I have my many opinions about Elon. There's a reason he named his automobile and associated company "Tesla".

I think Elon is part of the problem.... I don't think he's a good guy. Battery powered cars are trash despite what a ton of people think.
Oil is a byproduct of algae, not dinosaurs. It's not in any danger of being "emptied out" anytime soon and to be told this is a lie.

I studied historical geology. The vast majority of the biomass that comprises fossil fuels is from single-celled life. Cyanobacteria/blue-green algae is easily 80% of all fossil fuel precursors.

About how long does it take to break down into a form we can process? We might be able to bring the cost down if we could actually produce it from scratch.
Yes, this is mostly true, but it takes hundreds of thousands of years for this breakdown and transformation into crude oil to occur. We're pumping out much, much more oil more quickly than could ever be replenished naturally. You open the drain to the sink, and despite having the faucet on at full power, the sink is still going to drain empty. Same principal.
I sure go back and forth about Elon. But I keep looking at those beautiful shiny rocket ships and it's really hard to think badly of someone who can do that.
