I respectfully disagree. The bible refers to followers of Christ as "sheep" over and over. He is our shepherd, I am one of his humble sheep.

Psalm 79:13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation.

Isaiah 40:10-11 Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Ezekiel 34:30-31 In this way, they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them. And they will know that they, the people of Israel, are my people, says the Sovereign LORD. You are my flock, the sheep of my pasture. You are my people, and I am your God. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”

I would call those other normies "Lemmings" or something, but not sheep. They WISH they were sheep.

The people we commonly call "sheep" today would be the goats in the analogy. Shepheard's always had both sheep and goats, and the heritage breeds of biblical times were nearly identical, not clearly defined animal breeds like we have today.

The difference was most evident in their behavior.

Sheep learn the voice of a single Shepheard, they cannot be fooled into following someone else. They will follow only their Shepheard, and they will go wherever the Shepheard leads them. Even the sound of his voice can calm them when they are afraid.

Goats on the other hand, could care less about the Shepheard's voice. Instead they will choose among themselves a leader, whichever goat is the most popular, and they will stubbornly follow that leader to their own destruction.

Separating the sheep and the goats was an easy matter. The Shepheard calls the sheep, and the goats stay behind with their "leader."

So when Jesus spoke of a Shepheard's voice and his sheep, and explicitly left out mention of the goats, people of the time knew exactly why the goats were not worth mentioning.

The only difference between the followers of Jesus and those that do not, is those that follow Jesus know that they need a savior, shepherd.

That's the point, the sheep need Jesus to guide them in the right direction.

God has awakened you for a reason. You are here reading this because you are called by the Father.

Read Ephesians 6:10 and play your battle song.

I agree, this is huge. bet I spend at least an hour every morning in amazement. just can't believe that life had such a big plan to it. I see connections everywhere; going back to things I have no control over. crazy to think about. glad I have animals and kids to keep me busy & somewhat grounded.

Dude, in Biblical context everyone who follows Christ is sheep. And we are. We are a bunch of dumb sheep easily led astray. Christ is the Good Shepherd who comes for us to bring us back to His flock.

Those who deliberately lead astray are ravenous wolves.

If Christians actually followed Jesus and not their Pastor's interpretation or their church collectives, we'd probably not even be in this mess.

I disagree. Humanity is supposed to go to a singular point where during the end times the anti Christ will reign for a little while. It's gonna happen no matter what because we're imperfect humans who unfortunately gravitate towards sin. Some more than others. And the devil is always trying to plot and murder and lie because he hates humanity, which was created in the image of God. And that makes us unique and a mortal representation of the almighty Creator. Father, Son, Holy Ghost=Father, child, mother. I also think it's important to pray for discernment on what God is ACTUALLY saying in the scriptures, not necessarily what a pastor thinks. A lot of pastors are good and do preach the Word correctly, but like I've said, nobody I perfect. It's our responsibility to ruminate on the Bible for ourselves and let God guide us. There are many false prophets but with God we can pick them out and choose not to follow them

You are representing one view of eschatology and in the scope of the history of Christianity, it's the minority report. It's called Dispensational Premillennialism. Other than a few interpretations of early Fathers who tended to write on the Gnostic side of things, it's a recent creation of the 17th and 18th century. For most of Christian church history the idea of a great tribulation and a subsequent rapture and literal 1000 year reign of Christ on earth has not been held. On the contrary, the predominant view has been of an ever increases sanctification of the earth and reign of Christ from heaven over all things preempting his physical return . Despite the contemporary setbacks, or historical setbacks for that matter, Christianity remains mostly free throughout the world. There are literally Christians in every country on earth. God's Word has been translated into most languages. Most Christians experience enough freedom to practice the necessities of Christianity. In the greater scope of history, Christianity has progressively done better, not worse.

I would warn against relying purely on your own personal interpretation of God's Word. Prophesy (that includes all of God's Word) is not of private interpretation (2 Pet 1:20). God spoke through the Holy Spirit to his people (or his Church). The Church receives God's Word and through a sanctifying process the meaning and interpretation is to be adopted. If any person could simply read their Bible, invent a novel way of understanding something, and promote their new understanding among the Church.... well we call those people heretics. More learned men than you or I have spent their lives under the scrutiny of the Church at large writing and commenting on well established doctrine and theology.

Premillennialism has some establishment among the early Fathers and though its influence was mostly inconsequential in the past 2000 years we have seen it re-emerge in the past few hundred years. I don't think it comes to the level of heresy, but it is historically on the fringe of Christian orthodoxy. I recommend you at least become familiar (if you aren't already) with postmillennialism. Try starting with Augustine who regarded the millennium as a present spiritual reign by Christ in the earth. Everything before Revelation 20 is regarding the tribulations experienced in the sacking of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. This is backed up by Jesus who describes this in Matthew 24 stating that all this would come to pass within the current generation. In Revelation 20 you have a description of Satan being loosed from his currently bound state... but he and his false prophet are quickly put down and defeated. The battle is over in an instant by God's hand. We are reigning with Christ now. This is the millennial period.

God Bless.

We are supposed to take our interpretations, argue with each other and then conclude by breaking bread. Perspectives need to be shared, heard, challenged, and most importantly respected. No, we aren't always going to agree. But agreement isn't the point. If it was, we'd have all manner of irrefutable proof, thus rendering the purpose of faith meaningless.

Yes and ultimately the decision for salvation is between Him and every individual person. We are "commanded" to love others as unconditionally as we can as He loves us in a similar, greater capacity. Judgement is for the Lord. I am free from such bondage.

Blessings and protections to you.

What's the point of free will if doom and gloom is inevitable? Why bother doing anything at all if it's all going to go to shit?

Or... Maybe... Just maybe... God will change His mind and honor the fact that this Country chose Life. Chose Him and that evil people are trying hard to undermine that.

You also need to study sin and evil closely and learn to distinguish between the two. Sin can lead to evil, but they are not mutually exclusive. Ask yourself why Christ died for sin and not evil.

Sin IS evil. Christ paid our price for our sins. Which is death. Sin is disobedience of God. I'm not dooming and glooming just stating that we as humans are cursed with sin and until God finally puts and end to the devil, that's just the condition we're in. It's not a final say on us because when all is said and done we will be whole again in the light of God. The way we were meant to be before the devil seduced Adam and eve into disobedience. And that's a wonderful thing! I for one am excited to be made whole and free from sin! It can't get much better than that fren

If sin is evil? Then why the distinction? Why have two words to describe the same thing?

Two consenting adults engage in promiscuous sex. There is no pregnancy and they go about their lives hurting no one, but themselves. Sinful? Yes. But evil?

If Christians actually followed Biblical directives instead of their own interpretation, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Very few want to follow the actual commands of Christ.

The problem is that the White House and Congress mirrors the electorate.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– GoingCamaro 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

Wrong. People DON'T follow their own interpretations, they seek collectivism and then divide themselves over trivial issues.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– Kampfer 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

Not wrong. (But, I do agree that, for some, there is comfort in collectivism.)

Blaming pastors isn't the fix.

People individually following Christ"s commands is. However:

  1. They don't know Christ's commands
  2. If they do know them, they refuse to follow them.

That is what leads to the mess that we have.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– GoingCamaro 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

A lot of pastors have blame to bear. But that is another discussion topic.

Following Christ's "commands" is as easy as reading them and applying how they speak to you. There are a few things that are non-negotiable so to speak, but in the grand scheme a lot of what we think we know is based on past interpretation and sadly a lot of that interpretation was perverted.

However, Christ's core teachings are mostly solid despite years of retranslations and copy pastes and without serious perversions can be picked up and lived by anyone.

We are not always going to agree and that's okay. Agreement and being right aren't as important as unity and respect and most importantly, love trumps all.

So does Biden, Obama, the Clinton's, etc...

They (all sides) are leveraging a belief system held by millions to communicate their message. It's an effective way to communicate and influence perception. Much more effective than trying to tell the full truth.

In fact, Q also says the truth would put 99% in the hospital. Did you think that just meant COVID or political corruption? It goes much deeper than that.
