I cannot go 36 hours without food, I will not be able to think well enough to do my job. But I will do 24 hours no food and 36 hours no internet outside of what I have to do for work. So I am with you, kinda!
You feel like you can't think because your blood sugar is getting low. This stops as soon as your body flips over to ketosis (and apparently it has to 'flip' almost like a switch, the body is very bad at burning sugar and fat at the same time unfortunately.) Your brain cells can eat ketones just fine and you'll quickly feel MORE clearheaded / less brain fog once you get over the initial hump.
I only do intermittent fasting and low carb (never done a full multil-day fast) and even then I notice this effect on my thinking very clearly.
I really, spiritually need the internet part if this. Thanks for the inspiration.
I am dropping offline at midnight for 24 hours.
(So tomorrow lots of drama and happenings will occur, probably!)
Check out videos by Dr. Berg or Thomas Delauer (sp?) if you're interested in sharing fasting info with her. Intermittent fasting is a great place to start!
At my Healthiest I was doing a fast (water/coffee/tea) 3days per week. Longest I’ve gone is 21 days. It’s incredibly healthy but sometimes I have the willpower and sometimes I don’t. Look up videos by Dr Fung for the science behind fasting.
Matthew 6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
The Lord's Prayer
5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him
It appears to me OP is just giving some advice or a friendly reminder for those that may not have considered fasting. I don't think they're trying to boast, especially when none of us likely know who he is in person.
Remember to drink plenty of water, and if you put a little salt in it you'll make life much easier for yourself during the fast. Look up a recipe called "snake juice" if you want instructions.
I'd do more than nine days but other people always push me to stop.
I've heard of some longer ones but 9 days is wild! I heard this can also help kill cancer and stuff because it starves the cells. No clue. I find it fascinating
That's why I did it, really. I wish I could find some more solid evidence of how long you need to kill off cancer.
I haven't done it for a while but I've planned to do it at least once a year or so.
It's not as hard as you'd think. Once ketosis starts up you're basically fine.
I think people doing it for 1-2 days are the ones that have it rough. During that period of time your body still expects you to eat and yes, you will feel hungry.
I save articles slowly if it looks like good potential anti cancer info. There are so many different types that I suspect different things work for different ones and probably different lengths
Can't fast for that long. I'm hypoglycemic. If I don't eat, I get migraines and pass out. I suffer from migraines naturally, due to occipital neuralgia, so I don't try to make it worse. The most I have been able to fast for is 18 hrs before the shakes and migraine starts.
Check out the Snake Diet on Youtube; Cole has some strong words that may offend, but he cares, so toughen up! Long fasts are easier if you are getting some sodium and potassium in your water, which keeps the cells making energy.
IF you have not fasted before, this could be dangerous. Your body needs to acclimate to fasting by doing a day fast, then maybe a 24 hour fast working your way up. Good luck!
My friend called me last night with more pep in his character than I ever remember. He was on day 7 of a fast. It does wonders by clearing out the system. It also has more time to heal other parts of the body. Not just deal with passing too much food through our bodies.
Hi, I wanted to let anyone know who is saying "I can't fast, I can't go that long without food!" Fasting isn't abstaining from food for 24, 36, or 48 hours it isn't that at all. In the Coptic Orthodox Church we fast 210 days out of the year. Wednesday and Friday we eat vegan, depending on what your priest tells you you will abstain from food from 12 midnight to 12, 3, 5, or 6pm (no food no water) it varies based on your spirituality as a person hence why it's based on what your priest tells you as he knows you as a person and your struggles and strengths. We fast from 12 midnight to when Communion is and we can attend Liturgy any day of the week that is no food no water. We have different seasons of the fast and depending on the season it is either vegan or vegan + fish. Outside of that we also abstain from sexual relations if you are married.
The point of fasting for us is during this time we are to spend it with God in prayer and reading the Scripture. Fasting is a means of brining your body into submission under your soul/spirit because the body is weak and flesh.
Ive only ever gone like 24 hours - I want to try 72 hours after this baby is born (but then I gotta feed the kid my milk lol...) so Ill be with you guys in what? A year or longer? 🙏🏻
Autophagy is a wonderful thing.
I cannot go 36 hours without food, I will not be able to think well enough to do my job. But I will do 24 hours no food and 36 hours no internet outside of what I have to do for work. So I am with you, kinda!
I start by skipping dinner. (meaning I do eat lunch the first day)
That night won't be a big deal.
Second day you will feel hungry (if it's your first time), and that night may be rough.
Stick with it and you'll wake up feeling fine on day 3. You're now in ketosis. Your body stopped waiting for food and is eating your fat stores.
I consider this the actual start of a fast.
Last time I did it people at work kept accusing me of cheating because I was too energetic. Well, I do have energy.. My body is burning fat!
You'll probably be more low energy than a normal day, but it's not a big deal.
I wouldn't do anything too strenuous, but some people swear by working out during fasts.
Good to know!
A good what for your what now? Your metabolism isn't a computer.
Incorrect. It's been proven in mice, to repair mitochondria. Think of it like a defrag. A repair and reset.
Your entire body is a biological chemical factory.

One very healthy looking 70 year old Doctor said he does it once a week. A 24 hour fast. Learn more about your body by changing the routine.

That is so commendable! I was just talking about fasting with my sister. Good luck, and please keep us posted after the fast.

ThanQ!
Why 11:11?
Spiritually 11:11 is a perfect place in time.
Ok

And starves the parasites (serpents)
This was why I started fasting recently. After reading “The Parasite Pill” someone posted here. Starve them if sugars and get the the eff out

I am in bro. It been a while I think my spirit is staring for the word.
Salt. Potassium salt (no salt) and vitamin b are helpful for long fasts.
Bit if its a total fast for spiritual goals then can skip.
Everyone should do some fasting. And it gets much easier by day 2. Cravings go away.
Longest I've done so far is nine days.
Remember to drink plenty of water, and if you put a little salt in it you'll make life much easier for yourself during the fast. Look up a recipe called "snake juice" if you want instructions.

This method should just starve it. I guess we just need to know how long it can live before starving to death.

Nice to see another Orthodox here! I added to the post with a break down of how us Copts fast.
3 days is retarded. That means you eat a lot of shit usually, if you can fast for that long.
You should give it a go, it gets easier past a certain point.
I had the shits a coupla days ago so I didn't eat all day.
Haha good start I guess. Would you consider doing a longer intentional fast?
