More commonly sold as a supplement called "Black Seed Oil". Sold in both liquid and gel-cap forms. I stealthily got my Jabbed son and DIL on this because they are both overweight, pre-diabetic, and hypertensive and it helps with those conditions as well. My wife gave her testimony to them because she was able to stop taking metformin and a BP med she was on after taking black seed for about 2 months. I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice - do your own research -- your results may vary. (got the legal disclaimer in there just in case some FDA glowie is monitoring the board)

I can vouch for this stuff personally, I took it all through my Covid recovery. And it has all but cured my mom’s mild arthritis! She got range of motion back in her hands after a week of taking it!

Just looked it up for use in pregnancy & breastfeeding, and it seems that it even boosts breast milk supply!

Interesting. Similarly, dandelion tea is marketed towards pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. I'm drinking it for its antiviral properties.

Gel capsules. Goes down easy and you don’t have to taste it.

Please Note: In some places if you black cumin seed would be the wrong one, you have to buy Black Caraway seeds.

Not true. Its the seed of nigella sativa which doesn't have an English name as it only grows in the Middle Mast, parts of India and Africa.

Its not cumin, caraway or even Love in a Mist seeds.

Look online for Kalonji seeds or Kalonji oil, unfiltered cold pressed oil.

I have taken this for nearly 10 years now, its best taken with raw honey.

Sidr or Manuka honey are the best, they increase the amount of antioxidants in Kalonji by a great amount.

– bubble_bursts 4 points 4 years ago +4 / -0

Yeah, most places I checked sell Kalonji as Black Caraway. Well, I hope I got the right one - it looks a bit like a tear drop shape, and not like the regular Cumin shaped.

How do you take it with honey? Do you roast it? I just add it to cooking, but I know it wont be enough

I have seached online for different ways of application, they are hard to find and contradictory. I take a tablespoon of honey with half a teaspoon of Kalonji oil 20 minutes each morning before breakfast and another one in the evening won't hurt at all.

I am not too sure that heating it is good though, but as I am not a doctor.....

There are other ways of treating different conditions, blending it with coffee grounds are rubbing it on your chest is said to help with your breathing, I haven't tried that one though as I have a hairy chest and the oil is sticky and smelly.

Another question. I have basically cut off sugar in tea and switched to manuka honey, but worried how much is too much. Two tablespoons of honey each day is okay? Sounds a bit too much sugar?

You can’t heat manuka….it kills the beneficials.

Regular honey is good for you. Two tablespoons is not really much sugar. Get local honey, as it will help with allergies. I try to eat some every day. On a peanut butter sandwich. That's better for you than peanut butter and jelly.

Can I ask why are you taking Kalonji? Anti parasitic?

It has quinones, and is cited in medical research (including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which I just read) as anti-inflammatory, antiviral and cancer treatment.

The powdered seed is less standardized than the cold pressed oil and more prone to degradation. The oil is strong tasting and much helped by honey, in fact it becomes an acquired taste. I find that only about 1/4 tsp will dry up an itchy nose and more than a tsp leads to increased intestinal movement... have also read somewhere that it can interfere with beta blockers but that info was vague as to how.

Thankfully, Muslims use this because it's mentioned in the hadiths.

The FDA does not want Muslim wrath because the programming's worked on them as well.

A few years ago Nestle tried to patent it, yes, they tried to patent a plant.

They nearly got away with it as well, if it wasn't any good why would they do this?

Fenbendazole is also a effective de-wormor that works much like Ivermectin. It's also much easier to purchase.

I have had a compromised immune system due to lymphoma and chemo. I was hospitalized with pneumonia and sepsis last summer because my white cell count crashed but recovered fully in two days. The hospital was shocked at the speed of recovery.

Chemistry pede investigating.

The active ingredient is thymoquinone. Yes, it bears structural similarities to hydroxychloroquine. Due to the ambiguous naming of "black seed," you can also look at bee balm. Word of caution: it is an anticoagulant, and can lower blood pressure. Be wary of interactions. There's also not a lot of information on use in pregnant women.

▲ 2 ▼
– Litecola2 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Concur, we're back to quinones again, pretty amazing. Considering that the seed has been used in breads and cooking for millennia, it's probably pretty safe. Adding it to our Everything Bagel seasoning as soon as it comes in =)

I just got over what the world calls v Covid. I used wormwood as a hydrochloriquin sub. It’s used for malaria in Africa. I combined it with d,zinc, and c. I wish I took it day 1 but I forgot for 3 days I had it.

My data point: didn't provide any help when I had the "long cold" earlier this fall. Edit: daily supplements: C, D, Quer, Z, multi-V for reference.

▲ 2 ▼
– Deaf_MAGA_Pede 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Maybe the amount you're taking is low?

I had a cold earlier in 2021 and I was on similar to what you are taking and I got over my cold in like a week, as opposed to two, sometimes 3 weeks pre-Covid. In 2020, I did not have a cold at all.

Also try taking fish oil as it will help your body absorb the vitamins. I take Quercetin with Bromelain so I don't know if that makes any difference here.
