The private school that we enrolled our son in, after the public schools wouldn't open for 20-21 SY, teaches the kids cursive. Funny, I was so mad when the public schools wouldn't open that year...now I realize they did us a huge favor. My son is NEVER going back to public school. He's in an America loving, conservative Christian school where he is learning piano, cursive, playing soccer and learning more about Jesus on top of it all. What more could I ask for?
Well I don't know where you live, but I would recommend searching for private schools in your area, and calling each one to see what their tuition is. We were very fortunate that we could afford this one, but basically I saw a billboard that advertised this private Christian school that had in person classes 5 days per week. I found out later from the pastor of the church that they were actually set to take down that billboard about a week before I saw it, but because the ad company had nobody else renting it for that time, they just left up the school's ad. That plus lots of other circumstances showed me that this was meant to be, and absolutely God's will. We have since joined the church there, my son and I were baptized there this summer, and life has been as normal as possible for my son. No masks or virtual "learning" for him. I wish you all the best!
Same for my grandchildren. Christian school, strong morals and scripture. Their school is a bit pricey so we (grandparents) are helping with tuition. Money well spent. We can forego a vacation or two gladly, knowing that they're learning Christian truth and values. It's also very good academically.
How wonderful of you - and what a good point you bring up, that some people do spend the equivalent of a year's tuition on vacation so often, and that money is definitely better spent on a Christian education. God bless you for being such good grandparents - my daughter is fortunate enough to have help from my granddaughter's other grandparents in the same way. (My daughter is 30, my son is 11 and my granddaughter is 8). She's a single mom and was worried about affording the tuition and rent/bills. I bought all her uniforms, odds and ends, and her other grandparents help out with tuition. Sticking together as a family helps tremendously.
Exactly! The argument is always, "They can read it online and in textbooks." BUT as with anything transcribed, it's just a matter of time before the transcribers start changing words (like how the dictionary definitions have been changing.)
I'm a huge fan of cursive. Went to Catholic school, and penmanship was an actual subject. I could write neatly and legibly by the end of third grade. As an adult who returned to school after my children were raised and educated, I found that writing out the important things made my brain retain the info far better than just "studying". My mom had beautiful handwriting her entire life. Every word was legible.
Very interesting! No wonder they don't teach cursive anymore. Too many neuropathways are developed. Sheep don't need that, can't have everyone doing too much thinking, and making connections.
Although I've made a career in the IT world, I would never advocate for computers to be used in the classroom, other than classes specifically designed for learning computer languages, etc. It's been shown that the very act of hand-writing one's notes in class helps the brain to retain the information. You don't get the same reinforcement from typing on a keyboard.
They don't even teach spelling here in Canada anymore. Im 24 and I learned cursive, a single generation later they aren't even spelling words correctly because the computer knows how to. What the hell is school for if not to teach children these things? We've have had calculators for decades but we never stopped doing math with paper.
I had a whole class in high school "social studies" (the dumbass Canadian version of history class) about how great globalization is, I can only magine what those classes are like now. I knew it was bullshit even back then as a dumb 16 year old. Just the name "social studdies" sounds like some commie gobbledygook.
Cursive teaches hand-eye coordination every time we write, for one.
What I find fascinating is noticing how vehemently people who never learned cursive decry it. I think it's even beyond simple sour grapes, as it comes up so strongly. But personally I think that's actually part of the programming, to program kids to avoid learning the very thing that would help them deprogram.

I just couldn't afford private school. 8000 per child. Government says I make too much money for assistance.
Have you checked around to all of them? That is steep, and some in my area cost that much too, but the one we found is $3300 per year.
Interested in some more info. My daughter's only child is in Catholic School at 8,000 per year also.

Great solution! Education has always been important to us, but Christian education for our grandchildren is a huge priority.
Sounds VERY meant to be . My Grandson has had to wear a mask the whole time.
Most all “Catholic” schools are woke Marxist bullshit schools
All the schools near her are too.
Also so kids can read the Declaration of Independence etc.

Changing words, adding interpretational footnotes, placing it behind trigger warnings...
Also to read letters from WW2 written by their grandparents , or even parents . I still always write in cursive.

I BELIEVE IT STRENGTHENS PARTS OF THE BRAIN THAT PRINTING DOESN'T. oops bumped cap lock Sorry
I believe that as well. I've told my grandchildren to write out any subject they're having a tough time with.

Found this.

BEWARE - I am hearing from the education experts around Salt Lake that CRT is being "rebranded" as Social Emotional learning (SEL).
I am not a parent, but if so, I would not want my child's learning to be emotionally driven. I would want his learning to be rationally driven.
The schools should stick to SUBJECTS: reading, penmanship, arithmetic/math, history, civics.
Wait a minute...they don’t teach cursive anymore!? What!? I’ll be homeschooling.
Nope, and most kids can't read it. It's become a "secret code."
That’s ridiculous. Wow.

went away many years ago.
How about Civics as well. Also abolish the teachers union and get the retarded federal government out of education.
Our homeschooling program taught cursive from kindergarten, skipped right over non-cursive.

Great idea. Not being able to write is a crime. A real crime.
We need mandatory civics, more history, and economics far more then cursive but I get the sentiment.
isnt CRT = Cursive Righting Training? (would fit in todays skools) kek
Fuck shit ass damn. Feels good man!
Trying to dumb down the population.
Wiki Leaks: We want the population to be uninformed (dumb) and compliant.
Cursive = handwriting of the dead entities = necromancy.
