Because if your boss is a lefty he can fire you for doing based things even off the clock from your own home. If your boss is based, he can fire you for doing lefty things even off the clock from your own home. If your boss sees you wearing a blue shirt while on the job, he can fire you for it. Literally. That is what an at-will employment status means, and it is the law in every state in the USA.

For the record I've worked in computers sense the early 90s. 90%+ of hacks happen because the person stumbles into a vulnerability in a system and exploits it. All that BS you see on TV is exactly that its BS. RARELY does someone target a specific company and succeed at hacking them. Thus this guy is either the luckiest SOB on the whole planet or he's a lying POS taking credit for what other people have done.
