Unfortunately this is the correct answer. Usually you can destroy a good bit of the QR and it’ll still scan.

This is a big-brain play.
It's like the guy who comes up upon a dozen people trying to get through a door that's locked only for the guy to realize it says "PULL" not "PUSH" and just waltz through after everyone was ready to toss bricks through the window.

Be gentle with me...I don't intentionally use this tech so I'm stupid about it. I did however try to educate myself before posting. Can someone give an example of using this as indicated above?
Unless it's physically posted to allow entrance to something (and can actually be written on, ie not behind glass or something) I don't really get it.

Tactical tip: hold up your phone with one hand to both give cover for why you're approaching the sign as well as test afterwards if the qr is still usable.
