I actually considered that, but the family members family member, and would handle things more delicately. I’m just now paying attention to the pictures that were sent to me this week, I just thought I would look at them in detail, and I just noticed right this moment. My mind is reeling
A family member of mine is visiting her sister. These people are Christians, very loving and caring, and I’m worried about them. I think their sister is a meth addict, and after seeing the pictures that were sent to me and looking them at more in detail I’m concerned. Has nothing to do with minding my own business. It’s about protecting family members that I know are vulnerable, especially to people like this. Also not to mention, the person in question that they’re visiting is a family member as well, I’m concerned about their safety.
Well because it is a family member, I would never involve the authorities. I just don’t think that’s the right thing to do. But my main concern is my family that’s visiting right now. As soon as they get out of the area, and get back home, I would let sleeping dog lie. The set up as it is right now, will play out itself. I don’t need to lift a finger to cause anybody harm. They’re going to do it themselves. I just want my two immediate family members out of that area, which I think will be happening in the next couple days.
The thing is, is the person in question that lives there, is on disability. My family members were wanting me to be their guarantor. After meeting her in person, I immediately thought… This person is on meth. I would know, because back in my 20s I was a hard-core drug addict. I’m 58 now, and that’s the furthest from my mind. I don’t drink, smoke, or use drugs. None of it. I’m walking in the Lord freely now.
Anyway… They sent me these pictures of the property, and out of the blue I just decided to really look at them today. I just have a bad feeling about it, and I’m glad that I will not be agreeing to be her guarantor, because I really feel that would put me at risk being involved in anything that’s going on up there.
As much as I disapprove, I just want my two family members who love the Lord, to leave their intact. The rest of all of them can live life the way they want to. It’s their choice. I’m not the kind of person who just gonna call the police on somebody. Especially an extended family member. The situation will work itself out on its own. In time, your sins will find you out.
But thanks for the advice… I have no intentions of bringing a avalanche down on me and my family. They don’t live anywhere near me, and it’s their own business what they wanna do with their life. As long as my two family members are not at risk.
If you are not willing to get the family member arrested, you are not willing to save their life. They are far more likely to get clean and sober in prison than outside it. Leaving them alone is a death sentence. I worked in a prison delivering detox and rehab.
If you are unwilling to trust that going to prison is in fact what will save them, you're deep in the enabling. I recommend going to a support group for family members of addicts where they confront the destructive enabling behaviors that hide in the guise of support, e.g. giving addicts money, failing to inform police of lawbreaking, refusing to report a drug house, etc.
Forward this photo and your brief list of concerns to the local and state police. Make sure to note that you CC'd each law enforcement agency. Also you can report organized drug suspicious activity to the Attorney General in your state using their online form. If you care about the family member, getting them all arrested will save their lives.
If you see any smoke from this place on any regular basis and if it smells sickly sweet just call the cops tell them you suspect a drug operation. Worst case scenario its innocent but the cops looked in on it and fire dept will be involved automatically with a possible meth lab so they can verify safety for you with a much higher degree of certainty
I work for a Home Medical company. Those are E-tanks (Oxygen, green cap color) next to a 5LPM Oxygen Concentrator. The tank on the cart has a regulator, the others appear to have been used (no tags, meaning the regulator has already been used with them.
I'm going to guess that this stuff was being used by an O2 patient, but that person is no longer using the equipment (deceased, hospitalized, transfered to long term care).
Putting it outside: not very smart. Not secured (upright, locked in place): not very smart. Direct sunlight: not very smart. Next to other potentially flammable materials: not very smart.
I'm guessing the person on oxygen died, hence the machine being left outside. No one I know who needs o2 would leave that out.
They're living in a shed sized building, probably don't have another shed to store stuff they can't fit in the house.
The 20lb propane bottle is propped up because they plumbed the line for a hundred pounder which is taller. Their larger tank is probably empty, and they are struggling.
They probably do rescue dogs, or at least feed and love what ever strays wander in. Maybe some of them were never fixed. Maybe they couldn't give away all the puppies. Trust me it can get out of hand quick. Not everyone can shoot a good dog, no matter how much sense it makes to have less dogs. Is this so bad a trait?
This whole thread is not right, the wild accusations here are baseless.
My take is they are just poor folk trying to live and could probably use a hand getting things further along. Last thing they need is idiots speculating wildly and wellness checks from the government.
This thread has angered me. I'm glad none of you are my neighbors.
Cencerning the first two sentences: the Oxygen use could be Nocturnal (the tan Concentrator) and with activity (the tanks). Perhaps the stuff was put outside during cleaning, or preparing for a move. I don't know why it's out there, just pointing out that safety guidelines aren't being followed.
As for the rest of your reply: I didn't comment on the size of the building, the propane, or the animals, because those aren't areas of expertise for me. And I certainly didn't recommend wellness checks from the government.
You're right though... instead of passing judgement in these situations, it would be more beneficial to everyone to be good neighbors and just say hi to see if everything is alright.
Thanks for the information. I kind of thought the same, except for the person who is supposedly using those oxygen tanks, still lives there. Add is alive because I met them the other day. The whole thing just seem sketchy so I just wanted to other peoples opinion before I lose my mind.
Nope. Definitly oxygen tanks. Good thought tho. Was my first thought too. That is NOT a bad suggestion. Moonshine. Hmmm. The oxygen could be used to make the flame hotter. If those are evaporators next to the propane tank then that is likely the answer.
Just my two cents but the sketchiest thing I see is the bucket that the propane is sitting on. The oxygen tank is connected so it has a way to purge off. I don’t know what the other containers are I’d need a closer picture of them. This is what off grid tiny living looks like guys. They obviously don’t have a shed for storage.
Yes the location is more remote. There are some other campers and trailers on the property. It is very off grid. The fact that they have 16 dogs is what concerns me. What are they trying to protect?
Some people like animals. I have 4 cats, 6 dogs, 65 chickens and 15 cows, along with various other animals. Being in the desert most of them were probably deserted or abandoned somewhere and you have someone who’s just trying to keep souls alive.
And I’m going to give you a very sound piece of advice. It’s absolutely none of your damn business what they are trying to protect. As long as they stay on their square, and you stay on yours, what’s the big deal? Is it tearing you up that badly that someone lives different than you?
Oh and one more thing… You’re probably right about the dogs. They probably were a banded, and the people to take them in. And I do like that about them. Thanks for your comment.
If you read any of the other comments on this thread, you would know that my family members are visiting this person that is a family member of theirs. I’m concerned of the safety of my family members, and also the person that lives there.
If you want more details you can read down through the thread. I love animals, and I also love my family members. My main concern is the unsafe conditions of flammable containers. There’s oxygen tanks, propane tank, I don’t know what the other tanks are, and next to that is a generator, and a bunch of empty or full I don’t know gas containers.
If a fire was to break out in that area it would spread rapidly. Arizona has some of the worst forest fires in the western area next to California and Oregon.
You are in an area that doesn’t have codes or restrictions. Even if they were a fire concern, there’s nothing you can do about something on someone else’s property. The items independently are of no risk of combustion without outside force. You can disguise it as concern for safety or whatever you’d like but point blank, if you don’t own it, it’s nothing to you. I don’t mean to sound rude, but I’d be really pissed off if I found my house on the internet with some nosy ass person trying to find out what I’m doing. I’d probably be mad enough to fight about it. I’m just saying
People can’t get privacy anymore. My closest neighbor is more than 1000 yards away from me, you can’t see my home from the road. And it’s reasons like this why I made sure I had my privacy. I’d be down right furious about this. It’s one thing to observe and want to urge your family to use caution but to blast someone’s home on the internet is just nuts. What’s their course of action? They gonna call the local sheriff and demand a health and welfare check on an unsuspecting home owner minding their own business?
No it’s not read it faggot tree. I don’t even have a Reddit account
It’s my family member. I have two family members, visiting another family member, and they sent me these pictures of the property with pictures of the family member.
I was sick this week, and I hadn’t had a chance to look at them and just thought to myself she let me check it out. After looking more closely, I had some concerns about the safety of the family member.
I’m concerned about the storage of the oxygen tanks, the propane tank with a line going into the house, and also a generator next to all of that, at about five or six gas containers next to that. Also all of the shrubbery that’s growing up around that stuff. It’s an extreme fire hazard.
However… You didn’t meet the person that lives there, I did. She looks like she’s 92 pounds. And I hate to say it, but she does look like a meth addict. I was meeting her because my family wants me to be her guarantor because she’s on disability.
After meeting her, I wouldn’t touch the situation with a 10 foot pole. Especially now seeing the unsafety living arrangements.
All I want is my two Christian family members, who are related to this person, to get out unscathed.
After that, I don’t care what they do with their lives. It’s up to them what they want to do. I’m not against 16 dogs in particular, I mean my friend has five and they live in a three bedroom house. I do love animals and that’s a non-issue for me.
What is an issue for me? Because of the unsafe practices of the storage of flammables, it could cause a fire in that area. Arizona has had some of the worst fires in the western area, it would be a shame for everybody else and that area to suffer because three or four people can’t manage just basic safety with flammables.
That’s the entire backstory so you don’t have to keep calling me a Karen. It’s my family, and I care about them, and I just wanted to know what people thought about the picture because I wasn’t sure.
God bless you, have a great day, and enjoy all your animals I’m sure they’re all very lovely!
My guess is those 4 silver cans next to the propane are liquid nitrogen dewars. You'd have to get close to them and see what was written on the side to be sure.
But that tells me that someone is likely making a controlled gas atmosphere for some purpose. Consisting of a specific stoichiometric ratio of propane and oxygen along with the remainder pure nitrogen. Probably not illegal. Most likely a research project of some kind.
Here's a thought...how about asking them? I seriously doubt they are doing anything dangerous. Make up an excuse. Tell them you are looking for liquid nitrogen, and ask them if they know where you can get some in the area? Then you can casually ask them what they are doing.
The only thing there that could possibly be explosive is the propane, and those tanks in practice can only explode if you literally throw them into a fire. You can leave those things baking in the sun and they will not be dangerous. I know from experience. AZ heat won't phase them, and on the off chance it ever does over pressure because it was incorrectly filled, there is a relief valve that vents the gas up and away from the tank. Without an open flame right next to it, the gas will harmlessly vent off. I don't see anything there that you need to be concerned about if this is merely about safety.
If you are really concerned, just tell your family politely and discretely to please not smoke near that area. I don't think it needs more than that if you don't care about their actual purpose.
Maybe call the fire department and see if there's anything they can suggest in terms of legal options? It might be as simple as just sending someone over to say, "Hey, you got all these O2 cylinders laying out here. Do you need help getting them returned?"
And sometimes a sternly worded letter from the county can help get code violations like the propane fixed. Looks like there's also some gas cans out in the open by some dry grass.
It definitely looks sketchy, but I feel like if this is a family member you don't want to go to the cops and utter the word "possible meth lab". They tend to assume the worst and over-respond.
More than likely it's a Marijuana grow house. Co2 for the plants, O2 for the roots (hydroponic system) propane for a sensor controlled heater/cooling system. I'm probably wrong though, it's probably all for a slurpy machine. But looks safe enough for how I grew up.
Hmm. You are definitely right to be suspicious. Do you know the people? Snowflake is tiny. What are the the other things against the wall that look like coin op vacuums?
I don’t know… That was what my concern was. I don’t know what those aluminum looking canisters are. Because it looks like those lines are going into the building as well. God only knows what they’re up to up there, I just want my family members to leave. I did notify them of the unsafety storing practices of the oxygen tanks, and the gas containers back behind where they have the generator. I mean gas cans, generator, and oxygen tanks probably shouldn’t all be stored next to one another. I know that at least. It doesn’t take the daughter of a rocket scientist to figure that out. LOL!
The device the oxygen tank is sitting on looks like a oxygen generator. It spins room air in a centrifuge and creates near 100% oxygen. It would be used by someone on oxygen, the E tank of oxygen connected to it is for backup when the electricity goes out. Its strange that it is sitting outside though.
I disagree with "not involving the authorities" because a family member is involved. A meth lab that is not busted, is allowed to cause the ruination of families, and of individual lives. One of which could be the "family member". Get that place reported and let the chips fall where they may.
From what i can see looks like a bunch of empty oxygen bottles and a Oxygen concentrator for people with COPD or lung problems.
Then a propane bottle i think.
The bigger ones look medical and could be liquid oxygen which could be for COPD care or something medical that you need oxygen with as they have those plastic tops which regulate and i think also warm the oxygen so its okay to use for breathing.
Similar tank
Its all medical stuff in my opinion, i would guess someone suffering from COPD as you get through a lot of oxygen and as the other smaller bottles of gaseous oxygen and the machine are left outside it may mean they have had to increase the amount of oxygen so could explain why there are so many, as you usually do this as the COPD gets worse and your struggling to breath.
A family member had COPD and they had a lot of the same equipment the smaller oxygen bottles are used when out and about and then the concentrator is used in the house with a long tube on it so they can walk about but with oxygen mask on, i think there is a upper limit of what a Oxygen concentrator can produce so if you need higher amount of oxygen you might need to use those bigger liquid oxygen ones.
Not sure about why they have the propane looking bottle though as generally you dont want to mix them as oxygen makes everything much much easier to burn.
But in all honesty, you could shoot at any of those tanks and they would not explode, at the worst a bullet would penetrate and it would become a torch for a few minutes from the hole. But to me, I see O2 tanks, an O2 generator, a propane tank and 4 Co2 generators... Grow house.
Whatever is going on there the way those bottles are stored is probably not the biggest concern here. I would be concerned with what's going on inside.
Might be a rig to capture oxygen and refill all the empties.
My dad used the machine up close or something like it to feed his nose mounted oxygen rig. And the 3 larger tanks looked similar to his liquid oxygen tanks… needs no electricity, although the top looked very different . Have no idea what the deal is with the propane tank. I see a generator and 3 gasoline tanks as well.. not such a safe idea to ave fuel and oxygen Cole together like that..the right mix It will turn a spark into a bomb and blow the building apart.
Call the local fire dept. to check. Much cooler than the cops and more concerned about fire safety. Propane tanks are everywhere in the country, so are animals. The big box looks like an oxygen concentrator. If it belonged to an ill person, the FD might even know them from transporting them. As to grow operations, we are allowed to grow our own. Meth is generally accompanied by shady characters. Snowflake is a Mormon settlement, as in Jake Flake's ancestor.
Interesting about it being a Mormon settlement. About a year ago my family member said that there were some guy in that area who is trying to get the other family member to sign him over as their guarantor. I think he’s known for praying on innocent people, and getting them to give him power over their money. So that fits right in with this scenario. Living off grid is a great idea to so many, but you just never know who the hell is living next to you about 5 acres away. It could be a meth lab, or some Mormon predator ! Always be prepared!
How do you know this con man is a Mormon? Sounds like a basic bad apple leeching off his family. My point is that though there are many sandbirds in the high country now, this is historically a cohesive community that knows each other. I'm guessing as I have noticed in small communities in NM and Kansas, everyone knows what is happening twenty miles away, ten minutes before it happens.
Certainly his behavior is suspicious. I never heard of soliciting people for "guarantor" service, in fact the only guarantors I've heard of are for bail, loans, and people who otherwise could be a financial burden. When someone from Europe came to visit me, CBP called me up and said I had to be his guarantor. I said how do I do that, they said make a notarized statement that you will be responsible for any charges he incurs. So fine, I did, he carried this paper around faithfully and nothing more ever came of it.
Just sitting there like that? Probably pretty safe. All of those devices are designed to be very safe for home use by the lowest common denominator idiot. Blocking them from the Arizona sun might be a good idea, though.
I'd be VERY worried about what is going on inside, however... I can't even imagine what the purpose would be. Crack/meth is a pretty good guess, given if way this slapped together. But, I wonder if its a blacksmith or maybe a metals recovery operation in someone's home shop.
According to my family member. Somebody actually lives in that building. There’s an outside house outside, they hand carry water in there too do whatever washing they do, and I’m not even sure if there’s electricity there. I think there might be. They have 16 dogs on the property.
I’m not sure on the breeds of the dogs, but I could find out. I just find it interesting that they have 16 dogs. I mean my best friend and her roommate have five, but whatever. I understand about people being animal lovers, and stuff like that. And I guess if you’re off grade you can have as many animals if you want. There’s no law against that. My concern is for the safety of everybody involved at that property. But really it’s none of my business, I just wanna make sure my other two family members get out of there as soon as possible. The rest will sort itself out. If there’s any wrongdoing going on there, in time, their sins will find them out.
So it sounds like your family members might be mixed up in this so u can't call the cops. Understand. All u can do is pray for their safety unless you can go get them out of there... But I gather this is also not an option.
If both of those options are out you are left with praying and pleading with them to get out of there. At that point it's time to stop stressing about things you cannot control. Focus on what you CAN do.
I agree 100%. I’m definitely not going to contact the authorities. I just want my other family members that are staying in a hotel nearby, to get done with what they’re doing and leave. After that it’s up to the Lord to take care of the situation. I believe they’ve been living this way for quite some time, and in the end… Things will get sorted on their own. For the good or for the bad. But definitely will be praying for them!
Yes it's unsafe, it's outside tho and propane is heavier than air. Scale of 1-10? Idk, depends if the oxygen bottle is empty or full. Depends what device propane is hooked into
Only thing I think of when I see that is METH LAB
Do you have any more details I’m trying to protect some family members.
Show the photo to the Sheriff and let them decide.
I actually considered that, but the family members family member, and would handle things more delicately. I’m just now paying attention to the pictures that were sent to me this week, I just thought I would look at them in detail, and I just noticed right this moment. My mind is reeling
Look if you are not willing to let the police handle this after an online tip, why are you posting?

I'd start by minding my own business.

I hear you.
I'd not advise kicking a hornets nest if you don't even know what's going on.
But no, go ahead, fuck with people you don't know. Let's see what happens. FAFO works both ways.
Life lesson inbound.

Could be hungry yo.
Help her out.
Make sure there is something in the cooler to eat. Not having a refrigerator makes life way harder.
Don't rush to judgment. Find out what's up. Family helps family.
Maybe your two visiting family members help put up a tank shed?
Help with digging the well?
For the safety of all!

Hahahahha
Ha ha ha ha ha ha. That’s the funniest answer I’ve got back so far. That made me laugh thank you!
Always glad to supply some much-needed levity to the pedes. 😉
could the tanks be CO2? if yes, it's a grow operation, or a bootleg distillery.
tread carefully, this way, there be dragons.

I have 11 dogs and four campers. Shut up.
Seriously. Stop talking.
Go knock on the door and say hello if you're so damned curious. This is Reddit Karen faggotry, and it's disgusting.
They might be animal hoarders?
GTFO
You talking pure bullshit.
Hey Google image search zoomed in on just that area brings back water catchment systems
Wow that’s really interesting. I’ll do a search.
They tend to assume the worst and over-respond.
mind your own business
More than likely it's a Marijuana grow house. Co2 for the plants, O2 for the roots (hydroponic system) propane for a sensor controlled heater/cooling system. I'm probably wrong though, it's probably all for a slurpy machine. But looks safe enough for how I grew up.
Is it an animal rescue by chance?
No. The animals are their pets.
LOL!
Those look like CO2 producing machines, most likely growing some marijuana in that building. Is there bright light coming from inside?
Literally just find out if there is anything you can do to help out, and do it.
If you have broken your bonds to addiction, you should understand that revealing them may be saving them
Might be a rig to capture oxygen and refill all the empties.
What's He Building In There?
Well that doesn’t look safe to me. And they have a bunch of gas containers in the background and a generator.
Oh noes.
Did you notice any weird odors?? My guess is meth lab or hash oil
What breed are the dogs? Pit? Doberman? Rottweiler? German shep? Belgian malinueax? Any type of security dog or like yorkys and Chihuahuas?
Edit: if u don't know are they big and spooky or little pets?
Fyi: pits are very popular amongst the drug dealing types. All breeds I listed above are as well
I’m not sure on the breeds of the dogs, but I could find out.
Yes it is a very relevant detail. Depending on the breed, it's another piece of evidence one way or the other
So it sounds like your family members might be mixed up in this so u can't call the cops.
