I'm in Washington state, and I do a bit of reselling. So I go to thrift shops and such. Tonight at goodwill I was approached by the manager and told that I'm required to wear a mask if I want to shop here. I said "Are you asking me to leave?" She told me that if I was going to be quick I could finish, but started going on about how it's been a year and a half and that everyone should know by now. I said I know its been a year and a half and we're done with the games. I told her no one else has said anything to us anywhere else. She again started going on about how that's because they're bigger stores (not true) and they're a smaller store so it's easier for them to notice, losing patience in her voice. So I told her Im not going to argue with her and turned around and ended up just buying the few things I'd picked up and we left.
I know I shouldn't have given them money, but its my own livelihood at stake as well if I'm forfeiting over profits to protest their store.
Other than that, does anyone have any additional advice on how I should handle situations like this going forward? I'm sick to my stomach. Getting told to leave a store for not complying with tyranny. In the United States of America. Genuinely feel bad right now. I feel anger and sadness.
I am in NC, the abc liquor stores are govt buildings, they try to force the mask, depending who is working. I went in Thursday, it was packef due to impending snow. I walk in an employee from across the store says sir you need a mask. I turned to him looked him steaight in the eye said I am exempt and kept walking. Nobody said a word. The guy who asked about the mask was the one at the register too.
try this way. Also, dont ask if they want you to leave put the pressure on them to tell you to leave. Dont make it easy on them. If they ask about mask either say you are exempt or say you dont wear one. If they ask how you are exempt either tell them Hipaa protects your right to medical privacy or really freak them out and say you have a mental health exemption.
I just tell them it's illegal for me to carry a gun and wear a mask at the same time.
Mental health exemption is hilarious. Give them the crazy eyes.
This is a great response, thanks fren! I'll definitely use this advice if/when this happens again.
Your welcome, good luck fren, WWG1WGA. If you can say it all nicely you will win. Most people dont want to be the asshole so theY will likely leave you alone.
This is what I do in Australia and it works 100% of the time. It’s not often I get asked but when I do, just do this and they live you alone. No need to give any more reason whatsoever.
Don't let it bother you, just mock it. That is better for your health and helps to waken some people up
For some reason (new mandate?) the Marshall's store had covid guards when I went there Saturday to get a nice sweater for my girls Mom. (it is cold. brrr) I had not seen anything like this in over a year at any store, In fact most people are not masked including the employees at stores in this area.
As soon as I walked in they came at me, with a box of masks in their hand, saying.. "You need to wear a mask.", I circled around them, keeping my distance, then slowly backed away (into the store) as I puzzled them with logic.
First, with a shocked look, I said "What is going on? is there a new virus outbreak or something? Sorry I don't watch the News they all lie."
One lady said "This is a new city mandate, just implemented yesterday for covid."
I said "COVID? I think you are 2 years out of date, that pandemic ended early 2021."
She says "It is a new variant, it is very infectious."
so I say "And they think wearing masks now will stop it? You know you should not be right up in peoples face as soon as they enter the store, causing a traffic jam, it is YOU who are spreading it. AND here you are handing out masks,.. that's nice and all but if you are infected then you are basically handing out small pox blankets to the entire population."
She looked a bit stunned.
Then I said, "You need to keep your distance! No one has to wear a mask if we socially distance, go look up the guidance from the CDC and WHO, it has stated this from the start ... people should wear a mask ONLY if they can not socially distance. You DON'T have to do both. Have a nice day."
I went on shopping, no mask, and nobody at all approached me, on my way out I waved to the covid guards, I smiled and said "Have a great weekend."
This is pretty great to read. Thank you. Helps to hear it from others, and it sounds like you handled it well.
The key is to not let these people get under your skin. There’s no winning from a position of powerlessness.
Just laugh at them lol
Yeah, I guess it's less about the people themselves, and more about the situation we're in. Never in my life did I think we'd be in this position. Let alone having to defend myself for standing against that position.
Once the defensiveness rises inside you, the fight has already been lost. Find your center, and you will become an immovable rock.
Sometimes, saying nothing speaks volumes, and can disarm your opponent.
Badge of honor. 🎖
Just feel sorry for them, and take your business elsewhere. If other employees there don't care, go back another time. I regularly shop at a supermarket (closest one to my house) where they chase me down about 50% of the time. Sometimes I leave, sometimes I wear it just past the entrance and take it off later, sometimes I ignore them and they don't want to catch up... often I do my shopping and nobody cares. Some of the employees are happy that I fight back, some are empowered mask-Nazis. But I always force them to confront me.
I was refused service at a restaurant a few months ago for not being vaxxed. Our city didn't even have a mandate! Feels like crap. But it strengthens our resolve.
I fought back with a review, and a written note to the manager. Went by recently, they're not checking anymore. Something's working. Don't know what did the trick, but it's worth fighting. Fight however fits you best.
Hold her down and take a dump on her face while screaming at the top of your lungs, "DOES YOUR MASK BLOCK THIS, BITCH?!?!?!??"
Um.. Well, never mind. That might not be the best idea.
But you can if you wanna.
Tell them a mandate isn't a law and keep shopping.
Every dollar is a vote for which businesses you think belong in America. Don't sweat this one, but just keep that in mind going forward 👍
I was medically exempt from wearing a mask 12 mos ago.
Tell them you suffer from CS... If they ask you what CS is look them right in the eyes and tell them Common Sense... Then go about your shopping... God bless you OP, stay strong...
I wouldnt personally say are you asking me to leave--let them have to say it and if they do, alrighty then. I am sometimes at the store and literally the only one without a mask--I talk to ppl like normal, workers, whoever and sometimes I see others move theirs down, bc they know its dumb! And all it takes is one person to do life normal in their presence to remind them this is so stupid we are doing this 2 years later.
Just know youre a lion among sheep, keep walking in truth and conviction with your God given rights backing you up. Shake it off, and God bless you
same here - you know who really loves to see a face - the young children, so tell yourself to do it for the childen
So true!! Excellent reason
Thank you very much, I appreciate it! Helps to get some support and advice from likeminded people.
Edit: God bless you, as well!
Hey there! I am also a fellow flipper. I am a starter and have been doing it for a few months now. My dad works a real job and has a whole garage of shit to flip. Can you make a sustainable life with just flipping? I hate service jobs and majority of the jobs around me pay shit wages or they are boring, mundane annoying jobs. I sell on Mercari and find great stuff to resell and flip. I would love to turn it into a career because I am very passionate about selling. Pops has taught me a lot about what to find and look for. It’s so satisfying making people’s days with shipping things out to them. I have 20 great reviews on my Mercari account and have been praised for my shipping skills. Is it possible to live off of flipping? I’m very satisfied with reselling and I find it very fun and enjoyable and would rather flip shit than work a soul-sucking service job. Flipping is fun. It’s mostly a passion or side job but I want to turn it into a full time gig.
Hey, I'm also fairly new! Started a few months back as well. From the resellers I follow on youtube and other sources, you CAN definitely do it full time. It takes some time to develop your accounts whether it be mercari, poshmark, ebay, etc. I currently also have around 30 ebay reviews, and from what I've read and researched, sales really start picking up around 300 reviews (I know, that's a lot!), and MOST of them were able to quit their jobs and become full time resellers within 3-6 months of starting. If there's anything you feel like you need any advice or help on, feel free to message me. I think I'm starting to get a pretty good hang of it.
I've been doing it for about 8 years now and have almost 10k feedback, 100% positive.
I found success in a niche market. Stick to one central theme and do it well.
I can't find it now. Someone on this site said to just say, "I can't wear a mask, it violates the terms of my parole!" Not my idea or advice but when I read it I laughed out loud.
Good response, educate as much as you can, don't back down and leave. Calling them a f-ing idiot may feel good, but doesn't help win the war.
Hey buddy bout time I see you post here lol
;)
Do what I've done, sit and stew in the anger, knowing full well, one day soon, the truth will shine and they'll either be headed to the gallows, to suicide, or to total mental breakdowns. I dwell on the ending and feel MUCH better. Nana doesn't give ANY breaks!
Fuck them all. An ad in the paper for people to donate to you would be cheaper.
My animals were denied service at the vet because I would not wear a mask inside. I protested peacefully and sat down in the waiting room and told them they could call the police on me because I was not leaving. I did not intend to make a big scene just prove a point that a business which I have been a customer at for 10 years would rather call the police on me then see me without a mask on.
I am not leaving my animals in the care of anyone without my supervision. If they were willing to shoot up children with a covid vaccine and pretend it's a flu shot, what are they willing to give our animals?
I pay them $1700 a year for a service I barely use. I canceled. Fuck them. Fuck them all. I told every single one of them they should be ashamed of themselves for submitting to tyranny. I went on an uninterrupted rant and said no one is dying from covid they are dying from not being treated with...." listed everything that helps & then I also told them about patients being ignored & then put on remdesivir. Then I went into a rant about remdesivir & it's history. Then I sat down.
Did I look crazy to them? Yes I am sure. But I stood my ground firmly for the truth. If just one of those employees listened and searched maybe 10 more people will wake up.
The kicker about the whole situation? One girl actually came from the back room to come out and yell at me and she did not have a mask on. Which tells me that all the employees sit in the back room without a mask on all day and only wear them in front of customers. Which is obviously further bullshit. I refuse to play their bullshit game.
Of course when I get home I research VCA Vets. They are based in Los Angeles and owned by the MARS Corp. Their leftism tyranny is not surprising to me now.
Want to witness some real dystopian crap, you should visit Chicago, KEK!
I’m also in WA, and I also got asked to leave a Goodwill a few weeks ago.
1.) They don’t deserve my money. In fact, I’m going to go out of my way to make sure everyone likeminded boycotts their business if they’re going to unlawfully discriminate against me.
The mandate states that medical devices require my consent.
2.) I’m going to print out a notice of liability (commonlawful.com), along with the highlighted portion of the mandate, the WA State Constitution, AND WA State law referring to discrimination in a public square...
... and have that ready to go next time.
I’m DONE with flaccid, cowardly people and businesses perpetuating this deadly game of totalitarianism.
I’m going to start holding those businesses liable.
I guess I’m done playing nice, and I’m going to start picking fights that I know need to be had.
Amen, power to you. If you end up having such an encounter, keep me updated here if you remember. I'd love to hear the results. Godspeed.
Goodwills are corrupt anyway, they don’t help people get job training like they claim, they are a fraud who gets their inventory for free. They are only staffed with retards.
I’m just overly polite in such situations. Don’t be the “evil meanie” the news told them you are and it disarms them. In the few times it has happened to me I have been very positive and responded “I appreciate you letting me know but unfortunately I am unable to” then ask them a question about something in the store. Their brains can’t handle two separate thought processes, it’s why they were so easily programmed in the first place. Then thank them and walk away.
Sorry this happened to you. If you're anywhere near Seattle, you're lucky you've gone this long without it happening already.
I would suggest just going about your business as normal and if confronted, simply smile and say, "Oh, that. I have an exemption." And leave it at that. If they press you about ut say, "You know, HIPPA law protects my personal medical information."
If you are thinking, I can't lie, I don't have an exemption, consider this. The US Constitution IS your exemption. While you may be able to get an actual medical exemption from your doctor, the truth is, the Constitution protects your inalienable rights, so you can secretly consider that your exemption.
If they continue to press, be sure to scare them by requesting the person's name and saying you're going to report them for breach of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and that the fine ranges from 75k-150k. Good luck. Please let us know if any other masknazis bother you.
Right of passage. You are a MAN now. 😊
OP, I just say I can't wear one for medical reasons. Then, I usually throw in that 100 million and then repeat 100 million covid particles can fit on the head of a pin. Have not been stopped once - well except for the first time at Walmart when they sent their attack guard to tell me to wear one. Told her no as well and walked into the store.
Ummm...how about you leave Occupied Washington.
Easier said than done, unfortunately. All of my family is here, I'm in debt, and no means to escape. I'm trapped my friend.
