If you want to go down that road, couldn’t you say anyone who commits a crime with a victim is mentally I’ll and therefore shouldn’t be prosecuted? What about psychopath serial killers? Did they choose their condition? But we can’t let them go killing. One could even argue that a person convicted of a “normal” crime like stealing was not truly at fault, it was their upbringing, no one taught them right from wrong… but we still try to stop and punish thieves. This is no different… gotta protect the clearly innocent parties from the perpetrators of crime who have questionable innocence at best.
This type of behavior should always be criminalized and marginalized to discourage the behavior. Shame is a powerful motivator. Mental illnesses which fixate on harming others, especially children, should never be legitimized or encouraged.

I know they are sick but can't get my head around what is going on in their minds that they want sex with a child? Is it the vulnerability of a child? They have very small penises? What?
Some people enjoy the act of corrupting others. It gives them a sense of power. And I think there is a percentage of people (male and female) who are broken enough to not be able to see or relate to children as human beings. They are more like objects and who cares what happens to objects?
In other cases, it's about control. Having that much control over another human's life and instilling a sense of fear in everyone around them because if they'll hurt children, who knows what else they're capable of?
It must mean they don't relate to themselves as human...broken indeed.

I felt disgusted and icky seeing it - yet I feel its an appropriate punishment for pedophiles and pedo enablers.
