbillies.
In Florida school board members are paid around $35k/year. May want to edit your headline...
