I am a business owner in a small community in the Colorado mountains. I have been an Anon from the first post on 1/2 chan. I always felt like I was targeted that day. I am an original Goat if that makes any sense.
Here is my dilemma...
The people of my county have apparently decided they want me to be a County Commissioner. I'm rough around the edges and prefer solitude. I also have the complication of being the guy that found the Fenn treasure. That will bring unwanted public exposure. I am shy and have no need for money. I would rather spend my time fishing and wandering around the desert than get into politics.
My dilemma is that I feel like If I am needed to help my community I am duty bound. These people might even vote me in weather I want the job or not.
I know it's a strange post... What should I do? I don't even want a job but I will do the job.
When you are called, you listen and do the job....we would all prefer to stay in our foxhole, but a war was never won doing that... Blaze a trail and inspire others to join you...God bless, you have my prayers!..
Hey, I remember having a conversation with you on voat shortly after you found the treasure. Since you are asking - Go for it man - the "real"Colorado needs you and others like you to fight the woke. You can still have your fishing and desert time - if you dont tell anyone where your secret spots are.
Awesome you remember that! Truth is that it was a process, it took almost 2 years once I found "it". Hardest thing I ever did, not getting outsmarted by a brilliantly crazy man twice my age. It would have sat there for well over a thousand years.
It was memorable to me because I have never known an actual treasure finder before. Now you have to decide if you were rewarded due to your diligence in looking for it or because God knew there was a plan for you coming up in the Great Awakening.
It was all God. I can prove it... Sounds crazy but true, it took 41 years. Watch the "news" look for the frog.
I believe you should run and accept your win graciously. Sounds to me like God has been preparing you for this for years. It's time.
Thats what I am afraid of.
bring in the most able younger folk you can mentor while you lead. the sun is at high noon but one hour of the day. use it wisely.
I believe your gut is telling you NO, but your ego is telling you yes because everyone wants you to do it. But if you’re not inspired and you really don’t want it, then I would say pass. Timing may not be right or the actual position may not be as well. But you will know when/what and you will say, hell yeah! I don’t think that this is it.
Don't be scared.....we are all here for a reason....that is what we have in common.
I say do not be afraid. When the Holy Spirit calls upon us, He will provide the way and the ability to do the job. Have faith!
Go out to one of your quiet spots and ask God what He wants you to do. He'll send you a sign to let you know.
Isaiah 41:10
10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
He thinks I can take on the world, It freaks me out.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
4 + 13 = 17 ;-)
This sort of thing requires the inspiration of passion and the joy of doing. If you don't feel spiritually called to the job, things probably won't work out very well. I'd do some serious soul searching to see if this was my nature throwing up roadblocks or the universe telling me not to. If it's the former, the soul searching may also show you a way to make it work and be at peace in the process. If it's the latter, there's no point in making the effort. The biggest mistake I made in my life resulted in a huge mess and occurred because I ignored the warnings from the universe not to do that thing.
Best wishes, whatever you decide to do.
👆👆 this. Good luck.
The people obviously see something in you that you do not. So look for that.
If it doesn’t exist, then don’t take the job, because they have made a mistake about you.
If it does exist, then imagine whether it would make you happy serving the people in a role they want you to fill.
You like your solitude, but perhaps you could also like serving a community that apparently admires you. If not, don’t take it, but it’s worth considering whether or not there are different ways to be happy.
I live in the front range of Rockies and understand the desire to spend the rest of your life enjoying this beautiful area but you need to go for it. Conservative voices aren't being heard in this area .
I’m going to go opposite on this one. I took a job that everyone wanted me too. And sure I was awesome at it. It paid well 6 figures. It also destroyed me and made me miserable every day. Right up until I got fired for becoming complacent and careless about that job.
Life is short so what you feel like and don’t let others dictate your path.
This comes to mind https://biblehub.com/matthew/19-24.htm
I don’t know what a county commissioner does, but if it gives you the opportunity to help us hold the line in this battle of good vs evil then it is bound to be more exciting than any fish you could ever catch.
Sounds like you have the precise qualities to do the job well. You sound very hard to corrupt.
I say if the people want your help in the community, it is a sign you should be the best you can at doing this job. Every opportunity to heal the nation will need to happen from the ground up.
What's the line? Some men are born to lead, others have leadership thrust upon them
If they insist that you do it, insist that they help.
Good point.
Right now they need you. Don’t get corrupted.
i think your county and our country needs you. i think it's healthy that you don't want the role. take it unless there's another candidate out there that is a patriot as well and is more interested to serve
What do you mean 'I always felt like I was targeted that day'?
It's a weird story and involves SS, Pence, also the chick that wouldn't take a bullet and a random Email about a 10k a plate dinner and one odd man out.
Good Luck Friend
You are who we need now. Answer the call.
It would be an easy gig most of the time, just be honest, use the Bible and Constitution and most things deemed to be 'issues' will resolve themselves.
But you don't have to take it, and you cannot screw it up, look at the low bar our government sets. You can quit any time too.
Sometimes people are thrust into matters they would not choose and if you don't want the hassles just politely decline, no shame.
With the double damned corrupt nature of our government all over I wouldn't want one of those jobs, you cannot please any of the people around you and no one wants honesty, it is considered a fault, an evil thing to be honest in the miasma of government.
I'll tell you what I would do if I were wealthy enough.
I would cut one campaign ad. Speak plainly. Tell them that the world is going nuts, and if I can't save the world, at least I can introduce some sanity to my little corner of it. I don't promise that I'll have all the answers, and I'm not gonna ask for your money. I'm just gonna do the best that I can to make things better for you, my friends, neighbors, and family.
Be honest, be real, and conduct yourself with dignity and integrity. If that's what people want, they'll let you know.
And if I were ever to get elected, I would never wear a suit, just to make a statement. Suits are for sitting and talking. I'm interested in doing.
Take it and be the best County Commissioner you can. Be yourself, and it will be good enough.
Also, just remember you can't please everyone, so just do the right thing, and don't worry about whether they love you or not.
Sometimes God calls us forward, like it or not.
Our founders pictured just exactly folks like you representing We the People. Folks that were willing to make a sacrifice in order to serve their compatriots, and who would be anxious to return to their quite and productive life after having fulfilled their sacred trust.
There are talents inside you just waiting for the opportunity to be flexed.
If you omit “dilemma”, you are left with, “I feel like if I am needed to help my community, I am duty bound.” And what a lovely and noble statement that is!
Perhaps perceiving it as a dilemma is causing your dilemma (pardon the redundancy). Remain open to seeing it differently (i.e., an opportunity, a calling, etc.).
Thanks for removing the dilemma.
Fucking...become a County Commissioner. That's my advice.
Wow I forgot all about that treasure. I always thought it was on the eastern slope of the Wind River mountains, on the popoagie, but never went looking for it. Anyway, My brother moved to a small Wyoming town, 250 people. He ended up getting voted in to the town council and many of their committees. He was like you, retired, just wanted to fish ,camp and hunt. But his neighbors recognized that he was very intelligent and was a good problem solver. He helped them out for several years and ended up really enjoying it. Introverts use up a lot of energy doing things like this so just be sure you spend time regenerating your "spoons" . Would you be the only "based" member of the commission?
the rest are commies, they even put it in their bio. Think super frog...
You totally want to do it....otherwise you wouldn’t have reached out. Go with your gut ❤️
I think you answered your own pondering....think of what an interesting life experience this will be. Good Luck Fren!!
I dont know the power of a county commissioner. If there is enough power that you can make a difference go for it. And if you get elected, be yourself. shy and rough around the edges. The only thing people really want is truth.
There's now a new, bigger, more rewarding treasure to seek... Truth. The fact that you're even asking on this (of all) forum tells me you already know your duty, so graciously accept the task of County Commish and make some changes for the betterment of the community.
Btw any chance you're in Park County? Had a cabin/acreage in Alma (between Breck & Fairplay) for 20+ yrs, selling it was perhaps the worst decision (among many) of my life
NE of
.308 is nice, but 5.56 is easier to get these days...
.22 is an all around crowd pleaser and cheap...
.380 is kinda cheap and easy to carry in your back pocket while at work....
now that I have given advice... I will go and read what the OP was asking about... but this still applies.
OK, after reading the OP...
Government should be OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people.
If you go in, you will be SERVING the public as it was intended... it's a chore that GOOD governance requires... if GOOD people don't SERVE, bad people will take those spots and use it to FUCK the people.
We NEED people who DON'T WANT to be there but will do the RIGHT thing no matter the cost.
It will be a sacrifice, are you willing to make it.
I'm kinda like you... very much a behind the scenes kinda guy.
Be Cincinatus my friend, Colorado desperately needs you.
We believe in you! You have support.
What is the Fenn treasure?
If you're asking here then you know the answer. I love humble, you always get a thoughtful human being policies pushed out.
Duty calls. Serving may be a more positive and rewarding experience than you expect. And if you know it's not for you than use your influence to make sure a patriot gets in there. All good either way.
