Precession is a specific arc degree deviation from the circumferential rotation on an axial, tilted, plane. Its been used with alignments to celestial bodies for 1000s of years with reverse location hemispherically on earth by time. Additionally allows triangulation after the location/time value is known. There is no way to align a structure or any object to North and magnetic north by longitude and latitude without this input as a known value.
The use of the inverse square law as your example is also innacurate method of measurement because it is not a measurement, it's a calculation and it excludes the , medium, that light travels through.

You cannot bend/warp No-thing-ness, aka "The fabric of space-time" --- "Space" and "Time" are not "things" and therefore there is nothing to bend/warp in the first place. Dark matter & dark energy were made up to explain away the mathematical inconsistencies astronomers were beginning to calculate in the middle of the 20th century.
