It's called "crony capitalism" and has been going on for probably the entirety of our nation, but is definitely way more obvious now. What has always burned me is the 2008/2009 bailout, "too big to fail", event where all those corporations were funded for a few percent of their net worth. They could have raised the money themselves by selling off assets, but no, they got the government ("us") to fund their incompetence. I don't know how many paid it back.
