The feeling of losing consciousness while sleeping may sound silly, but I have experienced it before.

Take magnesium. the feeling is probably a touch of sleep apnea, that can cause night horrors, where dreams of dying are common. A lack of magnesium can make muscles spasm: even a slight deficiency causes eyelid flutter, or sudden twitches, so one can feel like one is falling: In your dream you can interpret it as 'losing control'.

Another symptom is the jump, just as one is falling asleep. In my family, the 'jump' is a canary in the coal-mine. Time to take magnesium.

Quit drinking black tea - it is very high in fluoride, and can exacerbate the condition. Ironically, (organic) coffee is better, if you need a stimulant during the day.

Also quit eating anything sweet. Sugar and carbs are destroyers of magnesium. BTW a bad magnesium deficiency can lead to death, so it is pretty vital to get on top of it.

While you are there, Take some Himalayan salt and a little potassium as well.

I've been using Magnesium oil for a few months now, and along with Melatonin I now have excellent sleep.

There was a time, and it happened most whilst driving where I would suddenly feel so tired that I needed to close my eyes for even a few seconds. Obviously I recognised this was extremely dangerous so when it started I would pull over. Then set an alarm for even just a few minutes and bang I was in the deepest sleep possible. Even with just a few minutes sleep I would awake from what felt like hours of sleep and could then drive wide awake.

I now get around 8 hours sleep a night, I have no lights anywhere, no electrical devices on or nearby, and the sleep is the best I've ever had! If you use melatonin take a break from it every now and again. Yup I use himalayan salt, and some lugol's iodine. The muscle twitches and jumps have also stopped.

Father had epilepsy. You’d know for sure if you had that. He used to put us kids in the car and go somewhere and inevitably have a seizure while driving. We learned early on how to guide the car to the side of the road and brake. He had several wrecks. The last one where he hit a light pole tore most of his face off. We were in college by then and did all the driving.

Doesn’t sound like the same thing to me.

Melatonin gives me weird dreams. I can’t take it.

Completely normal and common. Whether your headphones are related or not, stop that, it’s really stupid. Sleep without sound.

I have epilepsy, you can't mistake my type. Confusion, loss of vision, popping sounds and then full scale shaking seizure, unconscious and not breathing. Luckily it's well under control.

There are all kinds of epilepsy, but maybe you are anxious about sleep and having a panic attack.

Go to bed between 9:30-10:30 every night. Turn OFF your wifi in home at night. Give yourself a break from it.

Sleep is to rest and heal the body and that is absolutely not the time to be wearing a Bluetooth anything!

Sleep Apnea?

Ask someone else if you snore or briefly stop breathing.

It's common if you have a few extra pounds and sleep on your back.

Stop using bluetooth if that concerns you. If you must, wear something hardwired.

Stress can have all sorts of weird effects on people, so avoid WebMD et. al. if researching symptoms stresses you out.

You're probably fine.

Sleep changes as you age. Dark, quite and routine are your friends.

Working to exhaustion was what I did at that age! It was effective.

I agree with u/sadness.

It's sleep apnea and you're probably having trouble breathing.

I had it for many years, undiagnosed. Do you breath through your mouth or nose when sleeping?

There are breathing exercises you can do as you lay down to sleep.

A subset of population has neurologic problems intristically, but it can be anything, including brain tumor or stroke. This means it could be a race against time. If it's that serious, and keeps happening, and with onset that sudden, you will probably need to seek medical help asap. And grab a friend to monitor your state, dont stay alone in case you switch off.

Yeah, searching the internet can be scary. Everything leads to cancer and incurable conditions. Trust me, I've been there. Haven't trusted doctors for over thirty years.

Btw losing consciousness when sleeping - it feels pretty normal to me. If it happens during your daytime activities - that would alarm me.

Ivermectin and aspirin. It’ll fix you up within a week if you have enough.
