Lately, I've had the urge to ask random mask-wearers why they are wearing the mask. BTW, I have no problem walking up to total strangers and starting a conversation, which is probably why I have this urge.
I assume it is either because they think it protects them from Covid, think it protects others if they have Covid, or they want to virtue signal.
But I'm torn as to whether or not starting a random convo with a stranger would lead to the person getting irrate or melting down, and if that would be helpful or harmful.
What do you guys think?
You get really funny answers if you ask people who are wearing a mask on their chin or the lower half of their face only wtf they're doing. Either it works and they're protecting people or it doesn't work and you don't need to wear it but wtf are these people doing wearing them halfway? You get some great answers.
I love watching the maskers who move the mask down while talking, and some do that when they have to sneeze as well.
Covid-beards.
I can tell you from experience that every single time I have tried to be rational with a mask wearing individual, it has not gone well. I've tried many different approaches. They just don't want to hear it. Not trying to discourage you, hope you have better luck than I have. I've even mentioned the doctor who put 5 masks on, sealed them around his mouth and breathed on his glasses and fogged them up. (maybe you've seen it) They just refuse to accept it. Best of luck......
I am glad to say I've had a few who took theirs off and were happy to agree with me. Earlier when few had the courage to go without I loudly told them how lovely it was to see their smile. The rest just looked sheepish, they think its the law.
Do you really care why strangers are wearing masks? If they leave me alone I don't really care.
I leave them alone because I have no idea if they have other issues - immunocompromised from chemo, already sick with something else, etc. I don't stand for others getting in my business, so I respect their behavior too.
I have said in passing to people wearing masks “enjoy your hypoxia” or “enjoy your bacterial pneumonia.” Of course, I say it in the most pleasant, cheerful way possible. I’ve only gotten wide-eyed stares.
Walgreens this weekend had a line of mostly masks and I said it loud enough for all to hear as I finished checking out. This was after the masked clerk said “ have a nice day” or some shit like that. This is Florida. NO mask mandate. So many fukkin masks.
Because this

It's a cult thing.
After so much repeated abuse they move from shock to acceptance. It eventually becomes their new normal. You trying to take it away from them w/ facts is a personal attack.
I have got no where with them. Do u know why ? Because if you're under hypnosis you CANNOT use logic and reason.
Good Luck on your experiment. Carry a weapon and stay sharp. You are essentially sticking a screwdriver into a machine with exposed hot wiring / circuitry everywhere. You're bound to get some sparks with the slightest wrong move ( words ).
Most say its to protect others. When asked from what, they squirm and it becomes clear they are just virtue signaling because they don't want disapproval. None really know. If you try to tell them about the dangers they say "That's your opinion" Telling them its actual facts confuses most, they don't know the difference. Low IQ.
Give them any one of these looks
😂😁🤣😜😒😋🙄😏😄😑😐🤨🤪😝🤔🤭😎💩🤡
I’ve had the same inclination believe it or not. But now, I just shake my head and move on and avoid those people at all costs because they’re stupid. P.S. Especially when they’re OUTSIDE
Yes: seen elderly joggers and cyclists with masks on, looking like they are about to expire Beyond absurd.
Yes please do
When in doubt, communicate.
If you are going to talk to a masked person, you might want to arm yourself with a Magpie
Be very cautious when interrogating the mentally ill
Could be a dangerous game challenging people's sense of reality...
You’re welcome to ask me.
I wear it because I like being anonymous, and I have an excuse to wear masks in a bank. I can wear it in my car and not be ID’d by some douchebag road-rager. I can see a coworker in a supermarket and not have to fake smile or hopefully even be recognized.
I’m an anon who loves anonymity, and if I can walk around for the rest of my life without Amazon being able to track me through fucking doorbell cameras as easily as an unmasked person, then I’m going to do that. Security is about layers, and choosing not to take advantage of it just because I look like a COVID scardey is too close to virtue-signaling for my comfort.
Sounds like something a fugly person would say. Ugly people love the masks.
That’s certainly a possibility.
My town had an ordinance that prevented the wearing of masks in public until the day they mandated wearing masks in public (in fact, they probably didn't even remove the ordinance and just ran them concurrently). Being anonymous by wearing a mask is a freedom that the surveillance state had taken, and now we have it back. Recapturing any lost freedom is at least a silver lining.
Masks are for perverts and slaves. You sound like the pervert variety.
Masks are for people who want to stay anonymous. Literally the simplest piece of security technology in existence, has been for all of human history.
Unless you are also changing up your habits daily and have been wearing a mask continually for the past 3 years theyve already got your face and habits. Now stop being a pussy. Jk but seriously stop.
You are just a creepy voyeur wanting anonymity as you stand in the middle of a bank checking out the teller. Be a fucking man not a dingy little pervert. It’s disgusting.
What an unnecessarily aggressive response that adds literally nothing to the discourse.
Says the dude advocating for fucking masks. Just so he can feel anonymous in a fucking bank like the little weasal coward he is.
Masks are EVIL. And that makes YOU evil.
I am not going to waste my time explaining the virtue of anonymity to a person belonging to a group of people who label themselves “anons.” You can choose to wear one or not. I do not care.
